I've had a sore throat for three months with no other symptoms. In April, I went to Urgent Care, because it felt like my throat was on fire it was so unbelievably sore. After being tested I was told that I thankfully do not have strep throat. She prescribed me medication called Loratadine, which I began taking once a day and suggested taking a Benadryl every night before bed.
Not sure how to help with the heartburn but try a hot tea with honey (no dairy) to help with the throat. I do know if ur actually getting sick sudafed and normal robitussin and mucinex are safe to take while pregnant. But its still good to talk to ur doc and get their opinion on what to take. I know the first time I got sick durring my pregnancy I went to.
The throat specialist said my problems were due to reflux. I have no symptoms of reflux or heartburn. He said that didn't matter, it was still caused by reflux. ( I have been on Nexium, and Asteline spray for the throat. Very little help) The doctor did refer me to an ENT to have my stomach looked at. Is it possible for a hiatial hernia to cause problems with my throat and voice.

I have had heartburn for roughly a year and a half. I recently moved to the middle east and it has gotten alot worse. I had heartburn once for over a week. I'm always going to the hospital here. I recently had an endoscopy done and they found a large hiatel hernia. I was giving Nexium and told that should do the trick. I don't really get the heartburn that frequently but my throat is always sore, possibly from the acid reflux?
Actually you're not really far from the norm. Check out a condition called "LPRD", which is related to GERD. Basically the acid doesn't stop at your chest, it goes up to the back of your throat, dousing the vocal chords along the way. Pain in the ears doesn't seem to be common, but I've felt it as well, so I know what you're going through.

For the past several weeks, I have had a slight cough (varies from being dry to being phlegmy), shortness of breath, a sore throat (but not a scratchy sore. Like someone punched me in the throat sore). I'm constantly feeling like I have to clear my throat, and it currently feels like I have mucus stuck in my throat even though when I clear my throat to try and cough it up, nothing happens. I've been taking Prilosec but I feel like it hasn't been helping.
The days following up until today (Sunday), My throat has been hoarse, I keep needing to clear my throat and now today my throat is sore. Can acid reflux be causing all of this? If so are H2 meds like Pepcid and Zantac ok, or are PPI meds like Prilosec and Prevacid better? Thanks and have a great day!
Okay I had figured out that my sore throat was a neck muscle problem also know as sternocleidomastoid syndrome and which I get referred pain in my throat and other symptoms. I have been stretching out that muscle and my sore throat problem has resolved. But my chest pain still persists and I am also a little constitpated. Also just to add I was a heavy drinker drinking almost everyday for the past 2 or 3 months. And after I would drink I would drink a lot of water.
I weighed 53 kg four years ago and I had been experiencing shortness of breath, difficulty in swallowing saliva, heartburn and palpitation. I am on .075 mcgs of levothyroxine. In the last month i have developed a sore throat of sorts. I have had increased difficulty swallowing and a hoarse voice. its been 3days since i feel like theres something in my throat, its like a small ball blocking on my throat. my throat are not i sore, i dont have tonsillitis neither. whenever im eating i feel like its gone,and when im done eating it will come back.. its so irritable to swallow even water becaues your like flushing something that cannot be flush. im gettin so worried because i feel like its getting worst everyday..can anyone answer me?? thanks.
