Avatar n tn Today our beloved Golden Retriever died suddenly, and without warning. He was 4 years old, and in seemingly perfect health. My mother was in the yard where he was running and playing happily. She turned her back on him for no more than a minute. When she turned around and approached him, he was lying on the ground without life. There were no external indications of trauma or struggle. We are very saddened by this loss, and even more so by the seemingly random nature of what happened.
Avatar n tn My heart goes out to you and your family.I too just lost my Golden Retriever but under different circumstances.I loved my little Bailie so much-we had such a bond.Think of the fond memories you had together and that she did not suffer very long.I know words mean little but find comfort in knowing others care and share your pain.
Avatar m tn I had a beloved Golden Retriever that turned 13 February 2nd and passed away early February.Up until this past New Years weekend she appeared in great health and had a complete physical in April 2008 and another one in early November 2008 with very good results.New Years weekend was great weather for walking so we both eagarly walked quite a bit,a little more than usual but my little girl was eager to walk and sniff,as Goldens do.
5915818 tn?1377748240 A long haired golden retriever mix has adopted me and my family. At first i believed it was just a dog from the neighborhood just hanging around since my female dog was in heat but after about a week of him being camped out in the yard i started inspecting him further. His K9 teeth are flat, he has hidden mats and his collar was close to being in bedded into his neck. He listens well and is extremely good with other animals and kids.
Avatar n tn I am so sorry about your news and I feel your pain & confusion. I have a beautiful high energy healthy & happy 11 year old golden retriever who's biopsy came back today as a fibrosracoma also. She developed a lump on her upper jaw and under her muzzle that grew pretty fast so a biopsy was in order.
Avatar m tn my 14yr old golden/husky mix was getting older.. little arthritic but in good shape.. She had been playing around all day .. ate very well and did her normal business... she was happy to see me when I got home that evening and did everything she always does... When I woke in the morning she was gone.... I am heartbroken... it must have been sudden as she was still curled up like she always sleeps and her eyes were slightly open... I've been groping for answers of some sort...
Avatar m tn I have a 5 year old golden retriever. 3 days ago she dropped to the ground and couldnt move, and was whining in pain. we took her to the vet and she said she sprained her ankle. its been 3 days and my dog has been in the same position and she cant move. she goes to the bathroom on herself bc of the lack of mobility. she doesnt whine anymore but she doesnt eat. we are feeding her baby food. we called the vet today and she said to schedule an appointment with a spine and neuro doctor.
Avatar m tn I am disabled and have a Therapy Dog (not Service Dog). I adopted my Golden Retriever from a local shelter in March 2005, when he was 2 yrs. old, so he is 10 1/2 now and I have had him 8 1/2 years. I had a Care Credit account for vet services but due to economy etc. my bills all are in collections and I only live on social security disability. My dog has had all his shots and meds through the same vet, who does a low-cost clinic monthly. He's current on flea/tick meds, heartworm, etc.
Avatar f tn I have an old Golden Retriever that is starting to bark for no apparent reason. He doesn't want food, he has water, he won't go out side, except to do his business. What can we do?
4784361 tn?1401231107 My dogs name was Reese. He was about 15 years old, a golden retriever german shepherd mutt, maybe. We aren't really sure. Last night, around 1 am, he starting crying, and he couldn't get up. This was sort of normal, because he has a bit of arthritis and it's been very cold here recently. But he was having more and more trouble than normal. He defecated in the living room, which has never happened in the last 14 years he's been with us. He was very well house trained.
Avatar f tn I have a 11 months years old golden retriever. Her name is gogoma which means sweet potato in korean. She is a really sweet dog. She was diagnosed with renal dysplasia last month. I decided to try the stem cell therapy at the Animal Medical Hospital in New York. Does anyone have more information or any experience on this treatment? Also, I'm feeding her rice and Royal Canine renal support dry food with 1:1 ratio. I also add two bumps of salmon oil for every meal.
Avatar m tn Could someone please provide some insight. She is female golden retriever age 3. We spend a lot of time in the woods, lakes, and, rivers.
Avatar f tn My female golden Retriever has developed bumps on the back of both her ears. It doesn't bother her and its not itchy but i want to know what they could be?? She's a year and six months old.
Avatar m tn 6 year old golden retriever (rescued four years ago). I run home from work for lunch and she has swollen red "welts" down her back and sides...face and ears are fine. She was just shaved three weeks ago due to her history of hot spots, so they are very visible. Any ideas?
306867 tn?1299249709 So it might be a cocker spaniel or a golden retriever. ( should I be ashamed that I know what type dogs Oprah has) LOL and Rachel Ray has a pitt bull. OMG I'm a freak.
Avatar f tn My 14 month old golden retriever has developed bulging eyes over the last 2 weeks. I have taken him to the vet, and they don't think it's glaucoma, but are not sure what it is. We had bloods taken at our request to test for a thyroid problem, and are still awaiting results. his pupils are not as reactive as they should be, but there is no cloudiness and no apparent pain. he is not rubbing at his eyes or anything like that.
Avatar n tn I had a 10 week old Golden Retriever puppy that suddenly developed seizures that wouldn't stop. He was perfectly fine...no symptoms at all one minute, then started having seizures the next. I immediately drove him to the emergency vet (it was 1:30 am) who ran blood tests. The initial blood test showed a high white cell count along with a 106 fever. He had to put him under general anesthesia to stop the seizures.
Avatar m tn My son boarded his beloved 9-month old golden retriever for 3 nights in Baltimore while visiting me in Florida this past weekend. The day my son was flying back to Baltimore he received a call from the boarder stating his dog was not his playful self & hasn't eaten in two days. When he was getting on his plane, he received a call from the boarder stating they were taking his dog to an emergency clinic because his dog was not himself.
655875 tn?1295695107 After being in severe chronic pain for a year, hubby decided to surprise me and get me a large kennel for mothers day! YAY! I did buy a golden retriever a few weeks ago, but it ended up attacking me several times, my daughter, my neighbor and then the breeder saw how vicious she was when I brought her back a week later. I am looking for another golden retriever. :) The week the puppy was here made my days go by very fast.
Avatar f tn My 6 yr old golden retriever has something on his lower jaw. As you can see in the picture it is about the size of a quarter. My guess is tapeworms or possibly staph. Any information is helpful.
Avatar n tn ALL babies are born with a heart murmur caused by a hole in the heart which usually closes up on it's own during the first year of life. Those types of murmurs are called Functional Murmurs and are nothing to be concerned about. Some babies have structure problems with the heart where different types of murmurs can be heard; those babies often times require surgery. The doctor is the best judge on whether or not the problem cna 'wait' or needs immediate attention.
4733442 tn?1358513248 Yes, its a few days later now and he seems fine but the lump is still there.
Avatar n tn I have a 16 month golden retriever. He has an ear infection, which I have learned is common in goldens. His vet had me treat it with ear drops and antibiotics. He went back today (after 2 weeks) and they said that he would need to have his ear flushed. This procedure would cause him to be put under sedation. The cost would be over 250.00.
Avatar n tn t answer, but I can say we had (decided) to put our 12 year old beautiful and wonderful and loving Golden down - his picture is in my picture file on my profile here. Ours had cancer in fat pockets and removal didn't stop the formation of new cancerous pockets, chemo didn't seem to be an option. We would have, however, kept the dog alive longer is he seemed to be happy and not in pain.
Avatar n tn Hello, i want to ask as to how long after a dog's passing, a golden retriever, and burial in the woods, i can learn about the manner of his passing through forensics and toxicology. I assume a Vet can tell apart broken ribs or any bone that occured post-mortum as rock were piled above the dirt etc and any blows while he was still alive. Note that its very hot. How is the dog after 2 weeks? Can i learn anything if so much time has passed? How much would a vet and any toxicology tests cost?
Avatar f tn We have the air conditioner on and it is only 70 degrees in our room. The past few days we have been able to see our choc labs breath. We have never seen that before except outside during the winter. Our golden retriever - well we can't see his breath. Could there be something wrong with him?
Avatar n tn Hope you get some inputs from experience. My little knowledge is with what I have called "fat pocket" which a large Golden Retriever had. I understand they can return, and in the case of the fat pocket, which I believe is a tumor, they can be cancerous. In this case, removal before it becomes cancerous is needed. Our Golden did develop cancer and that led to his death (put down).
Avatar m tn When we got them initially we had a female golden Retriever who was very mellow. She passed away a little over a year ago, and this August we got a one-year old, male Golden Retriever/Yellow Lab mix who is extremely high-strung. Also since the summer, due to declining health of some family members, my immediate family simply has not been around the house as much to spend time with our animals.
676344 tn?1226203565 My 13 year old Golden Retriever suddenly has a prominent third eyelid and the eye is recessed in the socket. He is acting completely normal. Should I worry?
