Thanks so much for your response, selma. I didn't think about the vagus nerve being a possibility and I'd never heard of the condition you called "silent reflux." I was just incredibly relieved you didn't immediately say "run to your cardiologst as it might be a heart attack!" That is what I was fearing someone would say.

It was so bad, my ears were on fire, my jaw ached and I was getting hot, sweaty and shaky from the pain, had waves of nausea and really felt like I would vomit... I think it was coz I took fish oil tablets before bed. Was up til 2.30am so finally drank some milk. I think it helped as water wouldn't mix with oil and send it down but milk did. Anyway it was enough to get to sleep but today I'm buying Rennie! Not keen for another night like last night.

I was prescribed 375 mg of Naprosyn for jaw pain/inflammation. I've taken it for two days and have had a painful side effect. Ever since I started taking it, I've had stabbing pain/burning in the sternum area of my chest. Pretty much all day long. I'm assuming its heartburn but I read that that happens with prolonged use. I rarely use over the counter NSAIDs, such as Aleve. Could it be my heart?

Any jaw pain? Left arm pain ? Neck pain? Those are other signs for a heart attack... I know this sounds funny but it sounds like gastritis/indigestion:) He could try to take a prilosec ... or other heartburn indigestion medication :) good luck!

Sometimes there is associated pain to insufficient supply of blood/oxygen to heart cells that is usually chest pain, but sometimes there is shoulder, back and jaw pain. Your age almost rules out any occluded vessels, and if you had a decrease of blood pumped into circulation with a valve disorder, you almost certainly would have other symptoms such as shortness of breath, muscle fatigue, chest pain, etc.

yes this is the same things i had 35 male and when i went to hospital they said i needed a triple bypass and it was done the next day it felt like heartburn for 3 days came and went and then the 3rd day my left arm hurt then my jaw thats when i went and they fixed me up that was nov i feel great now

I have difficulty swallowing, pain in throat, cough, headache, full feeling around jaw and ears. I am 67 years old.

This happened to me once....I had awful awful heartburn to the point it caused my bottom jaw to be extremely sore and shooting pain in.my arm :/.......

Are you having heartburn? I had heartburn to severe that it caused my jaw to hurt on top of my sinus draining.....I'll go get checked out if I were you.

I have like severe heart burn then it moves up into my jaw. It starts under my breasts and moves up. I want to see if I can get some kind of idea what it is. While that is happening It feel like an elephant is sitting on my chest Can some one please help me with this. I have no insurance or money to pay the hospital to go.

It comes and goes in about 5 mins increments and has not stopped for the full two days. It starts like what feels like heartburn and then deepens into a stronger pain and into my lower jaw. Idk what this is or should be worried? Any help is greatly appreciated!!

The submandibular gland pain is felt under the jaw/neck and also can give pain in the jaw bone and ear. An xray called a sialogram can be done where they try and pass a tiny tube through the duct and into the gland, carrying dye which is shown up on the xray. Sometimes they are unable to do this because of the blockage in the tiny duct itself. Pain can also come from the muscles in the neck being tense. Try resting with a warm compress or warm hot water bottle against your neck and face.

chronic sinusitis...and stomach upset for mosr..and chest pain...i was also told thqt my chest pain was related to fibromyalgia...who knows...if i goes away with strict gerds treatemnt i will let u know tucker...did ur chest pain go when u got steady of the reflux meds..i hope so cos that crud hurts!

I woke up with esophageal squeezing felt it inside my chest and radiating to jaw, i thought it's variant angina my doctor says it's from GERD but i don't feel the heartburn with the squeezing, i'm a runner with good health and 21, could it be variant angina?

artery was 100% blocked and has damaged left side of heart.over past week I have noticed alot of throat discomfort and pain can anyone relate to this feeling and could medication cause some of this. any advice would be welcome thanks .

Within an hour the pain was widespread throughout my upper body (chest, esophagus, clavicles, both arms, shoulder blades, upwards into the right side of my neck and jaw). As the bouts continued the intensity also continued and was accompanied by periodic heaving/vomiting (not due to nausea but due to the sever pain spreading into my throat and triggering my gag reflex). Later in the bouts - the central location seemed to settle into the bottom of my throat and extreme upper chest.

I have frequent jaw pain, jaw numness and jaw that crack when I chew on something at some point. I saw a dentist lately and he told me that everithing is normal with my teeth an jaw on the x-ray. I also have pain in my ears due to that! My best guess whould be that it is a Chiari symptome.

If so, then you need thyroid meds or a higher dosage in your current meds. Steps were taken to attempt resolution, and while the jaw pain and dizziness lessened, I started getting headaches more and more often. Taking medication for the heartburn (nexium) started making the headaches worse after a while. Combined with my recurring panic attacks, this escalated to migraines (which run in my family, although these weren't particularly painful most of the time) with auras, the auras being numbness in the face and lips, and sometimes pain running down my arm.
