Common Questions and Answers about Heat cramps running

heat

Avatar f tn I honestly have not heard that you can't run. If its mild cramps, that's normal.
Avatar f tn So what exactly is heat intolerance and how does it relate to MS? I know the heat can exaggerate symptoms already there. But does MS make you more susceptible to getting overheated? I have noticed ever since the weather got hot (80s and 90s) I have trouble with the heat. As I've mentioned before, I run a lot. When I am running I get overheated way too fast. A lot fast than the other runners I train with.
Avatar f tn I gave up all training because the first few weeks I had major fatigue and cramps. Now I am feeling better and the race is Saturday. I was debating on jog/walking it. I've been reading mixed opinions on running that distance during the first trimester. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn Heat press does help with cramps just not to hot. i had them really bad my first 6 weeks and i found snuggling up with a heat pack and a comfy pillow helped.
Avatar f tn I'm 6weeks and 5days and going for a scan on Monday. I lost a baby in November and an having really bad cramps like when you come on your period. I know it's probably nothing but any advice on what I can to to help them ease off?

10821765 tn?1427311586 I fill a sock with rice and heat it in the microwave and put it on my sides and lower belly. Laying on your left side helps sometimes and occasionally benedryl helped me get to sleep through the discomfort.
Avatar f tn Can you use heat pads?
Avatar m tn This is really weird, but my husband gets abdominal cramps when he takes a warm shower, as soon as the water hits his abdominal area. The water isn't too hot, because he doesn't like really hot showers. Just comfortably warm. What could cause this?

Avatar m tn Another symptom which is less commonly talked about is rt side abdominal cramps while running. I am an experienced and competitive runner and have never had this problem prior to thyroiditis. Blood work and sonography negative for liver pancreas appendix gall bladder. Noticed co2 higher than normal plus elevated ESR C Reactive protein typical of disease. Symptom mgmt was 500 mg motrin and 50 mg atenolol weeks 2 to 3 after onset. Now week 4 no aches and pulse drop to 80.

Avatar m tn My husband suffered heat exhaustion a few days ago. He ran a fever of 101 all night w/ sweating off and on. Thinking he would be in the a/c he went back to work the next day and had to be outside to fix a part on the equipment he was running which set him off to a severe headache, he quit sweating, dry and hot, his muscles were starting to cramp and he said he felt like he could vomit, but never did. He had all the symptoms of a stroke, but didn't lose consciousness.
Avatar n tn I just got my period like right now and the cramps are already so bad i dont know what to do.
Avatar n tn Been having horrible cramps in the sides and front of my shins, not charley horses in the back, but ones you can really rub out of walk off. They happen overnight, every hour and a half or so, and just have to be patient and let them work themselves out. I've been dealing with this for a month now! I miss sleep. :-( tried all the home remedies. Been scanned for clots twice. Anyone else experiencing these that might have a suggestion on things to try?
Avatar f tn So I am just curious, why is heat such an enemy of mine now with MS? I see people posting about wearing freezer vest (not sure what they are called) and I'm wondering at what point does one with MS get to where you have to wear that? Now I do understand the fact that you want to try to maintain a normal core temperature at all time but where do you draw that line? Does it depend on how long you are out in the heat?
Avatar f tn m 7 weeks and 3 days pregnant and I had really bad cramping when I was 4 weeks up until 5 weeks and I have slight cramps now now to make me reach for the heat pack or anything and I'm not spotting But I was wondering if it's something I should be worried about My doc said if I'm not spotting that it's fine but I just want to know if anyone else has had this
