Avatar f tn Her eye is currently full of blood (not in the white part) and she cannot see anything with this eye. The eye specialist has now offered her an operation (she doesnt know the name) where gas is put into her eye and the blood removed, then the source of the bleeding sealed up. However, he told her that although 95% chance it wont happen again, he said there is 100% chance that a catarract will form at some point.
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar f tn I just had a hysterectomy the dr. originally told me I had a 7cm cyst in my left ovary When the operation was over he said it was a benign adenocarinoma tumor weighing 6 oz. Isn't adenocarcinoma cancer? could it have been precancerous and was about to turn. My husband heard the same thing .
Avatar f tn Was checking heart beat whilst relaxing heart was beating about 60 to the minute then it went very quick for about 10 seconds then went back to normal, any ideas would be appreciated.
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar n tn The left ventricle could also enlarge if the blood supply into circulation is decreased due to blood back flowing into the upper chamber with each heartbeat and this decrease of blood volume pumped into circulation with each heartbeat can stress the heart with the additional work to meet the blood/oxygen demand. That would be the worst case scenario. Thank you for the question, and if you have any further questions or comments you are welcome to respond.
Avatar n tn good luck and i sincerely hope it works out well for you and you can put your heart situation and your issues behind you...i know it is very difficult.....

Avatar n tn I'm 7months pregnant and i just found out that my babies heart is on the opposite side of her body. All her organs are transverse too. Can she live a normal life with a transverse heart or will there be problems.
Avatar f tn My heart beat can go from 65 to 125 just standing up and then back down and up again all day long for over a week why is this happening?
Avatar n tn There is a mixed view on when to do a valve operation. The Mayo Clinic's renown heart surgery states publically that the biggest problem he see is that the patient waited too long. Waiting too long can require an operation when the left ventricle is enlarged and that condition would reduce the EF, and an operation subsequently the EF may never return to normal function.
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
Avatar m tn t exclude an iondividual from an operation. If that were the criterion as a basis for an operation, then heart surgery, etc. would be contraindicated. The doctor may have other reasons concomitant to a heart issue...you should ask! The best method for determining the best hospitals and medical is from a health professional in your country. You could contact the Cleveland Clinic by email for more information and may be they could help you.
Avatar m tn If the blockages in the circumflex get worse, then blood will be less available for both the right side of the heart and the left side/rear. I would look into the possibilities of having the blockage in the right artery opened using stents also. If the muscle near the left apex is viable, then I would probably be looking to bypass.A nuclear scan would be very valuable here.
Avatar n tn The general rule of thumb is to surgically repair, or replace, the faulty valve when the patient is symptomatic or shows signs of declining cardiac funtion. That said, it's just a general guideline and each patient should be evaluated by their own physicians. Have you seen your cardiologist recently? What is his/her recommendation? Any chance you could go to Cleveland Clinic or Mayo?

Avatar m tn Hi Dr. Please I have a friend who has a heart issue. Occasionally her heart suddenly begin to beat fast. This happens within a time frame of about two minutes. During this two minutes, she says her heart beat faster than normal, stops intermittently and beat faster again. The heart beat fast for like 10seconds and becomes lighter, and beat faster again. The heart eventually resume to normal after like two minutes. Please this does happen at least once every month. Any suggestions.
Avatar n tn In my understanding after operation he can consider about one year as a healing time. I did not have operation, but was recovering from my heart failure. 1 YEAR I needed to feel well and no pain or very occasional pain. He must be sure NOT lifting heavy things. When I had lift or was letting stress in my life, all turned out of some sort of pain. Those are the 2 mayor things he should watch for. Change all stress for love,(easier to say, but must try :)) and …do the heavy lifting for him!!
