Avatar m tn The infrared segment of the electromagnetic spectrum occurs just below (infra) to red light as the next lowest energy band of light. This band of light is not visible to human eyes but can be seen by special cameras. We can, however, feel this type of light that we perceive as heat. Our sun produces most of its energy output in the infrared segment of the spectrum. Our atmosphere has a window in it that allows infrared rays in the 7-14micron range to safely reach the earth' surface.
Avatar n tn My grandfather died in 1939 when my mom was only a few months old. There is a discussion among his children regarding the cause of death. My grandfather's brother wrote a history in which he stated that my grandfather died in the hospital "following a gall bladder operation. Following the operation he seemed to be making a satisfactory recovery, but subsequently started to hemorrhage.
Avatar n tn Hi and welcome to the Pain Management Community, Infrared is a band of light that we perceive as heat. It may provide some temporary pain releif. It is not a permanent or long term "fix" in my opinion. However before you try any new treatment or product you should always consult with your PCP. This may be harmless but it's always best to make sure that it will be harmless for you. I have had this treatment through PT in the past.
Avatar f tn I have moved to florida a year and a half ago and since then I have had a series of symptoms that no one can give me an answer on. I have developed an intolorence to heat, unable to sleep through the night, nausea, fatigue, head aches, feeling full after eating a small amount, irritability, anxiety and dry old looking skin. i recently saw my ob/gyn and she ran hormone and thyroid tests along with the usual yearly blood work and all came back normal. She prescribed Xanax to control the anxiety.

In addition to the athletes listed, AVN has affected Edward Van Halen, lead guitarist for the rock band Van Halen, Ed Graham, drummer of the bands The Darkness and Stone Gods, and Micky Dolenz, the drummer/singer of the band The Monkees. Recent research into the cause of death of Tutankhamun suggests that it may have been a factor in the pharaoh's death. I just found it interesting.

Avatar f tn If you are far enough along where your bump is protruding, I cannot speak highly enough of a maternity support band. I got one because I couldn't stand my back hurting that much! It helped me with posture and makes it where going to the grocery store is tolerable.
Avatar f tn Take a bath. That sometimes gets my baby off or she will move off where ever I need her to. Mine will get in positions that kill me. Sometimes if a bath doesn't work ill go for a walk. Which I know sounds super painful and is but whatever I can do to get her to move in a different position. Also instead of heat try ice..if heat was helping me as much in the past I'd ice where it hurt which would numb it.
Avatar f tn A IND (indeterminate) result on a Lyme specific band IS clinically significant in the presence of Lyme symptoms. Band 58 is also common with Lyme. And of course, nearly everyone with any spirochete has 41. Here is the paragraph from drjoneskids website on "Tests explained" regarding your IgG band 45: 45 cross-reactive for all Borellia (sometimes people with Lyme who have this band positive also have the co-infection Ehrlichiosis). Avatar f tn Im all belly and it was early on for me because i was all about comfort. I think by 15/16 weeks i couldn't wear my jeans, even with a rubber band, anymore. And i didn't even bother with a band thing, i wear leggings and yoga pants!!

Avatar n tn Is it on the outside of your leg? There is a muscle that is called the IT band that runs down the outside of your upper thigh to your knee. It is often tight and can cause a dull chronic sore pain. There are some stretches you can do to help alleviate this. Heating the area with moist heat will help too (since this is a chronic thing and cold seems to irritate it). Get a wash cloth and run it under warm water..stick it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and put that on the area. http://www.
Avatar m tn I have to agree. You're making yourself a nervous wreck over this obcession. You have a family, and they need you to be there for them, and this constant worry will kill you. See your doc about some meds to help you through this period, and start living your life with your family, instead of worrying it away. I know a lot of people who are benefiting from the "rubber band" therapy. Keep a rubber band on your wrist at all times.
