Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn and ovarian cancer

heartburn

Avatar f tn change in bowel and urinary patterns heartburn feeling of fullness bloating There is an old saying, don't waste a good panic....you are worrying about something that you might not even have. If it were me, I would go for the sonogram and immediately find a new doctor. Are you seeing a gynocologist?
Avatar n tn I asked her if she was seeing something bad and she said she cant really say anything. I told her she was scaring me and I said I was scared of ovarian cancer. She asked me if I had a family history of ovarian cancer and I told her no. She was very nice but she has me so worried. She told me she would have it read and they would get back to me. I told her I was very very scared and she told me she really cant tell me anything but proceeded to say I dont see anything REALLY scarey.
Avatar n tn I do go to my gyn regularly and I do not have a history of ovarian cancer in my family. I have just read some internet stuff though, that talks about indigestion and ovarian symptoms. Maybe it is a different type of indigestion that is associated with ovarian, I don't know. I just want to be sure that I have done my due diligence. I guess it is hard for me to believe that this gerd is not caused by something really bad that I am not aware of, lurking in my body.
Avatar f tn But the bloat continues and now a lump shows up. I googled the symptoms the other day and Ovarian Cancer popped up. All of my symptoms were on that list, which scares the life out of me. What I am afraid of is that all the tests are going to come back again, no problem and then what. I am so tired of this swelling and my lower back hurts all the time now. What should I expect from this surgeon. And what questions should I be asking him.
Avatar f tn Most cyst are benign. With the size, I assume they are suggesting surgery? Have you had a CA125 test? We always suggest to have a gyn/oncologist review your case, and if surgery is done, that this type of doctor perform this. Best wishes to you.
506477 tn?1225515279 If you are haveing problems two months out from chemo it could be that your cancer is not platimum sensitve and might need another drug. Most fuild is stopped when the cancer is gone. I am sure your doctor is doing the right thing if he does a tap it wioll tell him if there are still cancer cells. good luck unfortunately this stuff happens.
Avatar f tn So what are the common signs and symptoms of ovarian cancer? To answer this question, researchers from the University of Minnesota in the United States recently reviewed medical records of 107 women diagnosed over a 12-year period to 1997. They published their findings in this month's Mayo Clinic Proceedings.
Avatar f tn Do ovarian cyst symptoms and ovarian cancer symptoms look the same? I ask because I have the following: -gas -bloat/distended stomach -pressure -changes in BM's (constipation and diarrhea) -get full easily after eating -tired/fatigues -heartburn/indigestion -changes in menstruation Thank you.
Avatar f tn maternal grandmother had breast cancer, which then spread to the bones -she died not long after turning 49 yrs old. Her sister died of ovarian cancer - not sure of her age. My mother had cervical cancer - first diagnosed around 30-31 yrs old, and then a recurrence. She died at 35 yrs old. Paternal great-aunt had breast cancer. Not much else is known on paternal side due to family not really communicating. I would really appreciate people's opinion on this.
Avatar f tn First off I have not been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, but have an appt. this Wednesday for a check. My history is stage 2 breast cancer (8 years ago at the age of 35)..I also had one ovary removed about 6 years ago due to a cyst that was causing non stop bleeding. I have had no period since going through chemo for breast cancer. Recently (past 5 months) I have had swelling in my stomach.
Avatar f tn Breast cancer @ 45 and thyroid cancer @ 48. I am now 50. I eat healthy, walk for 45 minutes at least 5 out of 7 days, play tennis and softball. With the exception of the two cancers I am usually healthy. Just recently, actually over a weekend I gained 10 pounds. My husband looked at me in the shower and commented on how bloated I was. I look like I am pregnant. I am unusually tired, and have had some sharp pains in my lower abdomen.
Avatar n tn I have stage 1C ovarian cancer. I had a hysterectomy and staging surgery on November 15, 2007, and am currently undergoing chemotherapy. I am 46 years old, and had normal levels of hormones prior to diagnosis. Following the surgery, my doctor put me on estrogen patches (HRT). It is his belief that the benefits of estrogen outweigh the risks at my age. My pathology report showed that my ovarian cancer was estrogen receptive/reactive. So why is HRT okay?
1852163 tn?1321383972 I have recently been told by OBGYN, that they found a large mass on my right ovary and will need a Hysterectomy, with the removal of ovary and falipen tubes, they also ordered a CA-125 test to be done. about 7 mths ago, I had a papsmear done, and she found a lump the size of an orange in the same place, she didnt make a big deal out of it, so I thought it was fine, then about two months later, I had an ultrasound done, again they didnt make a big deal out the cyst or whatever they found.
579959 tn?1218310678 A complex left ovary cyst is seen with septation and possible hypoechoic nodule. The cyst mass measures 8.8 x 9.7 x 8.5 cm. No free fluid is seen within the pelvis. The right ovary was unable to be visualized. The appendix is unable to be visualized. Complex left ovarian cystic mass. This would be favored to represent a cystadenoma. Gynecologic consultation continues to be advised I'm worrying myself sick thinking the worst.
Avatar f tn The cyst is 3X4 cms on my left ovary and I can only assume is applying pressure to my bowels and bladder as there have been changes in behaviour. I am bloated all the time and I have had constant (24/7) heartburn for 3 weeks. I have a follow up ultrasound 3 weeks but do not want to be on pain killers all day everyday and I am very converned that this is more than just a cyst that will go away on its own. My doctor isn't seeing an urgency.
Avatar n tn Ovarian cancer is not simply one type of cancer. There are several. Cancer is basically cells that have gone wild in multiplying. For ovarian cancer (I think, am not sure) there will always be a tumor because if the cells are wildly multiplying, they will form a tumor. OVCA is difficult to diagnose because the symptoms are so nebulous and easy for docs to dismiss. I had heartburn (never a problem for 62 years), bloating, tiredness. I looked six months pregnant.
498596 tn?1210700259 her sister (my mothers aunt) died of stomach cancer... and we wonder if that might have had any relationship to ovarian. That being said... I am very interested in this test as I do have an increased risk for breast on my paternal side and now a direct line geneticlly to ovarian cancer. I think the advice given above is a good one. To do the testing with a history or direct line to ovarian cancer...although whatever makes you most comfortable is what you should do. Hope this helps...
1483640 tn?1383389371 An ovarian cyst can also cause the same symptoms. I know because I had the fatigue and bloating, bathroom problems, etc. A couple years ago I had a 10 cm cyst removed. Originally my doctor was going to do a full hysterectomy: I was post menopausal, had the giant ovarian cyst and some uterine fibroids. She figured why not get rid of it all? Instead the surgeon recommended I just have the ovary and cyst removed. Less risk, less trauma to the body and a quicker recovery.
1550253 tn?1359048669 My stomach is constantly crampy and makes sounds, I am either constipated or I have diarrhea (sometimes both within the same day), I am bloated, gassy, I have heartburn and acid reflux as well. My husband has IBS and all of my symptoms seem to point to that right now...but... I also started having strange symptoms at around the same time my stomach issues started. I have pain in my hip/leg joints, as well as pain in my lower back.
Avatar f tn 98% of all ovarian cysts are benign. Most women have several benign ovarian cysts in a life time. Uterine cancer and ovarian are not related which is weird. It is good they are checking. It may all turn out to be benign endometriosis. In the old days if you were past child bearing years they would do a hysterectomy. Now they know how important ovaries are to a woman's over all health and do not take them. Just because they test for cancer does not mean everyone has it.
Avatar f tn my ob dr thinks a possibility it could b cancer said i should have surgery relatively soon.....does anyone knw how fast ovarian cancer spreads? my belly is gettin alot bigger this past month and the lymph nodes..does cancer spread that fast?
