Common Questions and Answers about Heat exhaustion lasting effects

heat

Avatar f tn Dehydration can cause nausea and lead to a vicious cycle where the dehydration and heat do lead to heat exhaustion because the nausea prevents the intake of fluids which just adds to the dehydration and leads to the body getting hotter and hotter.
Avatar n tn My husband has had a severe headache (mainly at the top of his head) for three days. He did cut trees in the sun so we thought it might be heat exhaustion. He has tried tylenol, aspirin, and decongestants. The only relief has been when he holds a towel with ice on the top of his head. We don't have insurance but now I'm getting worried since the headache hasn't eased up.
Avatar m tn You might be losing too many salts due to sweating and on that exhaustion episode might have lost minerals in salts. You have to rehydreate yourself with water and salts. Measure your blood pressure and keep it in normal range and go for testing of your minerals. Take care!
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar m tn I drink a lot of water but when I go for a walk I get heat exhaustion dry mouth pell wight skin need to sit-down fast but I don't walk that much the wether her is 85 and I'm only 27 no I don't take any meds drugs or alcohol Is it heat exhaustion
Avatar m tn It has really interfered with my ability to think clearly and lucidly. Is it possible that these car naps caused me to have some sort of heat exhaustion damage to my brain? Even if I were extremely exhausted, would my body be alerted out of sleep when the temperature or CO2 level gets too high before any damage to my nervous system begins? I have been to a neurologist several years ago and he says that eventually the headaches will go away.
Avatar n tn Go see a neurologist let them know what is going on, this could be side effects from the heat exhaustion or it could be damage done, or you male or female, I ask this because female run a higher risk of having M.S. and some of the symptoms you described sound typical of M.S. either way get in to see a neurologist right away dont wait the neurologist should be able to help you figure out what is wrong and get you back on track...... good luck, dont wait too long...
Avatar f tn Hi, It is good that you are feeling better already. Heat-related illness such as heat exhaustion occurs when your body gets too hot. This can be caused by physical exercise or hot weather. It can present with heavy sweating, feeling weak, dizziness, nausea, headache, fast heartbeat and dark-colored urine, which indicates dehydration. It is important that you get out of the heat quickly. Drink plenty of water or other fluids.
Avatar f tn I don't know about early labor but you could easily get heat exhaustion or heat stroke so take extra care and make sure you are staying hydrated and do anything you can to try and keep yourself cool.
Avatar m tn i was walking in the sun for probably 3 hours it was very hot 46 c this day, suddenly i felt my heart is racing and beating so fast with 3 ectopic beats in very few second, i stopped and put my hand on my heart it was beating too fast and strong, i cooled myself down and drank some fluids it all went back to normal(but the ectopic beats lasted for a week), went to a cardiologist he said i'm fine and it's just heat exhaustion, is it AFib or just palpitations with heat exhaustion?
927213 tn?1270011366 t know. Did she have any symptoms of heat exhaustion going alongside this weakness in her legs? (Such as: heavy panting/breathing TOO deeply/salivation/distress of any kind?).....[later stages include: dry gums as the heat prostration progresses, weakness, confusion or inattention, vomiting or diarrhea and sometimes bleeding. As the condition progresses towards heat prostration or heat stroke there may be obvious paleness or graying to the gums.
Avatar m tn I have had 2 heart attacks (age 46 and 48) from clots in a tiny artery, branch of a branch of LAD and ever since have issues breathing when it's humid outside. I am working for 1 month in a carpenter shop with no A/C, only fans and it has been as high as 99. I think I've gotten heat exhaustion twice now, missed 2 days of work. This is not my career, only a 1 month learning experience and I'm considering going to half days, early mornings only.
Avatar f tn I am 33 years old, and can openly admit, overweight. There is a catch, I have perfect cholesterol, great blood pressure, and no health issues that my normal PCM can find. I have even been told that I am the healthiest fat person he has ever met. But I have suffered 3 TIAs, or so I've been told. I have been through every test for a stroke on my heart and brain and there is no damage. The "strokes" happened approximately 1 year apart and the lasting symptoms for about a month.
Avatar f tn That was my worst side effect. I couldn't bear it. and I had insomnia! I took sleeping pills but they did nothing, it was terrible, just terrible. I knew I had a problem when I was so tired even two weeks after stopping the pills.
572651 tn?1530999357 t paying attention. Could have been heat or exhaustion or just about anything. This happened while I was on Tysabri How about you?
576875 tn?1217987525 Since beginning Lotrel in 2007 I have had a recurrence of severe muscle pain and weakness. I also suffered heat exhaustion in 2006 and now cannot tolerate more than 6 hours in, 90degree plus, heat. I sometimes have night sweats, and chills. My feet are so painful that I take Advil to sleep. My doctor tells me that it is just aging. This is not accurate because otherwise I am perfectly healthy mentally and physically.
Avatar f tn How many of you get exhaustion to the point where you can't do anything after a certain point? I have about 6 hours and then thats it, I have to nap, it's like I don't have a choice. It's so hard with a little 6 year old as most of you know all too well. After the surgery, how long until you feel up to doing light housework etc...? Does your fatigue get any better after surgery? Sending good vibes...
Avatar m tn Just a thought but if these seizure like episode ("blurred vision, really bad light headedness ,slurred speech, eyelids that refuse to open so just flutter, muscle control lapses you name it") have been happening to you for almost 2 decades, since you were a young child (8-10yrs) when exposed to hot weather or heat.
Avatar m tn ), and several hours of productive studio time when it became too hot to work outside. The noticable, but tolerable effects were less 'oomph', and a shortage of breath. After 6 weeks, the energy levels began to fall away, coinciding with an increase in the Riba rash. At 8 weeks, went to see the Doc re. the rash, who prescribed a steroidal treatment CLOBETASOL PROPIONATE FOAM .05%. This is where it went rapidly downhill.
Avatar m tn My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
