Avatar f tn Hi Mummys, I'm 32wks today.. I've had heartburn throughout my entire pregnancy and at the begining was prescribed Zantac as I couldn't take my normal Nexium tablets. I started seeing another doctor who took me off the tablets which upset me because they worked so well, he advised I take things like Quick-Eze or Mylanta, so I tried both.
Avatar f tn Any tips to relieve my heartburn?? :( this is my first time getting it during the pregnancy && I'm 28 weeks tomorrow.
3166744 tn?1357930247 You can take tums but if you want long lasting relief zantac really helps
Avatar f tn I use tums during the day and take a pepcid at night before bed. Also I eat dinner as early as possible..around 5 or 6.
Avatar f tn In my first pregnancy I could get heart burn from drinking milk. It just happens, after months of being so uncomfortable I could hardly sleep, I finally spoke to my midwives and they got me a wonderful pill to take every 24 hrs and my heart burn was gone as long as I took it. Maybe ask your doctor at your appt.
Avatar f tn Omg, I'm 26 weeks and 4 days along and for the last 2 weeks (at least) I've been having the worst burning sensation in my chest/tummy area on and off sometimes it feels like that in my throat as well and i get nauseous but I dont vomit.. I can't tell of it's heartburn or acid reflux or what (I believe it is heartburn just never had it til now).. anyway it happens a lot I've tried tums and peppermint tea and it doesn't help at all.. I have no idea what else to try..

400885 tn?1297698918 i had HORRIBLE heartburn and would take tums like they were candy thru the night. well they say women who have a lot of heartburn during pregnancy have children with a lot of hair.....
4562329 tn?1363818660 Ya that's why I would just ask the doc what you can take. Unfortunately the hormone relaxin is to blame for the heartburn. I hope it gets better.
2030273 tn?1329708650 I have awful heartburn and acid reflux. I usually take some tums with a little bit of milk and make sure I sit up afterwards. I have severe nausea too and the heartburn always makes me get sick again. It's common in pregnancy... but I know how bad it *****!
Avatar f tn Honestly. . I just woke up out my sleep because of heartburn. .. take a tablespoon of mustard. . You feel the heartburn going down, and it's instant relief. ..
Avatar f tn I'm and 22 weeks now and FTM. I started to had heartburn just with certain food like rice. I stopped eating rice and I dont have anymore more heartburn. The only thing I took to help was Tums.
Avatar f tn Best bet go with Tums....I have heartburn extremely bad before and during pregnancy my doctor said Tums was great because it's does a two and one deal relieve my heartburn and provide me with extra Calcium..
Avatar f tn m 28 weeks and have heartburn almost this entire pregnancy. I had acid reflux years ago before I lost a bunch of weight. That combined with my on the job experience (RN) has taught me some tricks over the years. Tums are good for mild relief quickly but Zantac will last longer. Both can be taken safely during pregnancy but check with your doctor first as every pregnancy and person is different. Zantac can be taken twice a day and Tums as needed.
Avatar n tn m 34 weeks along and have continued morning sickness, heartburn, vomiting, constipation, continued weight loss, hands and feet going numb, insomnia, mood swings, jaw pain, wrist pain, groin pain, swelling of hands and feet. I feel like I'm losing my mind and that my body is turning against me!! I feel like my doctor either thinks I'm crazy or making it all up. The baby is growing and healthy which I am ecstatic about but I can't get my doctor to do anything for me.
Avatar f tn So i have acid reflux even before my pregnancy but it has turned into a living hell. Something as simple as an apple or a drink of milk will trigger it. I have tried everything. Tums have quit working. I use papaya enzymes and they help a little bit. I have the head of my bed raised 4 inches off the floor. I ear a yogurt every night before i sleep which also helps a tad bit.
5739386 tn?1378836460 Tums are not recommended during pregnancy anyway, so if they don't work, forget taking them. My sister took papaya tablets, but those did nothing for my heartburn when pregnant. Someone on the site wrote about peppermint tea being a godsend. Why not try it, it certainly can't hurt!!! Also try sleeping in a more sitting-up position.
Avatar f tn Take some TUM TUM TUM TUM TUMS anticid®, for heartburn relief. Always work for me. Hate the chalky taste but they seem to work, so I look past that. If that does not work, try Pepcid, Gaviscon, Prilosec OTC, Omeprazole, Pepto, Zegerid OTC, Equate Acid Relief or Alka-Seltzer. If you do not want to go to the store, try a quick remedy-- baking soda or cold milk. And also, you can use PregEase. It treats morning sickness and heartburn.
