59010 tn?1315701116 It is possible, even in the presence of good air flow for a person to experience a fall in blood oxygen level, with exertion or, 2) you could have exercise-induced bronchospasm (asthma) so that with exercise your bronchial tubes constrict, resulting in greatly increased work of breathing or, 3) the shortness of breath and rapid heart rate you’ve experienced with running could be on the basis of heart disease rather than being caused by lung function impairment.
Avatar m tn I can really understand why you are asking questions, especially with your Fathers age. You have to remember that we are not Cardiologists, but we can offer options based on our perspective, what we would do in your shoes. Personally if this was my Father, I would leave the LMCA. It is borderline for intervention. It's definitely too risky for stenting and I doubt if stents would last very long in this case, they would likely re-block quickly.
Avatar n tn People with lupus of mixed connective tissue disease are at higher risk for develping coronary or valvular heart disease. Given that your symptoms have been going on for some time now, albeit, atypical probably warrant further workup. The most concerning would be the chest pain, although, you describe it as atypical. Unfortunately, women tend to present atypically and I would hate write this off to something else without doing a thorough work-up.
Avatar f tn Hi NiteOwlKB, I think your instinct to revisit your symptoms with a cardiologist is correct. Premature ventricular contractions (PVC's) that increase with exercise are a concern and require further assessment, particularly if associated with dizziness or collapse. It has been some time since you were seen by a cardiologist.
Avatar m tn t have any symptoms such as chest pain (angina), it would indicate your heart cells are receiving sufficient oxygenated blood. Usually, occlusions less than 70% should not be stented according to the AAC/AHA guidelines, but apparently that was done? Did you have chest pains? Do you now have chest pains? That should be a consideration before any intervention and whether or not medication can be beneficial.
Avatar n tn However, almost always the people that get this phenomenon suffer from some form of heart disease, arterial disease, or structural abnormalities. The most famous case of exercised induced tachy was Reggie Lewis who collapsed on the basketball court and died suddenly. It was later found that he suffered from the infamous hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This is why all young athletes are now screened for heart defects before playing their sports.
762919 tn?1234450210 s, holter monitor and 6 week long event monitor,oh and a tilt table to.. my cardio doc is done running tests. does this mean he had ruled out heart disease and heart issues at this point? I was told the tahacardia is sinus in nature and he does not feel the need for a beta blocker at this point. He told me based upon my tread mill I'm in farily good shape? Well what does that mean? I'm confused??

Avatar n tn Now THAT sounds like arterial disease.
Avatar n tn Tell me how can i reduce my weight at home. Will running and walking harm my heart.I have checked my heart beats it ranges from 90 when i run or walk and 65-75 when relaxed. The heaviness and burning is not continous. I can walk, run, and work. when last time there was burnning sensation and my left side was heavy i had consulted my family doctor as well as friend. He took it lightly and told that there is nothing to worry and advised to take a dose of alparazolam, after which i felt better.
Avatar n tn The symptoms for acid reflux and heart problems are very similar and often one is mistaken for the other. I spent a whole year on acid reflux medication before having a heart attack. I kept trying to explain that the throat discomfort I had was something I had never experienced in my 46 years of life, but unfortunately that didn't seem to matter. I too never suffered shortness of breath.
Avatar n tn m a 20-year-old fit female, but the other day when playing rugby I suffered a scary situation. After running down field I was overcome with a feeling of lightheadedness and my heart began racing at a speed where I could feel it fluttering in my chest. My teammates said I went very white. I retired to the sidelines where it took several minutes for my heart to return to normal and even then when standing I was still lightheaded and there was a mild feeling of discomfort in my chest.
Avatar f tn The test result information you provide, if valid, effectively rules out the common causes of such acute symptoms, such as classical pulmonary embolic disease and coronary artery disease with acute heart failure and raises the possibility of uncommon disorders. One caveat is that in a circumstance such as this, tests that may ultimately provide a diagnosis (for example, heart catheterization, CT scanning of the lungs, echocardiograms) may be normal or marginally abnormal at the outset.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your time. I know that my LAD has no calcification. The number was zero. Your number is extremely high. I know that I have plaque halfway down the abdominal aorta vessel. I don't think that is consider heart disease maybe aorta disease. (not sure) Once again thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn A small number of people who have MVP may need medicines to relieve their symptoms. Very few people who have MVP need heart valve surgery to repair their mitral valves. Rarely, MVP can cause complications such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) or infective endocarditis. Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves. Bacteria that enter the bloodstream can cause the infection.
Avatar f tn I used to think running meant running forever and at a fast rate like a speed racer. But as long as your heart is pumping, and you don't over-exert your limits, running slower at a longer distance is always your best bet! It burns more calories!
Avatar m tn What was the reason for the ECG in the first place, are you having specific symptoms? If you have symptoms and you went to your normal Doctor, I would go to the hospital to be checked out if you are able to do that. When I feel anything strange with my heart I always bypass my regular Doctor and go to the expert.
Avatar m tn What test do you recommend to rule out heart disease? When i first started having a chest pain 2 years ago they did ekg's, blood work, chest x ray and a resting echocardio. It all turned out good and the doctor never sent me for more test. He really never spoke of my heart again. Why would he stop and are those test enough to stop testing? I'm a 40 year old male, never smoked, always been thin, I'm 5'10" and 160 pounds. I have gerd and hiatal hernia and nothing else.
