Heartburn and arm pain

Common Questions and Answers about Heartburn and arm pain

it probably is just heartburn, however, if the light>painlight> is severe light>andlight> you're feeling nauseated, you should go to the ER. It could be an ulcer. A couple months ago I thought I was just having severe heartburn, but it turned out to be 2 duodenal ulcers and it was a good thing I went to the er because they admitted me for 5 days. Better to be safe than sorry. Of course, it could be a heart attack as well, but you're pretty young for that.
I'm currently on Atenolol for the tachycardia. Anyways, this light>heartburnlight> light>painlight> scares me that it's heart related because of the back light>andlight> left light>armlight> pain, though I had all those cardiac tests come back as negative. Is it possible for heartburn to be so severe that I feel it in my back and left arm as well?
On 10/31/07 I experienced a frightening event where, when simply leaving for the morning to go to work, I had a crushing pressure in my mid-chest (crushing like an elephant on my chest - no burning), broke out in a sweat, nauseous, dizzy, pain radiated quickly into my left neck and jaw, pounding light>painlight> in my left armpit light>andlight> down the inner part of my left light>armlight>, severe pounding in both my femoral arteries (in both upper thighs), and was having trouble breathing.
I, too, have seen a number of docs about my chst light>painlight>, left light>armlight> light>painlight> light>andlight> jaw light>painlight> (oh yeah, light>andlight> HORRIBLE light>heartburnlight> that seems to be unrelated to food). All classic symptoms and I am very concerned about it. But, FOUR cardios have found nothing and I have had the full run of tests and then some. My last workup was at the Mayo Clinic and they were VERY thorough! Thank God nothing is wrong with my heart but there is still the chest pain and arm pain both which are pretty bad since yesterday.
I feel several of those symptoms every few days. Particularly the light>painlight>/pressure in my chest light>andlight> left light>armlight> light>andlight> the weakness light>andlight> nausea. Also my hands are extremely sweaty. My family seems to write these symptoms off, saying it can't be a heart attack if it happens so often. My thinking is that these symptoms are a warning that SOMETHING is off that might cause problems. My question is: How long do these symptoms show up before a heart attack? Can they occur for weeks?
Hi I often get a dull pain on the left side of my chest, moving into my arm-pit, radiating into my elbow light>andlight> causing a feeling of weakness in my fore-light>armlight>. Could this just be normal light>heartburnlight> and how does heartburn cause pain in such an awkward place/way? I get nervous when it comes to chest pains, as I have heart-valve problems and had heart-palpitations last night but because I get a miriad of different aches and pains (especially due to costochondritus) I try not to jump to conclusions.
I have been having light>painlight> in my left light>armlight> pit light>andlight> breast light>andlight> in my shoulder blade. It kinda feels like heart burn but, it is only my left side and at night time it burns really bad. I don't see anything nor do I feel any lumps. Do you know what this might be?
I took the Pepto as before, then started thinking maybe heart? light>andlight> I knew if I took aspirin it would help the light>armlight> light>painlight> anyway, so I took two. After awhile I took Tums to stop the heartburn. I felt better after awhile. What could it be? Could it actually be heart-related, or is it just that I'm eating greasy food? Also, I do have a PEG tube I've had since surgery in May. I don't use it anymore, just Flush it out every day.
Now ever since then I have at different times of the day and week this shallow light>painlight> in my chest that radiates down my left light>armlight>, light>andlight> makes it tingle light>andlight> moves to my left shoulder blade and sometimes to the jaw. Along with these symptoms, my blood pressure jumps from a low of 100/50 to 179/95 which is high for me as normally I am at 120/70.
Currently I have had a sore throat (burning sensation as well as sometimes I feel like I have a lump in my throat) for 3 weeks, light>andlight> sharp pains in my neck leading to my ears, light>andlight> on occasion a little light>painlight> in my arm pits. I had an endoscopy of my throat and it showed nothing for esophogitis.
The pain seems to radiate in my light>armlight>, light>andlight> now after a year of this will include the other light>armlight> as well. It comes, peaks, then fades. After the pain is gone I have no feeling of heartburn or upset stomach or anything. It is so extremely painful and unpleasant I don't take a second swallow. I have checked every so often to see if it still happens, since it started out of the blue, I have kind of expected it to go away out of the blue.
I have esophagitis light>andlight> get left side chest light>painlight>, shoulder light>painlight> light>andlight> sometimes back light>andlight> light>armlight> light>painlight>. I have had an echo, EKG, cardiac enzymes, Chest X-ray etc. All they have found is the espohagitis. At least that has been my experience. I, too, never have any heartburn.
I am almost 18 weeks pregnant light>andlight> dealing with daily light>heartburnlight>. I am forgetful light>andlight> often leave tums at home yet I have terrible heartburn by lunch time at work. Any suggestions on trying to control it without meds???
These posts are the only thing that keep me from running to the doctor every time I have a chest/light>armlight> light>painlight>. For the last 7 years I have had on light>andlight> off episodes of chest light>painlight>, light>armlight> light>painlight>, shortness of breath, racing heart, fatigue, etc. After several EKG's over the years, my symptoms too have been diagnosed as anxiety related. I took Lexapro for 9 months which seemed to help tremendously. I went off it in May and now the physical symptoms are creaping up on me again....
I feel your light>painlight>! I had terrible light>heartburnlight>, mostly at night when trying to sleep. When TUMS wasn't enough, my doctor told me that Prilosec was safe. It was expensive but totally worth it!! It's hard enough to get a good nights sleep when you're pregnant but add heartburn to it and...ugh! Double whammy! My doctor also said that if Prilosec didn't work that Nexium was also approved for pregnancy although it is even MORE expensive. I'm glad the Prilosec worked for me.
I have been to the hospital 3 times for chest pain, mostly on the left side, left light>armlight> light>painlight> (sometimes numb, sometimes achey), light>andlight> sharp light>painlight> in my upper back. They ran an EKG, CT scan (they thought i had a blood clot in my lungs), and a chest x-ray. Their results where all basically the same, that it was anxiety or indigestion. Now, I have been on Zoloft for a long time now for anxiety, but when I started having chest pains and numbness in my arm, I began having panic attacks.
I started taking antibiotics last night light>andlight> in the middle of the night I woke up light>andlight> my right light>armlight> was numb from the elbow down through my hand. I had slept with it above my head but not laying on it. After I brought it down and started moving my fingers the blood started flowing again. I just wondered with all these weird symptoms if me blowing them off was the smart thing to do or if I should be worried. I really didn't even know where to begin looking...

If i lay down all day and dont do anything, these episodes dont come often if at all.

Hi, I am a seventeen year old girl and for the past couple of weeks I've been experiencing chest discomfort, light>andlight> a light>painlight> in my left light>armlight> that ranges from dull to sharp. The light>painlight> light>andlight> discomfort also comes and goes. I have also been belching a lot lately (normally, i hardly ever do). The pain and discomfort get worse when I eat. I thought it could have been heartburn, but I don't see how that would explain the pain in my arm. As of yesterday, i also discovered that i had a pain in my left armpit.
Got up took Tylenol, drank water, pain subsided but was left with a dull light>painlight> in right light>armlight> that has cleared up as of now. Only 6 wks pregnant light>andlight> read these pains could possibly be signs of an ectopic pregnancy. How likely is this? It is my second pregnancy, and I have no history of miscarriages.

The docs said my neck was causing all of this, but it wasn't. Any help appreciated.
I have new symptoms with my chest pain. I have light>painlight> in my left light>armlight> light>andlight> shoulder with numbness, light>andlight> light>painlight> in my right light>armlight>. The chest light>painlight> is still the same. I have pain in my jaw, back, neck, and upper ribs. I also get tingling in my fingers on my right hand. I don't know if these are signs of a heart attack or the symptoms of what my doctor still thinks is Costochondritis?
I have really bad stress and anxiety and and I have been coping with the anxiety with Zoloft light>andlight> it's been pretty good, but this morning I woke up light>andlight> my light>armlight> had a tickly feeling like I cut off the circulation in it. Then my shoulder suddenly felt cold internally (but not to the touch)and all of the sudden my whole right arm, neck face and right side of my chest began to burn like hotsauce was in my blood. My temperature was normal but I was super uncomfortable.
