Avatar n tn I have had horrible heartburn with this pregnancy since the begining.. I do not take anything for it other than TUMS... I would mention it to your dr but pretty much you can have it .. not have it.. it can last days or my case months... I drink milk to help as well.
Avatar f tn I drink a small cup of milk to stop the burning! Seems to help for me!
Avatar m tn I take pepcid and I do not like taking meds, but my heartburn was so bad that it was making me ill and nauseous. It has worked miracles and the Dr. says it safe.
Avatar f tn I've had heartburn in my sleep every time for the passed 3 nights. I don't know what to do. I mean it goes away after a while I just don't want to rely on runs. So I've been drinking milk and laying on my left side but is there anyway I can prevent it before it happens?! It's been keeping me up and it's so obnoxious. My baby better be born with a full head of hair!
Avatar n tn I feel your pain! During my first trimester I was miserable! The gas was horrid! Thankfully my husband is very supportive and would comfort me and help me find ways to deal with it all. Unfortunately, I found no way to cope. I just had to ride it out. Try an antiacid that doubles as a calcium supplement. That really helped with the heartburn. I'm 24 weeks now and still dealing with gas and heartburn but it is not near as bad as it was. Hang in there mama!
454221 tn?1259445739 My understanding is that Prilosec had not been assigned a category for pregnancy by the FDA because its effects during pregnancy are unknown. Not taking the Prilosec until you have spoken about this with your doctor on Thursday as a wise idea - in the meantime, you can take tums (or a generic equivalent) to help w/ the heartburn. I hope you feel a little better soon.
Avatar n tn I am 7 weeks pregnant, and I am really having trouble at night with gas, heartburn. It's almost like the gas moves to my chest when I lay down for bed (even after waiting 3 hours after eating) causing lots of pressure along with heartburn. Which wakes me up at night, causing diarrhea and a little vomiting too. This has been nothing like my last pregnancy with my son(he's 2).
Avatar f tn I normally just take some Maalox. My heartburn was so bad at one point I had to take some before I ate or drank anything & still had to take some afterwards. If it doesn't seem to get any better I would ask your doctor about heartburn medications.

Avatar n tn Hi ladies, im 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant. Im having really bad heartburn and acidic reflux.. have u guys experienced something similar and do u know anything that can ease the situation?
8765505 tn?1399764936 Dont know of any way to prevent it. Some ppl say drinking milk help.. I just call it one of those things.. My poor butt hurts from having to sit up and i still get it. I personally dont take anything for it i just suffer through it.. 33weeks counting down..
Avatar f tn I never had issues with heartburn or acid reflux until pregnancy. I try tums first, but if it doesn't help I take zantac (which is actually to prevent, not treat it). I spoke with my doc & have to take zantac daily. My acids reflux usually happens around the same time every day, which helps in taking it as a preventative. I'm also a ftm & am now at 34wks.
Avatar f tn Having a full head of hair doesn't give you heartburn, that is a myth. I had terrible heartburn with my first and he barely had any hair at all. Eat tums. Sometimes I take a few within like 30 min if it's bad. Also you can take zantac once a day to try and prevent it.

Avatar f tn Its fine with my first pregnancy there wasn't enough tapatio in the world to satisfy my craving for spicy foods. I even ate jalapeƱos...and before that I was someone that couldn't eat hot cheetos because they would make me choke! That kid had me dipping hot cheetos in tapatio as a midnight snack lmao!
582963 tn?1483452520 Heart burn, for me, has been my worst pregnancy symptom. With my first pregnancy I had heartburn for a whole week. It never let up... so I tested an got a bfp. I'm 29 weeks pregnant now an heart burn an swelling has been my only symptoms. I never had morning sickness or any thing like that. I nick named my baby, this pregnancy, BABY TUMS at about 7 weeks. I have tums by my bed, in my purse, an in my car. LOL. So needless to say it depends on the person.
Avatar f tn Finally, my mother (genius women) told me to take a TUMS before my meal instead of after that was it will prevent the heartburn! It worked for me!
