Avatar f tn I ended up getting so hot because someone cut the wires to our outside air conditioner :( I've been using ice to cool myself down while the house does and I feel almost normal again, just need some sleep. And I've heard of where you live lol :) just don't have a clue where it is! I have only lived here since late July of last year (moved from Illinois) and have had a lot of trouble adjusting to the harsher sun even before I got pregnant.
Avatar f tn Drink plenty of water or other fluids. Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeinated drinks because these can make heat exhaustion worse. Take a cool shower or bath, or apply cool water to your skin. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn Hello, Since you have anhidrosis, excessive exercise can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To prevent this, avoid excessive exercise, exercise in cooler climate, drink plenty of water, wear appropriate clothing and avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol as these liquids are dehydrating. Also get an evaluation done from a physician and check out the possible cause of anhidrosis.
Avatar f tn Dehydration can cause nausea and lead to a vicious cycle where the dehydration and heat do lead to heat exhaustion because the nausea prevents the intake of fluids which just adds to the dehydration and leads to the body getting hotter and hotter.
Avatar m tn s actually someone like a real stroke but heat stroke or heat exhaustion affects the brain in a different way and the ongoing symptoms are related to the body's reaction to heat or sun. Not everyone experiences ongoing sensitivity, and yours may ease off. But in my case, it was permanent. I remember those two incidents very well to this day, man I was sick (unbelievable). So in a way I am not surprised.
Avatar f tn A year ago I believe I suffered some heat exhaustion/stroke and since then, when i start getting hot during activities, i get chills up and down my spine, arms and legs. My calf muscle on my left side will tingle/becomes numb, i get dizzy , my face gets red, i can feel my heart pounding in my head and my breathing is rapid but shallow and i have trouble regulating it for a few minutes. It scares me.
Avatar m tn i was running in the sun for 3 hours and it was very hot suddenly i felt like my heart is beating rapidly and skipping beats and i was sweating and fatigued i stopped in a shady place for sometime and it all went back to normal, but the skipped beats kept happening to me afterwards for about a week, was it exhaustion or stroke?
Avatar n tn It sounds like your dog is suffering from heat exhaustion, so make sure she has access to plenty of fresh water. Heat exhaustion can quickly go to full-blown heat stroke which can be fatal if not treated. Hosing her down with the water hose in the heat of the day or after a walk will help. I recall my boss from several years ago who had an Italian Greyhound who nearly died of heat stroke here in Texas.
Avatar m tn I was walking in the sun for about two hours the weather was very hot it was 45 c i think, suddenly i felt like my heart is racing so fast with PVCs or skipped beats and i was sweating and very fatigued i went to a cool place where i drunk lots of fluids and it all went back to normal(but PVCs lasted for a week then it went away), was it Afib or just heat exhaustion? i want to a cardiologist and he said my heart muscle is fine, i run every day for 6 km, should i be concerned?
Avatar m tn It has really interfered with my ability to think clearly and lucidly. Is it possible that these car naps caused me to have some sort of heat exhaustion damage to my brain? Even if I were extremely exhausted, would my body be alerted out of sleep when the temperature or CO2 level gets too high before any damage to my nervous system begins? I have been to a neurologist several years ago and he says that eventually the headaches will go away.
Avatar m tn Nausea, dizziness and diarrhea are symptoms of heat exhaustion and electrolyte imbalances. Lastly, do you drink alcohol or take drugs recreationally? Suffer from stress or anxiety? All of these are factors that can attribute these symptoms.
Avatar m tn This is why people new to AA spend so much time calling their sponsors and others -and going to meetings- to get the support they need to deal with feeling like doggie -you know the rest. So now, the GAD is out in the open, and needs to be dealt with. Agreed, that if the course of meds you've been prescribed goes on for ever -and the results are as you expect (low libido, etc) then that's a tough deal.
Avatar f tn i am in nursing school and from what we were told and the patient follow up we did, sometimes we sweat entirely too much and if it were to be heat exhaustion and was not taken care of it could lead to a heat stroke and if water isn't helping as much as it should try drinking a gatorade, sometimes gatorade is actually better for you in the heat than the water bc of the electrolytes in it. but glad you are doing better!
Avatar m tn i was walking in the sun for probably 3 hours it was very hot 46 c this day, suddenly i felt my heart is racing and beating so fast with 3 ectopic beats in very few second, i stopped and put my hand on my heart it was beating too fast and strong, i cooled myself down and drank some fluids it all went back to normal(but the ectopic beats lasted for a week), went to a cardiologist he said i'm fine and it's just heat exhaustion, is it AFib or just palpitations with heat exhaustion?
Avatar f tn I had heat exhaustion yesterday. I had all the classic symptons. What are the after effects of heat exhausttion? Thank you.
Avatar m tn I'm a 37-year old male in excellent physical condition, swam in college and have been competing in triathlons for 15 years. Exactly 1 month ago I went for a 2-hour 35 mile bicycle ride in the blazing Florida summer heat (I know, not the smartest move) Though I've trained in the heat before and brought fluids with me on the ride, the 100+ heat index took it's toll.
Avatar m tn I remembered then in high school I got heat exhaustion when I went out for the field hockey team and had a fever of 103 and it took a whole day to recover and I was an athlete then, but not now. 2 of my coworkers have both lost days to heat so far and neither of them have heart issues so I'm being very cautious from now on.
Avatar m tn I noticed it is more prominent if I am in the sun for a long time and get overheated or I drink caffeine/alcohol. I have had a EEG and MRI done and it has turned back normal. I am just wondering what this might be, I would love to find a cure.
Avatar f tn Sounds like possible heat stroke/exhaustion . I know that some doctors don't like for you to "self diagnose" but it's worth mentioning. ERs are for emergencies and although a heat stroke is a true emergency, you waking up and passing out wouldn't give them the idea that it was heat stroke/exhaustion unless you forfeited the happenings of the prior day.
Avatar f tn s important to know the signs/symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and steps you can take to prevent them. Medications can also affect the body's ability to regulate temperature, so it might be worth asking your pharmacist some questions on this topic. It was brutal here yesterday with the temperature hitting 101 and the heat index registering 116. Hope everybody stays cool and has a great weekend.
Avatar m tn My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
Avatar m tn I have jogged and lifted weights since 1976 and eat healthy. In 2012 and 2013 I had major stresses that came from my job. I am a part owner of a company and was working 60-80hours a week. Stress all day long. I had to move on top of that. I was so fatigued after moving in late Dec I could hardly get out of bed. I was having insomnia every night and waking up 5 to 6 times a night. I thought I was going to die. I did a series of tests in late Dec 2013 and they were negative.
Avatar f tn It turned out to be heat exhaustion. I live in Florida with all the wonderful humidity. Turns out someone cut the wires to our outside air conditioning unit. I feel loads better now though :) even better than normal.
