Avatar n tn ve tried so many remedies for heartburn (including Aciphex, Nexium, Zantac, Betaine HCL, baking soda, Pepto Bismol) that don't work. I'm curious if it isn't heartburn at all. Are there any other diseases/conditions that can cause extreme burning/gripping/tight sensations in that area? Thanks a lot in advance for any responses.
Avatar f tn The lump could be from the GERD/acid reflux. It is important to get the GERD under control to prevent more damage. Do you know how to do this with dietary changes, enzymes and probiotics, all without OTC/prescription GERD meds? The other thing the lump could be is post nasal drip possibly from allergies. GERD and allergies (whether from food or environmental) can cause sinus issues. Do you feel like you are constantly swallowing to get rid of the lump in your throat?
Avatar f tn Just wondering with other lexapro users if severe (and I mean severe not just heartburn) GERD and other GI issues are a long term side effect? I know that heartburn has been listed as a short term side effect but I have been on this med for 2 years and these GI symptoms are slowly bubbling up and getting worse!!
Avatar m tn I've had severe heartburn issues every since I was 14. I had an endoscopy when I was 16 and the doctors found nothing, so the prescribed me a rather high dose of Pantoprazole, which I had taken until I was 18. After a few years of being on the medicine, I noticed that the Pantoprazole alone wasn't enough to tame my daily heartburn, (which, ironically enough, wasn't set off by certain foods, but in fact tamed it.
203342 tn?1328737207 Well, I tried to post this question the other day and didn't get any response so I thought I'd try again. I'm on Entocort and Nexium for my Crohns and Gastritis. I have almost constant heartburn and gas and it's making me miserable. According to the directions on my medication, I'm not supposed to take ant-acids with this medication. I'm not sure what to do or what can help with this. I'm beginning to wonder if the medication exasberates things.
3777851 tn?1348968120 Very interesting... I wonder why my gastro hasn't said anything. I've had GERD for years. At one point I was told that my GERD was responsible for my many cases of pneumonia.
2089297 tn?1332716794 Meanwhile, millions of people around the world are taking acid suppressing drugs that not only fail to address the underlying causes of heartburn and GERD, but put them at risk of serious (and even life-threatening) conditions.
Avatar n tn first and most importantly i am not a dr just a well informed 7 year gerd prisoner....the main thing to cure gerd is to simply eat less. think of it as a math equation...the more you eat the more acid our stomach uses to break down food...hence the less food you eat the less acid...so dont go starving yourself but plain and simple one has to eat less food period...so if you eat three sandwiches a day eat two... this is a guarantee ...
Avatar m tn I have heartburn everyday for the past 2 weeks when i wake up to when i go to bed. Avatar n tn I get acid reflux several times a month....its usually will last about a week and then its ok for a week or so...sometimes I don't have it for months and then its back. Anyway, I don't take meds except an occasional pepcid, which usually doesn't work. I have heard about home remedies such as apple cider vinegar (which sometimes works, but not always) Does anyone know anything else. I hate to take prescription drugs if I don't have to.

Avatar f tn Thank you very much for your reply. I am amazed of how great God has provided you with this knowledge. Three Doctors: my family Doctor, a ENT and an Endocronologist told me I don't have GERD because I don't have any heartburn. Now your reply make things clear....thank you very much indeed. May God continue to give you more good knowledge and more success in helping others. God bless you and all Medhelp people.
396332 tn?1320003615 Chronic acid reflux leads to uncomplicated GERD, but not everyone with GERD has heartburn. The primary symptoms of GERD are heartburn, regurgitation, and nausea. Heartburn usually is described as a burning pain in the middle of the chest. It may start high in the abdomen or may extend up into the neck. Sometimes the pain may be sharp or pressure-like, rather than burning. Such pain can mimic heart pain (angina). In other patients, the pain may extend to the back.
Avatar f tn im going in for antireflux surgery next month and have suffered with severe heartburn for 6 yrs, my question is can it cause arm and hand pressure/pain as well as head pressure?
Avatar f tn for the past few months I have been getting severe heartburn, no matter what I eat I seem to get heartburn daily. I tried anti-acids but they dont really work. Now I'm starting to have a lot of bloating & not only am I always burping but also passing a lot of gas.. I dont know if these two are related, I dont know if this is a serious problem. I did go see my doctor and she gave me pills that dont seem to do much either.
Avatar f tn I never mentioned the stones once to the specialist because of this, I was diagnosed with a fungal infection in my mouth in October 2020, but after taking antibiotics the following swab came back negative. I also suffer from GERD and have had heartburn since 2015 and been on omeprazole daily since 2017, which stops the heartburn completely, however if I miss out for a day or two the heartburn comes back.
Avatar m tn Hi everyone again. I have posted many, many questions to do with heartburn, acid reflux(i think partly iam becoming obsessed looking for answers). i have not yet gone to a doctor but from my own thoughts and people on this website its almost %100 that i have some form of acid reflux problem.. I ve been able to keep the acid from coming up. ive take a combination of zantac, gaviscon liquid, lots of water and ginger tea. They all seem to be working wonders..
678297 tn?1226546462 I actually think I second the person mentioning the heartburn...believe it or not, you can still have symptoms of heartburn without the classic "burn". Especially if you have excess stress (which it sounds like you do)...your stomach produces excess acids...and bingo, you can have problems. I would try taking some Mylanta...it's very soothing on the throat, and the stomach/chest area. Swelling in your esophogus can lead to all of the symptoms you're describing...
