Call a local hospital and ask about your situation, they may have a program for you, but don't wait until it's too late.

Compared to men with a full head of hair, men with crown loss have an increased risk of heart disease of about 23 percent. Avatar m tn I am sure I gad Thyroid disease in my thirties also, I never had any symptoms other than a slightly elevated cholesterol level, but when I hit 58 things really started going down hill, I started out with insomnia and had to quit work because I could not sleep, and that made the fatigue worse, but everyone is different as far as symptoms go, some get most of them and others only a few, it seemed in my case, I had all of them hit me at once, it then took a year before I found an MD that diagnosed
Avatar m tn t yet have strong evidence that testosterone replacement in patients with heart disease improves survival or reduces heart attacks, etc. I don't know if I would necessarily go the route of TRT unless you are having symptoms and/or have diagnosed hypogonadism (testes producing little or no hormone). I would discuss this with both your endocrinologist and cardiologist and come up with a plan that best suits you. Hope this helps!

Avatar n tn In coronary MVD, plaque can scatter, spread out evenly, or build up into blockages in the tiny coronary arteries. Spasms (vessel tighting) of the small coronary arteries also can prevent enough oxygen-rich blood from moving through the arteries. This too can cause ischemic heart disease. Symptoms would be angina or no pain with exertion.

Avatar n tn The symptoms for acid reflux and heart problems are very similar and often one is mistaken for the other. I spent a whole year on acid reflux medication before having a heart attack. I too never suffered shortness of breath.
Avatar m tn I can really understand why you are asking questions, especially with your Fathers age. You have to remember that we are not Cardiologists, but we can offer options based on our perspective, what we would do in your shoes. Personally if this was my Father, I would leave the LMCA. It is borderline for intervention. It's definitely too risky for stenting and I doubt if stents would last very long in this case, they would likely re-block quickly.
2086874 tn?1332686494 I ws watching TV one evening and without any warning or symptoms I lost the vision in my right eye. It was plaque in the artery and is not reversible. A few months later though I had some flashes of light and lost the peripheral vision in that eye. (In the beginning it was just the vision in the top portion of my eye. I know it sounds weird, but different areas of the retina see different angles.) Did your vision return?
Avatar m tn A small number of people who have MVP may need medicines to relieve their symptoms. Very few people who have MVP need heart valve surgery to repair their mitral valves. Rarely, MVP can cause complications such as arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats) or infective endocarditis. Endocarditis is an infection of the inner lining of the heart chambers and valves. Bacteria that enter the bloodstream can cause the infection.
Avatar m tn The latter presents with extensive heart damage, causing arrhythmias, weakened left ventricular functions, and, in the worst cases, heart failure requiring heart transplantation. In these severe cases, cardiac disease progression persists after the virus is long gone because the immune system continues to damage the heart. Anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive drugs during the early stage of the disease may help. Take care and regards.

Avatar n tn Seven years ago I had a mild heart attack and in ICU for several days with congested heart failure. I had a stent implant for a 98% blocked right coronary artery, 70% circumflex no intervention, and 100% blocked LAD. The LAD had developed collateral vessels (natural bypass) to supply blood to the area normally supplied by the LAD. I have been successfully treated with medication and today my heart has returned to normal size and effectively pumping blood into circulation.
