Avatar n tn How do you find out the number of heart operations or procedures your doctor has performed and his/her success rate?
Avatar m tn 3) There is allot of info out there pro and against GERD operations. Some say 90% success rate, others say that is only for a couple of years, some reports say that after a couple of years a considerable amount get GERD back. What you take on this?
881091 tn?1242724466 Doctors say he will have to undergo an angioplasty and 3 stents will be required. i want to know what is an angioplasty and what is the success rate of this procedure? i found some cases on the internet in which stents have collapsed. is this possible??? is there any other method in which the blockage can be dissolved? if angiography has to be done which type of stent is to be used and why??
Avatar n tn Perhaps the success rate is forty percent in little village in outer Mongola seventy miles from the nearest road, but in modern hospitals these operations, called laminectomies are generally successful. There are diffferent degrees of damage. The problem is they often to not last and the problem comes back. Not having seen your MRI or x-rays I can only speculate. You need to have better communication with your health care provider.
Avatar n tn I had a triple bypass on Nov. 16 of last year, my resting heart rate has been between 100 - 111 before I start my cardiac rehab. Is this dangerously high ?
Avatar m tn nPEP success rate is 86% apx.
1124887 tn?1313754891 They really helped, the skipped beats (PACs, actually) that happened with high heart rate disappeared, the panic attacks disappeared and my heart rate got more normal during activity. After some months with regular walking I decided to start heavier exercise (jogging, running, weightlifting). At first, it was really scary. I decided to see a cardiologist just to rule out any heart failure that could suddenly have occured (lol).
Avatar m tn I've had SVT ablation operations about 10 years ago with the symptoms of racing heart which was a great success. but the last 2 years I've felt dizzy/foggy and a sore neck, which last for a couple of days sometime more, then nothing for a month, then returns. Could it be SVT again with different symptoms.
Avatar n tn At 41 he had his first heart attack, followed by 3 heart by pass operations which varied in their success. At aged 58 he had his second heart attack. No more surgery followed but he has been required to undergo a number of angioplastis and has had one or two stents fitted. Last year his condition worsened and he was in hospital for a month whilst they tried to stabilise his erratic heartbeat with drugs.
Avatar n tn ve been trying to research ablation procedures online, but keep coming up with very different things than what he explained...things like open-heart operations, ones involving incisions in your side, and complete AV node ablations (which my doc ensured me was not what he was talking about). So, if anyone has had this procedure before, i was hoping you could let me know your experiences, and if it ended up helping or not. Thanks!
Avatar n tn content_id=274 Kidney transplantation is still one of the most successful transplantation operations. Kidney transplants have a success rate between 80 percent and 97 percent.Take care and keep us posted.
Avatar m tn Thank you for your question. I can give you some insight into retrograde angioplasty. The usual procedure is to use a guide wire through the occlusion, and apparently that procedure is not an option given the circumstance. As of a recent report retrograde angioplasty can be an option. For some insight: The retrograde approach for total occlusion (chronic) is a relatively new treatment strategy with its attendant complications having not yet been fully appreciated and described.
Avatar n tn Hi i understand that not all operations are a success..but the operations that he had were q success...my frustration is in the last 4 month we have never been made aware that the sight could be lost! The surgeon keeps tellin us 'give it time' where as the specialist we seen at another hospital advised us that there is nothing more that they can do for his eye! I am not trying to put the blame onto anyone...
Avatar m tn How long would a Jones tube need to be in place for and what is its success rate? How bad is tearing with the Jones tube in place? Would this change the structure of the face at all/leave permanent scars?
660872 tn?1238641245 > 2) is the mortality/failure rate any higher the older you are? well, age is always a factor. But if he's fit, and has no comorbidities, then he'd do better than the average for his age. Have you heard about percutaneous valve operations? That's where they go in through an artery, as in an angioplasty or stent placement. It's new but you can ask, you never know if it might be available where you are... if it even might apply in your dad's case.
8835615 tn?1410091411 What is your baby's heart rate and gender?
1303001 tn?1272992360 Sometimes Doctors refer artificial hearts as being ventricle assist devices which are put inside the chambers of the heart to assist the pumping. The good thing with this is that you keep the original heart and the heart rate can still change, which I don't believe a mechanical heart can. Mechanical hearts have been used to keep a patient alive until a donor is hopefully found. I know there has been a lot of research in artificial hearts in the US and Japan, using animal tissue.
Avatar f tn Hello, I orginally asked a question regarding my 80 year old father requiring a 3rd aortic valve surgery. I believe the doctor who answered my query thought I was talking about a CABG re-op, and therefore want to ask the question again as I am not certain his/her answer was relevant to my father's situation.
Avatar n tn Within 6 months normal tissue grows over the construction. The success rate is 90% and within several days there will be evidence of success.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry to hear about your heart issues. The success rate for ablation varies. . I had an ablation in November for frequent PVC's that were beginning to lower my ejection fraction. I was given about a 95% success rate. The procedure was supposed to take 2-3 hours, but they had a very hard time finding the area that my PVC's were originating from, so it took a bit longer than expected.
