Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar n tn My husband's 9 month old stent is blocked vja heart cath on 1/23/2009. No mention was made to clear the stent; I was in the shock mode and didn't ask many questions. His heart cath "pictures" are being sent to another heart specialist in another town. Our heart doctor didn't think anything could be done. I'm not ready to quit. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Avatar n tn My mother had a mitral valve replacement , on the operation table half way through the op the cannular in the right groin had dislodged .. the surgeon attempted to recannulate into the same vien with no success. His explanation was that he thought the fixation of the arterial line was adequate with the line sutured to the skin. I know that this is a known complication but very rare , in saying this my mum suffered hypoxia . The down time was 13-15min.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar m tn A catheter is placed in a vein in the leg and advanced into the heart. The pressures can be measured and pictures can be taken of the heart. Then, a special catheter with a balloon on the end of it is placed across the valve. The balloon is inflated and the valve is opened, with relief of the obstruction. The balloon is then deflated and the catheter is then removed. This is commonly done at this age, and even younger.
Avatar m tn Is there any way to possible subdue my lacrimal gland to produce less tears? How do people cure hyperlacrimatation? I can't find any good pictures of patients with the Jones tube in place, to see how visible it is, I don't know if this is a good or a bad thing.
Avatar f tn Sorry for beng so uninformative about it because I only saw the ultrasound pictures which are not clear and real pictures after all.
Avatar n tn good luck and i sincerely hope it works out well for you and you can put your heart situation and your issues behind you...i know it is very difficult.....
Avatar m tn After the first 3, my eye would always recover properly. The last operation which was done December 5th 2008, went well according to my doctor. I went to Africa for a little over a month to travel with family in January. I did everything the doctor told me, putting my eye drops in and not touching the eye as it healed. Now it's June, and for the past 3 months the upper eyelid on the affected eye has been swollen.
Avatar n tn my father having hernia problem, he had heart blockages too 90,99,90% we come to know in an geography, we don't want to do bypass sugary but want to do hernia operation whether it is suitable for him???
Avatar n tn There is a mixed view on when to do a valve operation. The Mayo Clinic's renown heart surgery states publically that the biggest problem he see is that the patient waited too long. Waiting too long can require an operation when the left ventricle is enlarged and that condition would reduce the EF, and an operation subsequently the EF may never return to normal function.
Avatar m tn With children there is usually two operations, the second operation to account for the growth factor of a child.
Avatar m tn t exclude an iondividual from an operation. If that were the criterion as a basis for an operation, then heart surgery, etc. would be contraindicated. The doctor may have other reasons concomitant to a heart issue...you should ask! The best method for determining the best hospitals and medical is from a health professional in your country. You could contact the Cleveland Clinic by email for more information and may be they could help you.
Avatar m tn If the blockages in the circumflex get worse, then blood will be less available for both the right side of the heart and the left side/rear. I would look into the possibilities of having the blockage in the right artery opened using stents also. If the muscle near the left apex is viable, then I would probably be looking to bypass.A nuclear scan would be very valuable here.
Avatar n tn The general rule of thumb is to surgically repair, or replace, the faulty valve when the patient is symptomatic or shows signs of declining cardiac funtion. That said, it's just a general guideline and each patient should be evaluated by their own physicians. Have you seen your cardiologist recently? What is his/her recommendation? Any chance you could go to Cleveland Clinic or Mayo?

Avatar n tn In my understanding after operation he can consider about one year as a healing time. I did not have operation, but was recovering from my heart failure. 1 YEAR I needed to feel well and no pain or very occasional pain. He must be sure NOT lifting heavy things. When I had lift or was letting stress in my life, all turned out of some sort of pain. Those are the 2 mayor things he should watch for. Change all stress for love,(easier to say, but must try :)) and …do the heavy lifting for him!!
