Common Questions and Answers about Heart operation medical

operation

Avatar n tn They could have done open heart surgery, bypass and fixed the valves in one operation. Was she short of breath before this all happened? When heart valves are bad, a person becomes short of breath. Climbing stairs is hard, energy level drops, easily tired. Chest pains are usually caused by plugged arteries. It does happened when the artery tears during a stent placement. Sometimes the artery is weak.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar m tn t exclude an iondividual from an operation. If that were the criterion as a basis for an operation, then heart surgery, etc. would be contraindicated. The doctor may have other reasons concomitant to a heart issue...you should ask! The best method for determining the best hospitals and medical is from a health professional in your country. You could contact the Cleveland Clinic by email for more information and may be they could help you.
Avatar n tn My teenage friend had recently been diagnosed with Wolff Parkinson White Syndrome. He has to have an operation to help fix this problem. What will be done during the operation? What are the risks of having this operation? How will he be affected by the operation, positive and negative?
Avatar m tn at first everything is normal, i watch carefully the surgery without feel sick or scare with blood and also the operation, after about 45 minutes while i keep my eye on anestheslogist injecting something to the iv fluid i started to feel lightheadedness and drowsiness with NO nausea and uncomfortable in heart. i decided to step out from the operation room and when im consious after 1-2 min i already lying on the bed.
Avatar m tn The morning of the operation, while being administered IV injections, she was informed by a nurse that her doctor was going to switch from the normal (?) mesh to a porcine mesh. Approx. Sep/Oct 2010 timeframe, my wife started having pain and complications. First, pain around the buttocks; later, pelvic area; have tried intercourse only once (too painful); hip/leg pains; unable to sit in one position after only a few minutes; feeling of not emptying the bladder completely; etc. Approx.
Avatar f tn It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn My daughter was diagnosed with congenital heart disease. She had an unroofed coronary sinus, AVSD with malaligned VSD, PDA, atrioventricular valve and PA banding. She's 9months old and weighs only 4.5 kg. What will be her chance if she'll undergo an operation now? Is this a rare type of congenital heart disease? What is the mortality rate for these cases? Thanks for your whatever information you can give me.
Avatar n tn i have pain in my chest near my heart frequently.this has been going on for a year now.i have had an operation for appendix.sometime ago i also spit bood.i cannot run more than 600m.i usually have a pain in the left side but the day i spit blood i had a severe pain in my right side.i have not yet got i checked.pls tell me what it is?
Avatar n tn Often the post surgery recovery is based on the medical condition prior to the CABG. If the heart was pumping less than normal and if the left ventricle was enlarged, the heart may be weaker than normal dispite the bypass of the occluded vessels that now provides a better blood flow to the prevously blood deficient areas of the heart.
Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar m tn If the blockages in the circumflex get worse, then blood will be less available for both the right side of the heart and the left side/rear. I would look into the possibilities of having the blockage in the right artery opened using stents also. If the muscle near the left apex is viable, then I would probably be looking to bypass.A nuclear scan would be very valuable here.
5284406 tn?1365979657 I would think that stents would be part of the procedure. When I had my stones removed, a stents was placed from my right kidney to my bladder. I had a stone blocking the ureter and the ureter needed time to heal. I hope this helps.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar m tn My father had TURP operation one and half month back. After 4 days of operation leaking problem occurred. He was saying that he don't have any kind of sense while urine comes out. After that we consulted the same doctor, he was saying that you have to wait for another 6 months for control. I am helpless. Later we have moved another doctor there he said, some nerve(something i don't know which controls the urine) has damaged at the time of operation.
329165 tn?1515471990 s stomach must be empty a certain amount of time before the operation as this is important for safety for any operation. The surgeon conducting the operation would be able to detail specifics. With surgical procedures I know in the U.S. you can meetwith the surgeon beforehand and the anesthesiologist. They prepare you for the procedure. They can speak with your general physician and if needed your psychiatrist as well with release forms.
Avatar f tn I received 5 bypasses (artery grafts). My heart pump function was about 34% before the operation and currently is about 37-40%. However, I am experiencing problems with my heartbeat, especially at the time of getting into a horizontal position on my back, e.g. when trying to get a sleep at night or getting a nap during the day. Indeed, I feel strange pulsations in the chest I have also been experiencing extra systoles since the first days after surgery.
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
Avatar m tn My 38 year old sister had two stints put in her heart less than a month ago and now having severe gallbladder attacks and is in pain and not able to eat. The doctors have told her they can not operate on her gallbladder until the stints have had time to mature. She has been to the er 4 times in pain since the stints where put in. She is right this minute in the hospital with a partial ileum bowel obstruction. They put in an NG tube on low suction.
