Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn symptoms in infants

heartburn

Avatar m tn With laryngopharyngeal reflux, you may not have the classic symptoms of GERD, such as a burning sensation in your lower chest (heartburn). That's why it can be hard to diagnose and is sometimes called silent reflux.
Avatar m tn i was at a party and a girl who had recently became a mother, put breastmilk on her finger and put it in my mouth, I have read that enzymes and stomach acid would kill the virus, but I am on anti-depressants, tablets that reduce stomach acid and metformin for type 2 diabetes, would I still have the neccesary enzymes and stomach acid to kill the virus taking into consideration my medical conditions, I also do not know her HIV status do not know a lot about her
Avatar n tn Yes, it *is* definitely possible. There is something called silent acid reflux, where you have reflux but don't feel any heartburn symptoms. For the first year I had acid reflux, this is what I had, and my only symptom was a persistent cough that never went away, plus a propensity for getting bronchitis with high frequency. When my reflux is bad, the acid gets into my lungs and causes me to cough.
1361044 tn?1277598308 Honestly, in my opinion, babies are so wrapped up in this new world, all the new things going in for them, that a little cold (virus) hardly slows them down. it could be your baby is behind because she doesn't feel well all the time, and THAT is holding her back. Maybe not, but in either case I would push for them to figure it out. Chalking it all down to a virus is a lazy, sorry excuse. My point is, YOU DO know your child more than anyone.

Avatar m tn Hi this is my first time using these boards but I was wondering if anyone could help explain this to me. About three or four weeks ago I went to the doctor complaining of a stomach and abdominal pressure and a tightness in my chest. He gave ranitadine 150mg to take in the morning and night, and then tums before meals.
Avatar m tn I was told to but a little gas X (something sold in the states over the counter for infants who have acid reflux/heartburn, indigestion, etc.) either in the corner of his mouth after feeding or in his bottle when I gave him a bottle. It got better. But that is just my story and I can not advise you really as you have worked with doctors and that is where you need to get info from. All the best and please let me know how it goes, okay?
Avatar f tn I feel Gerd and milk allergy are grossly overdiagnosed in infants. Lactose overload has been diagnosed in breast-fed infants now - and I believe it is also found in babies.
Avatar f tn lol it's still VERY early for you!!! maybe you're having symptoms super early, but that's REALLY early for heartburn & stuff.. unless you're eating something to cause it. a lot of women don't get symptoms until 6 weeks or further along.. I'm up once again, 4:30 a.m. with heartburn, insomnia, ugh.. I still feel blessed though!!!
Avatar n tn I am having the same symptoms. Heartburn, back pain, lightheaded and neausea, I also had lots of belching but I do that to try and stop the neausea. I took my blood pressure and it was 146/91 and BPM was 86, my normal is about 110/66 and BPM is about 65 to 70. I had Reflux surgery 15 years ago and have not had heartburn since, until last night. Symptoms have gone away since the middle of the night. History of my family.

216278 tn?1308861082 Good Morning, I was wondering why you took away 'heartburn' as a pregnancy symptom and replaced it with 'acid reflux'. From someone who has both of them, I can tell you with all certainty that they are VERY different and it's frustrating that I can't choose heartburn when I am experiencing it. This tracker has been very beneficial for me and would like to be able to continue to use it to track my symptoms.
Avatar f tn I felt some odd sensations I can only describe as pulling in my lower abdomen. Lower back pain. But...those are also sometimes symptoms of your period coming on. Anyway...I know that wait until you can test is sheer torture - everyone here has been through it. Just try to keep yourself busy for the next few days!
Avatar f tn Determining the sex of a baby by the symptoms you're having is the same as dangling a string over your belly to give you an answer.
Avatar f tn My husband has cravings and heartburn.... He has gained a couple of pounds....
Avatar f tn I'm 8 weeks along and the only symptoms I'm having are heartburn and fatigue. I haven't experienced nausea or sickness or even bloating. Do some people just develop the symptoms later than others?
715930 tn?1338722436 hiya heartburn can affect you in different ways so it may just be that and maybe over the counter remedies are not working because it is too strong go to your doctor who can maybe give you some stronger medication to help with the symptoms your having. good luck hope you get it all sorted.
Avatar f tn Have a few questions. I know all pregnancy is different but I know want to hear different stories. This is my 2nd pregnancy. Just found out having another child and everything is already different from 1st. I have a 2yr old daughter. I'm 7weeks and eating alot more, more heartburn and already really sick. Are boy and girl symptoms different?
Avatar n tn Hi all, about 3 weeks ago i started to have feeling of something stuck in my throat, for the first couple of days, i experienced heartburn, but after taking medicine from my family doctor heartburn was gone, and one weeks later most of the symptoms is gone except the feeling of something stuck on my throat, however, I was experiencing some back neck pain by my upper spinal cord area. 1084115 tn?1385228589 Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which the stomach contents (food or liquid) leak backwards from the stomach into the esophagus (the tube from the mouth to the stomach). This action can irritate the esophagus, causing heartburn and other symptoms.
