Avatar m tn t exclude an iondividual from an operation. If that were the criterion as a basis for an operation, then heart surgery, etc. would be contraindicated. The doctor may have other reasons concomitant to a heart issue...you should ask! The best method for determining the best hospitals and medical is from a health professional in your country. You could contact the Cleveland Clinic by email for more information and may be they could help you.
Avatar f tn my father died in 1976 at age 34, he was in very good health, not over weight or any other problems that i know of. he did have pneumonia twice within a few months of his death. he was very sick 3 days before he died and had beed to 3 different hospitals and they all sent him home. on his autopsy report it said that he died of myocardio infarction. after all these years i still can't believe this. how could a healthy young man die of a heart attack.
Avatar f tn Floating aroung the board and this thread caught my attention... I had no idea what was happening, I was still flying high on morphine and just said "yes" to what ever was asked of me. It was well after the fact that I found out I was put on a machine and by then it didn't bother me. Since heart surgery is so overly common, I wouldn't worry about it.
367994 tn?1304953593 This can cause your heart to work harder to pump blood eventually causing heart failure — a chronic condition in which your heart is unable to pump enough blood to meet your body's needs. If the infection progresses untreated, it's usually fatal. The usual protocol are high doses of intravenous antibiotics in the hospital. Blood tests may help identify the type of microorganism that's infecting your heart.
Avatar m tn My dad had surgery yesterday for aortic valve replacement and 1 coronary artery bypass. Surgery lasted between 5 and six hours and afterwards NO ONE came out to speak with the family. By phone we were told the procedure was over and the surgeon was on his way but he never showed up in the waiting room. After one hour we tracked my dad down in the ICU, and were told the surgeon left the hospital and a resident would fill us in with details.
Avatar f tn I asked about the AWFUL breathlessness which is much worse on walking and was told that as I had been in a bad way before operation my heart muscle had become weak, but he said he hoped that it would get stronger in up to 6 months time. Avatar f tn Although SVT is generally not life-threatening in an otherwise normal heart, symptoms from the racing heart may feel quite uncomfortable. These arrhythmias are common in young people.
Avatar f tn Many individuals following open heart surgery have a memory problem for about 6 months post operation. Open heart surgery puts the individual on heart and lung machine so the fibrosis is probably not an issue during the operation. The main problem with the heart is the valve orifice and that can be corrected without open heart surgery (sometimes). The aorta regurgitation can be the cause of shortness of breath as well as the pulmonary issue. What is the operation expectation.
Avatar n tn I was informed 4 years ago that my lab nissan operation has fail and I have a tear in my stomach...I was told it is dangerous to do this operation again. Since then I have lost insurance and eat a small amount and feel full and very uncomforable. At times I get servere pain and reflux and it causes my throat to close up and I have a hard time breathing. I have no money or insurance and my mother died of stomach cancer and i am very worried. Is the full feeling and pain a warning sign?
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been in hospitals on numerous occasions where the problems dealth with my genitals or that regeon. I have had numerous cystoscopies as well as a left orchiectomy, hernia repair and recently intestinal blockage which is still under infestigation. First of doctors and nursing staff will do anything possible to preserve a person's dignity. During my last hosptial stay, I for the very first time in my life haf to use the dreaded bed pan.
Avatar f tn I've had heart palpitations for 10 months, they started right after a hiatus hernia operation. I get them everyday. I get them at different times, while watching tv or just relaxing in bed, doing normal everyday things. I had blood work done and was told I was low on B12 and was told to take 1000 mcg of a supplement daily. While taking it the palpitations got stronger so I stopped taking it and they eased up.
Avatar n tn Often the larger university hospitals, cancer hospitals and state hospitals have charity programs. She should start there. There are mercy flights to get to places - she can get a LOT of help and low or no cost.
Avatar f tn Hospitals are of course needed but what's of concern to me is that they are closing many due to budget constraints so the quality of care will diminish due to this factor alone. As for many people who are elderly or people with disabilities they could live in the community and not have to live in a nursing home. At least that specific proposal became part of the health care reform law and that one regulation (taken alone) actually saves money and keeps people safe.
Avatar n tn He was subsequently diagnosed with colonised MRSA after having a nasal swob. Firstly he was told that the operation would still be carried out with antibiotic cover then his surgeon said that it would be too risky to operate as if the MRSA got in to his bloodstream he would be very poorly. He is currently in Hospital in isolation, using nasal antibiotics and daily medicated showers. Nursing staff and visitors are gowning up and wearing gloves.
Avatar m tn If India has a problem with illegal operations, obviously all bets are off for everything, but you seem to be saying illegal operations are being performed in hospitals and by nurses, who have no training in performing an operation so why is that a concern?
Avatar m tn Having a past detachment increases your risk greatly of having another one in either eye. Intraocular surgery like cataract surgery also increases your risk in that eye. Have a "heart to heart" with your surgeon about the risks. If you need the cataract op to see, do it. I have done many such cases and have rarely had a problem. Also, have the retina checked. If there are any suspicious areas which may result in a hole, you might have them lasered in advance of the surgery.
9263335 tn?1403463032 So me & my husband are at the hospital with my 3 yr old brother & it breaks my heart to see him in so much pain. He's been in & out of the hospital since May 13 & my mom only told me 2 weeks ago that he had been hospitalized. I'm praying that he gets better because they keep saying it's Leukemia & then it's not & it's frustrating that they don't know 100%.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately once a mitral valve replacement is placed and causes a secondary left ventricular outflow tract obstruction, there are no good options. Complex heart surgery to enlarge the left ventricular outflow tract called a Konno operation may be indicated. This is a high risk surgery given all the childs issues. It sounds like the amount of blockage is severe and merits some discussion as to the what might help, but there are no guarantees at all that this can be fixed adequately.
Avatar n tn I do not know what the policies are at different hospitals in different countries, but it seems unlikely that anyone other than doctors and nurses are in the recovery area with patients. The recovery area is where the medical professionals watch and wait for you to awaken, then when they are confident you are coming out of anesthesia properly, they take you to your room. After that you can be visited by friends and family. Trust me, you will not be alone in recovery.
