Avatar f tn Have you looked at the signs and symptoms of GERD or GORD. This is chronic reflux which causes heatburn and gas. Increased stomach acid after eating exacerbates symptoms as does the sleeping position. Usually the GP will prescribe PPI's like Omeprazole. If you aint happy taking meds, try some lifestyle changes. Google GERD and GORD though and you'll get some good info.

Avatar n tn I had the same problem beginning at around 20 weeks and the heartburn only intensified the further into the pregnancy I got, to the point that I couldn't keep any food down. I talked to my doctor and he gave me a once a day prescription of Prilosec. That didn't work so he switched me to Zantac, and when that stopped working he increased my dose go twice a day. That has been the most successful for me.
Avatar f tn I thought it was my son not letting the food threw but when i went to the Dr for heartburn she said its just a symptom of heartburn. I felt so full and the food sat there forever. I even got sick a time or 2 because it wasn't going anywhere. Talk with your Dr. I got put on zantac for my heartburn and it has helped with the food just sitting there in my stomach. Im supposed to take it twice a day but i take it in the morning and ill take it at night as needed.

Avatar f tn As for my medical history I have never suffered from heartburn before. I am currently seeing an Internal Medicine Dr after contracting Parvovirus 10 months ago, which is causing chronic muscle and joint pain, along with an over active thyroid (recent bloods showed the thyroid was stabilizing). I am also due to see an ENT Dr at the end of February to discuss chronic pain that I have had in my throat for at least 5/6 months (perhaps caused by the thyroiditis?).
