Im 22 weeks 5 days and was curious if anyone else has suffered from horrible heartburn and bad stomach pain. My stomach pain is like gas pain or something. It has lasted all day. I was up most the night from the pain.

Anyone experience upper stomach pain? Is this due to pregnancy or just maybe a upset stomach?

Pepto-Bismol is an over-the-counter drug used for treatment of nausea, heartburn, indigestion, upset stomach, diarrhoea, and other temporary discomforts of the stomach and gastrointestinal tract. Ginger ale is often used as a home remedy to alleviate indigestion or motion sickness. Hence you can take them and once you feel slightly better you can get antacids and anti-emetics form the pharmacy. Hope this helps.

After I eat the pain gets worse and I just tried to drink some juice and had an immediate increase in pain again. It is constant but gets worse any time I eat or drink anything. The pain does not seem serious but I am very uncomfortable and a bit concerned. Any one else had this if so what causes this and is there anyway to get relief?

My midwife sent me to a chiropractor for my lower abdominal pain (round ligament pain) and rib pain. It was almost instant relief. The following morning I experienced no pain at all :) make sure its a chirp that specializes in pregnancy.

Heartburn so bad you wake up choking on stomach acid. Also, sciatic pain and tailbone pain! Oh...and my feet feel like they're collapsing....LOL!

Sorry your daughter has been in so much pain. I know with my heartburn it just burns from my stomach up to my throat. Could she have a ulcer? I know when I had one my stomach hurt and it felt like cramping. have you taking her to a family dr? I would start there. And maybe when she is having these pains to have her eat some tums or something that is for heartburn just to see if that helps because those meds also help with ulcer pain.

Heartburn, even if it is severe, is normal for pregnancy. I feel your pain and am so sorry you are having to deal with it :( Talk to your doctor. They can prescribe you medication for it. You can use tums, but that will make you super constipated it you take them too often. Nobody wants that... Good luck! Hope it gets better for you. Getting a prescription was a lifesaver for me.

I feel that everything u eat gives me a heartburn :-( I end up throwing up acidy !!!

Talk to your doctor...they actually have me on prilosec and it's amazing for the acid/heartburn (prilosec is a class C drug, zantac is a little safer as a class B, but didn't work for me) but unfortunately I still wake up chocking on stomach content if I eat or drink after 5pm (it just doesn't burn like before)...

Have you had a lot of heartburn? If so, it could be that your stomach acid has irritated your esophagus. That is what is happening to me.

hey everybody.. I have been having so much pain in my actual stomach like under sternum that radiates to my back, kind of like a burning, it is incredibly uncomfortable just sitting here.. worse wit eating and even drinking water... I had a positive prego test and there is more to that story.. but the question right now is .... at like 5-6 weeks can the GERD/reflux be this bad due to pregnancy? I also posted on the gastroenterology forum to see if somebody there experienced this...

Had heartburn with each pregnancy,even water gave me heartburn, didn't go away after my 3rd, preggo with my 4th now...it's awful stuff to deal with. I always keep tums and Zantac close by!! Good luck!

I found that panting like i was having a conraction helped with the pain of it! I lived on antacids during my pregnancy and they are safe to take.

if what you asking is "could this be due to pregnancy" it's unlikely. heartburn in pregnancy is due to a number of things one being the size pf the pregnant uterus pushing the stomach and causing reflux. Also higher levels of progesterone during pregnancy cause acid reflux to occur. I feel this is too early to be pregnancy related. good luck.
