1187301 tn?1264772920 Extremely thankful for your valuable advise on my case.
Avatar m tn Because i have had a few operations before, does that greatly increase my risk this time (due to scar tissue around the heart)? I live in Australia and my specialist here gave me the talk of it being a high risk operation, etc. but he is only very young and actually quite slack (When he gave me that talk, I was supposed to be seeing him so he could let me know a date for my operation...
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
Avatar m tn HI, I would think in this great time we live in that an operation could be developed to take care of a DRY EJACULATION, does not seem like a serious health problem but to men it is and to the mans partner. I was told it might happen but not how the feelings would be and how incomplete sex is with my partner, means a lot to me and I bet a lot of other men feel the same.I would love to know if maybe there is some types of experimental operations going on in the world to help.
Avatar m tn My father is 60 years old and had a heart attack last week. When diagnosed he had 80% blockage in one artery and a minor block in other artery. His Coloestrol, sugar and BP is perfect. Doc though is suggesting a bypass, can anybody suggest that is it the last remedy or we can have some scope through medicines?
Avatar f tn my sister in law is in hospice with only 10 percent of her heart working they told her they wont consider a heart transplant because of her age and diabetes. should we seek a second opinion>? she is 65. her diabetes is under control, so i dont understand, her other systems are working fine from what the drs say. would cleveland clinic or has cleveland clinic done heart transplants on patients this old with diabetes? please help. we dont want to lose her. thank you.
1303001 tn?1272992360 Sometimes Doctors refer artificial hearts as being ventricle assist devices which are put inside the chambers of the heart to assist the pumping. The good thing with this is that you keep the original heart and the heart rate can still change, which I don't believe a mechanical heart can. Mechanical hearts have been used to keep a patient alive until a donor is hopefully found. I know there has been a lot of research in artificial hearts in the US and Japan, using animal tissue.

Avatar n tn Hi I have a coronary calcium score of 577 and my heart arteries are serverly calcified. Are open heart operations (bypasses) with good prognosis with type 1 diabetics? I have been on insulin for 32 years since I was 17.
Avatar m tn Im 18yrs old and I had an operation to correct a sub aortic stinosis which didnt work at theage of 2 and a half, and around the time of me 12 birthday, i had thae ross precedure done, and obviously, im still alive, fingers crossed all will be ok with you, im going to have a lot more operations on my heart so im sure you, or whoever it is having their second op will be ok.
Avatar n tn I actually have great admiration for your husband for putting up with so many operations. Many heart disease patients have a natural feeling that they only have a short time to live but many go on to live long healthy lives. It is psychologically hard on a person due to the constant symptoms such as tiredness etc, many of which are due to medications to prevent the heart from over working. It is not possible to put a time on someones life with heart disease.
Avatar n tn How do you find out the number of heart operations or procedures your doctor has performed and his/her success rate?
Avatar m tn It sounds like congestive heart failure (CHF) which means her heart is not working sufficiently to supply the bodys needs. Causes can be disease to heart muscle, causing it to stiffen or weaken, or diseases which cause body tissue to increase oxygen demand to a level where the heart cannot cope. I believe it can also be a result of many years of high blood pressure. CHF can go on to affect other organs in the body because the heart cannot meet their demands for oxygen.
Avatar m tn Re-operations are generally thought to be higher-risk than first-time operations, but some of the top centers (on the order of Mayo, Cleveland Clinic, Texas Heart, Mass General, etc.) are showing re-op mortality and morbidity stats that are very similar to first-time stats. The skill of the surgeon plays a huge, huge role. Your daughter needs an expert surgeon. In my opinion, she should try to go to a major heart center for this operation, even if she has to travel.
Avatar f tn I have a seventeen year old son that has had several operations for shunt replacements in 2009. He was diagnosed with Hydrochapulus and a Cysts in the "Small Brain" area. The cysts is very large which covers nearly the entire bottom part of the brain at the back. We have just had a CT scan done and they mentioned hypodensity in the Medulla area. My son's behaviour has become very erratic, he is very depressed, and he is suicidal as he does not want to live.
535822 tn?1443976780 Hmmm....if given the choice, I'd like to live longer, simply because I'd love to see my children's babies grow up and have babies of their own. I just want to be there for them, and be part of their lives for as long as I can. I don't think 70-100 years is enough to do all the things we'd like to do. And out of all the things that would make me want to live longer, I believe my family would be the number one reason.
Avatar m tn I am wondering whether to try surgery again with all the misery and difficulty or try to live with it with a truss..The surgeon insists that this has not happened in 500 such operations and that additional surgery will require considerably more work and methods due to all the mesh involved. I am very active and need input...Please offer suggestions....
Avatar n tn MANY MANY PEOPLE HAVE A LEAKING HEART VALVE. EVEN VERY YOUNG PEOPLE. IT IS OFTEN CALLED A HEART MURMUR. SOMETIMES PEOPLE MAY NEED A NEW VALVE REPLACED WITH SURGERY, AND EVEN IF YOUR MOM'S VALVE WAS LEAKING THAT BADLY, THESE OPERATIONS ARE DONE OFTEN AND ARE VERY SUCCESSFUL.
291222 tn?1210048328 Non-ischemic cardiomyopathy usually associated with heart muscle disease. There are operations to reduce heart wall size!. There could pericarditis that results in restrictive cardiomyopathy, etc. To answer your question more fully requires info of the underlying cause.
595144 tn?1219229276 I had a heart attack two months ago with two stents being necessary. At the time it was found that a heart mumur indicated minor regurgitation due to a biscuspid valve. Further tests showed a dilated ascending aorta measuring 49mm. On seeing a heart surgeon today he suggested just watching the dilation and checking each 6 months. He seemed inclined not to use a metal valve and wanted to delay the inevitable operation.
Avatar m tn I've had SVT ablation operations about 10 years ago with the symptoms of racing heart which was a great success. but the last 2 years I've felt dizzy/foggy and a sore neck, which last for a couple of days sometime more, then nothing for a month, then returns. Could it be SVT again with different symptoms.
