Avatar f tn If it's a contraction, it hasn't stopped in at least 30 minutes, but I'm having a very sharp pain in my upper abdomen that won't stop. It's not gas and the baby isn't in my ribs, but the pain is right under my ribs. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn I have been having this pain in my upper left abdomen, under left breast. I've had a mammography, and all is normal. The pain is occasional. Has anyone had this? I'm having a colonscopy in a few days, but I don't think the test goes that far into the abdomen. I have had a colonoscopy 8 years ago and all was fine. If anyone has had this, please let me know.
Avatar n tn I am a 25 year old woman who for the past 4 years has had persistent and growing pain in the upper left quadrant of my abdomen. It is an almost constant pain felt more acutely when I sit and most when I lay down at the end of the day. It was relieved significantly during my pregnancy (my daughter is 18 mos now) but returned even more severely soon after I had her.
Avatar m tn I have had pain in my upper right abdomen that comes and goes throughout the day for the last 3 months. Sometimes the pain is acute. ER Dr. suspected gallbladder but all blood tests were normal and ultrasound was normal. Had a pos. H.pylori blood test so went on antibiotic treatment. Had an endoscopy which showed no abnormalities or ulcers. The baffling thing is this: the pain is very intense WHILE I am eating sweet things like pineapple or fruit juice etc.
Avatar f tn Hi, I am female and 17 years old. For the last few years I have had pain in the upper abdomen/ directly between and below my ribcage. The pain usually lasts at least a half an hour, sometimes longer, and I have problems breathing deeply. When I push between my lower ribs/ upper abdomen it is painful. It also occurs when I have been laying on my stomach for a little while, and I have to roll over because of the pain. What could cause this?
Avatar f tn I am 5 weeks 4 days today. For the past few days I get this odd sensation in my upper abdomen. It's like a tingling, burning feeling across my upper belly, like above my belly button. It doesn't hurt, but it is a little uncomfortable. Just wondering if anyone has experienced this?
Avatar m tn Today I’ve been experiencing a stabbing-like pain, only occasionally and usually instant, in my upper left abdomen about an inch or so down from my rib cage. This pain seems like it goes straight through me or around my side sometimes and too my back when it happens. I’ve felt somewhat of a dull ache in this spot for a while but just today, it’s started turning into stabbing like sensations. Any idea what this could be?
Avatar m tn Constipation--in the left upper abdomen is the splenic flexure which is a really sharp turn in the colon, and can be a very painful spot for anyone who is a little "plugged up" This is especially true during pregnancy because the baby presses inward on the colon the same way he presses on the outer abdominal wall. TONS of fluids and maybe even a laxative like lactulose can help to relieve constipation pain, which will also get better after delivery.
Avatar f tn Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach. In this case you'd feel pain in the middle upper abdomen, just below the breastbone. You'd probably have heartburn. Pain would be worse after acidic food (vinegar, vitamin C, aspirin...) Upper right pain is most often from gallbladder (stones). Pain would be worse after the meal, especially one rich with fats. CT cannot exclude gallstones, since very small gallstones can not be detected. Ultrasound is also not enough. You can: 1.
Avatar n tn So I have gone to the doctors twice over the past two months because I have been having pains in my chest and upper abdomen. I went once in May and again just yesterday. Both times I had an EKG test done and I also had tests done for gallbladder, and stomach bacteria. Both of my EKG's came back normal, and according to both doctors my heart looks great. The tests for gallbladder and stomach bacteria also came back negative. So both doctors think that I am suffering from severe heartburn.
Avatar m tn m feeling OK. I still have heartburn, chest and back pain and some vague upper right quadrant pain but not nearly to the extent it was before. I also haven't had any intense acute pain since surgery (had that a few times before). Here is the pathology report: "Received in formalin is a gallbladder 8.0 cm in length x 2.0 cm in average diameter. The external surface is purple tan and finely vascularized. The hepatic bed is brown-tan and ragged.
Avatar f tn The past month I have been having on and off heartburn. Pain in the upper back. Mild pain in upper and lower abdomen. And sometimes around my chest. And after all this pain will occur (which is on and off) I will sometimes get the sensation to either pass gas or have to make a bowel movement. If I do either or, the pain will simmer down. It always feels like I have something in my throat which I had some tonsil swelling in the beginning of April which is still on and off.
Avatar n tn ve had heartburn and been getting pains in my upper abdomen kind of under my ribs it comes and goes it feels like I have wind but I was wondering could it be braxton hicks? Could anyone explain what it feels like?
396332 tn?1320003615 I just got my upper endoscopy done today. On the sheet my doctor gave me his findings read "patulous lower exophageal sphinter" and "Gastric mucosal abnormality characterized by erythema". He also took a biopsy of part of my stomach where that gastric mucosal abnormality was. I guess that means my doctor said he saw red inflamated parts of my stomach. But I am just wondering what exactly those two terms mean? Apparently I have GERD becuase of all the acid being built up....
Avatar f tn ve been having this lil sharp pain on the side of my belly button, everytime I get up from sitting down. Also, on my upper tummy, idk of its heartburn but I doubt it. Because never got heartburn b4, only once when I ate something super spicy. Idk if it's round ligament pain. But I'm concerned?

Avatar f tn I too felt the same 2 months back ... Still I feel full in my upper abdomen ..
Avatar n tn In the past 4 years since this, I have never again had an attack like that, however I often have bouts of discomfort in my upper abdomen that will last for a few hours to a few days at a time. Usually months go by in between these times. When this happens, it's never sharp pain, just a feeling of discomfort - almost as though that part of my abdomen (above my stomach, but at least a few inches below the sternum) is bloated.
Avatar f tn Is the pain in the upper or lower abdomen? I forgot about my mother's gastritis pain (upper left abdomen). Digestive enzymes heal the stomach lining although this takes time to heal.
Avatar f tn If its tightness accompanied by pain in the upper abdomen that radiates around to the back-it may be gall bladder related-especially if accompanied by vomiting. Talk to your doc about it.
