Avatar n tn Per the doctor, I have to give myself an enema every 3 days (saline works the best) and there are still times when I strain and bleed. I hate it!
Avatar n tn I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for 35 years, but mostly very mild and not very problematic since I was in my 20s. Now, in the past few years, I have g.i. symptoms I hardly ever had before-- heartburn, acid reflux, pain in my small and large intestines, occasional nausea. Diagnostic tests have not revealed a reason for this. But recently I have been wondering--could the g.i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)?
Avatar m tn ve been taking an anti heartburn medication and it seems to have helped a bit but the heartburn more often than not comes back. Is this something I should look in to? Could it be signs of something bigger?
Avatar n tn could be a food allergy? or Irritable bowel syndrome.
Avatar m tn When I eat a lot of hummus (especially black bean hummus) have shapeless stools, gas, heartburn and a LOT of discomfort. And I pooh a lot. If I KEEP eating it, I end up bleeding on the back end because I keep wiping. Track your diet/intake and your bowel movements (shape, amount, color, size, characteristics (ribbon-like, grainy, sandy, spotty, mucousy), frequency). You may find your own correlation.... If you don't, it is as least extremely good documentation to bring to your doctor.
Avatar n tn I am overweight. For the past 18 months I have been plauged with an irritable bowel. I have bowel motions 5-8 times per day. My stools are always loose and often bright yellow. I have cramps and gas and often after passing still have the feeling of needing to go. When I need to go, I NEED TO GO! and there is no way I can wait.
Avatar f tn I have been diagnosed with irritable bowel after suffering with pain and constipation for years. I also suffer badly with wind. I have been taking fybogel mebeverine twice a day and peppermint capsules for the past 4 months.I track my fibre intake, and ensure I have a minimum of 27g per day. I am an adult female, I exercise several times a week and consider my diet to be quite healthy. The pain isn't as frequent but im still constipated most of the time. Does anyone have any advice please?
Avatar f tn I have also tried ALIGN ********* which gave me some relief. I was afraid to eat. My symptoms included heartburn and bloating. I am a runner, I still remember a day when the food in my stomach would not move and I had so much bloating that I went running and ran for more than an hour in frustration in hope that I would get some relief. The second Gastroentrologist said that I might have IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome).
Avatar f tn The symptoms as of now (gas, cramps etc) could be due to inflammatory bowel conditions such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, Celiac disease (gluten intolerance), lactose intolerance or IBS or irritable bowel syndrome. Severe acidity with gastric reflux can also be a cause and so also hiatal hernia. It can also be due to H pylori infection. Since there are red blotches, there are two main possibilities. One is H pylori infection and the other is Crohn’s disease.
Avatar n tn I have had IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) for 35 years, but mostly very mild and not very problematic since I was in my 20s. Now, in the past couple of years, I have g.i. symptoms I hardly ever had before-- heartburn, acid reflux, pain in my small and large intestines, occasional nausea. Diagnostic tests have not revealed a reason for this. But recently I have been wondering--could the g.i. symptoms be a side effect of anastrozole (arimidex)?
Avatar f tn I used to experience abdominal bloating couple of days before my periods but now it is becoming more frequent. My bowel movements are normal and I have no other pain in abdominal or pelvic or other areas of my body. My body functions are normal for most part. (Btw, I am 41, and weigh 110 lbs). I want to know what could be behind this bloating?
Avatar n tn The symptoms can be due to several causes like acidity, GERD or reflux disease or hiatal hernia, irritable bowel, liver and gallbladder problems and even due to gastric paresis. I would strongly recommend you to see a gastroenterologist (a specialist who looks after the diseases of our digestive system). Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes your right about the irritable bowel which I do have..seems to accompany my hearburn too and even when Im constipated and am straining sometimes.. it causes heartburn. I will try the breath test, Im surprised that my doctor never ordered one for me. I dont really have pain in the stomach, but I do always burp and get flatulence. But I know emotional stress and the flu has done this. I only seem to control it IF I really dont do too much physical activity and avoid stress.
Avatar n tn Such kind of pain can be due to infections of the urethra, bladder, or kidneys (urinary tract infections) ,Sexually transmitted infections of the genitourinary tract, pelvic inflammatory disease in females, fibroids, ovarian cysts, ectopic pregnancy or endometriosis in females, interstitial cystitis of the urinary bladder, irritable bowel syndrome or prostatitis in males.
Avatar m tn Hello, The various possibilities for your symptoms are gall stones,GERD(gastroesophageal reflux disease) and irritable bowel syndrome. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a functional bowel disorder characterized by mild to severe abdominal pain, discomfort, bloating and alteration of bowel habits. In some cases, the symptoms are relieved by bowel movements.Diarrhea or constipation may predominate, or they may alternate (classified as IBS-D, IBS-C or IBS-A, respectively).
Avatar f tn it sounds like a gastrointestinal issue especially with the loose stool, pain and heartburn. I would go to a gastroentrologist and have them take tests to know what the diagnosis is. 2 years is a long time to suffer and it may be something that could be easily treated.
Avatar n tn If you are looking for a health professional's opinion, you might try the professional forum. As a lay person I can give you some ideas of what might cause some of this, but you it sounds like you need to see a professional doctor to me. The first symptom one might guess constipation and a need for more fiber, such as daily metamucil, in your diet. Flatulence can come with stress, irritable bowel syndrome, constipation (I believe) and I don't know what all.
Avatar n tn These include high salt intake, too little proteins in diet, food allergies, gallstones,H.pylori infestation, gastritis, irritable bowel syndrome,Crohn’s disease, obstructed bowel, liver disease, distension due to overian cysts and Functional abdominal pain syndrome (FAPS). As you are having constipation and abdominal cramps while passing stools,it is giving the possibility of irritable bowel syndrome an edge.Uterine fibroids don’t cause such symptoms but ovarian cysts can esp if they are big in size.
Avatar m tn Have you ever been told you have irritable bowel syndrome or colitis? I have irritable bowel. Did you have a colonoscopy?
242912 tn?1660619837 My husband carried her out to the back where she did have a bowel movement, but she is back inside and in a stone crouch behind our chair. I'll be calling the vet when they open in a few minutes. I am just posting for support, as I am totally overwhelmed.
Avatar n tn I had *awful* irritable bowel syndrome throughout chemo. Luckily (?), when I also had it during radiation, a nutritionist met with me. She recommended a supplement called "Acidopholis." It's the bacteria in the intestines which we all need to digest food, but chemo and radiation kill it. I used it faithfully and saw a radical improvement in my IBS. No more constipation/diarrhea. Wish I'd been told about it during chemo! (I take one called Multidopholis Plus.
223237 tn?1302188391 Anyone here have a cat with IBS? If so, what has the course of treatment been? My husband's 16 y/o cat has been diagnosed with it and we have been giving prednisone and sulfasalismone, which seems to be becoming less effective. We are also open to alternative medicine tx if it would be helpful.
Avatar m tn But for many years I had suffered from gastro problems which i and to some degree also the docs thought it all comes from the HCV infection, now I see that these problems still remain so i went onto a doc who is speciallist in this area and he told me that eventhough it is not exactlly IBS (Irritable bowel syndrome) I should treat it as it is IBS. Also I would like to add that I have had my GB removed about 8 years ago because of GB stones.
