Avatar n tn I was on prozac for a couple years and I never had any problems with weight gain...there's always a risk for that side effect with antidepressants so it just depends on how your body responds...if you're unhappy with how the prozac works just talk to your doctor and ask about alternate meds...
Avatar n tn Breathlessness on exertion could be due to the decreased lung function. Again in cardiac disorders the heart is unable to pump the blood adequately, more so when subjected to stress like exercise. The chest pain could also be due to decreased oxygenation. Certain systemic disorders like anemia, diabetes, vitamin deficiencies and thyroid disorders can cause these symptoms.
Avatar f tn Bulimia does cause cardia arrest - sudden death. Eating disorders can be linked to heart problems. The important things are that you are not purging and you are under a cardiologist care.

Mental illness is a very hard thing to deal with, and even though you know you are causing yourself harm, you don't know how to stop it. Please try and get yourself some help for your eating disorder, if not for you, then for your husband and kids. Good luck with everything.

Avatar f tn Unfortunately something went horribly wrong and he could not swallow food afterwards! So a feeding tube was used and then removed after three long years. He can eat but very very slowly cause he chokes soooo severly on everything! He can only swallow with his head tilted to the right also. His appetite still has never returned, so wanting to eat is almost gone! Is there anything that can help with this?
Avatar f tn If you have extreme hunger and are overeating during the day as well, and are concerned about your weight perhaps I would consider an eating disorder, but it sounds more medical or nutritional to me.
4259230 tn?1352142289 ve been waking from a dead sleep to fingers that were tingly painful and my chest/heart would feel funny at times and I'd feel like I couldn't breath. but it wasn't anxiety). I can't afford allergy testing or a dietitian because I already have 8 yrs of dr bills...
Avatar f tn Eating disorders can have many bad effects on the heart, including sudden cardiac death, heart failure and heart rhythm problems. You need to fess up to your doctor or cardiologist about your eating disorder and get checked out. A banana is not going to do it. Most importantly, get treatment for your eating disorder before something bad happens. I know, I was there. I was 17, 5'9" tall and weighed 96lbs.

Avatar n tn Hi, I struggled with bulimia for roughly 10 years of my life (age 12-23ish). I stopped instantly at age 23 because I somehow go scared that I was going to kill myself. I never had any symptoms of health problems, during or after the bulimia. But just last year, at age 28, I started having an irregular heart beat. It came on very suddenly, and I started feeling palpitations in my chest every day. It's been about a year and they are still going.
Avatar n tn T3, T4 and TSH and if everything is normal and you do not have any endocrine disorders then you have to consider regular cardio along with following a strict diet plan. Consider 60 minutes of running, jogging, cycling, swimming everyday for a period of 3-6 months and you will see the change. Take care!
Avatar f tn I bought the "clean and lean" books which I stuck to rigorously for a week to kick start my palet, this got rid of all the sugar etc etc only for a week (they give a two week plan but screw that ha!) but afterwards I started making his recipes which are low bad fat, low calorie etc and taste epic! Honestly now I try and eat pizza etc and it just doesn't taste as good! I think they could help you because it focuses you to think about things differently and the food is amazing!
Avatar f tn Just eat something for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Eating fruits and vegetables are health and they are low in calories so you can eat a lot without feeling very guilty. Avatar n tn Regarding her episodes of vomiting and abdominal pain, these are also common in patients with psychogenic disorders, however I think it is important and a priority to make sure there is no underlying condition producing these symptoms, before being able to blame them on psychiatric problems. There are metabolic syndromes in children presenting with nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
1460302 tn?1285764782 I had an ischemic heart attack several years ago, and tests showed hypokinesis (heart wall movement impairment) and at one time it would be assumed the heart cells were dead...in fact at the time that seemed to be the prevailing wisdom. However, with medication and a stent the blood supply was increased to the deficit area. The heart cells were revitalized and returned to normal functionality...that would be reversable ischemia.
Avatar m tn t get enough and will also make you feel dizzy. Your heart is beating quickly to circulate the blood round your body and the reason for this is that there may not be enough red corpuscles to carry the oxygen round your body. A blood test would confirm whether your are anaemic or not and a course of iron tablets would be prescribed if required. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn She has seen and currently seeing a cardiologist for her heart and is on medication, she never had heart problems like this prior and it seems like the heart rate is tied in with the pain and bowel movement. After every bowel movement she becomes hungry and she has about 9-10 bowel movements a day or more and looses 4-5 pounds a day.
