Common Questions and Answers about Heart disease diet articles

heart

Avatar m tn Atkins has more research on it than any other diet because it was developed originally to prevent heart disease (the creator, Dr. Atkins, died of heart disease!) The research showed that the diet did not work in the long run and was unhealthy in the long run, as it's too high in protein and too low in antioxidant rich foods. That's not to say it doesn't have its champions, but it hasn't panned out as hoped over time.

Avatar m tn If the angioplasty was successful your doctor will tell you to resume your normal eating habits and activities. obviously a heart health diet is recommended as well as appropriate exercise.
Avatar m tn Even nature has non-natural components and silicon-plastic is a part of nature. Is at risk of heart-attack. Pending heart-complications HR is really the measurement of heart and immunity response to intensive threats...high HR means dealing with intensive and deadly threats...
Avatar m tn I will say that severe pain in the sturnum needs to be evaluated to rule out heart issues, I rocked back and forth trying to sort out whether I had angina or stomach issues (I had both). I think a risk factor based on family members that had pancreatic cancer was sudden and unexplained weight loss as well as a change in the color of stools. Hope this helps, do encourage further tests to sort out your husband's issues.
Avatar n tn I just found out about the POSSIBLE connection between ear lobe creases and heart disease. I looked at mine yesterday and my left ear lobe has this line they're talking about. My right lobe is smooth. I have never taken time to look at my ear lobes ever before! I'm 57, female, and overweight by 30 lbs. This is such an eye-opener for me (as it should be), and I'm making IMMEDIATE changes in my diet and exercise program. It's too bad there are so many articles about this.
Avatar f tn just looking for alternative treatments and trying new things in diet to replace old eating habits.Any information would be helpful/I have had open heart surgery and a mitral valve replacement, stents, 2heart attacks, and coronary artery disease. im on warfarin, lipitor and plavix. im looking for other things to do to improve my heart health, like going to gym, eliminating salt intake and dietry changes and im just concerned with safety and drug interactions.
Avatar m tn AND, since many have become westernised, they have certainly started to see the real effects of heart disease. Erijon is correct in that these individual cases are often used to try and disprove the benefits of medications, but they never use the full story. It's the same with the French paradox for the English. Our neighbours consume tons of dairy products yet have very little instance of heart disease compared to us.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your time. I know that my LAD has no calcification. The number was zero. Your number is extremely high. I know that I have plaque halfway down the abdominal aorta vessel. I don't think that is consider heart disease maybe aorta disease. (not sure) Once again thank you for your time.
Avatar m tn There are certainly a large number of people with national average cholesterol levels, or even lower who have heart disease. There is a lot of research ongoing to try and understand what exactly is going on with lipids and heart disease. There is a link somewhere, but still nobody really knows what it is. Lowering lipids works for many people, but also for many people it definitely doesn't work and this is the reason for the research, it isn't so cut and dry.
Avatar m tn It is also odd how Japan used to be a main protein diet nation, then after hearing scares of fat related heart disease, they switched to carbs. They are now seeing heart disease increasing. I just don't understand what's taking so long in finding the cause. Perhaps they spent too many years looking at fat.
Avatar n tn It is also a major cause of disability. There are many different forms of heart disease. The most common cause of heart disease is narrowing or blockage of the coronary arteries, the blood vessels that supply blood to the heart itself. This is called coronary artery disease and happens slowly over time. It's the major reason people have heart attacks.
Avatar n tn it has been two years that I am taking levotyroxin because of doctors diagnosis of hypothyroid and it may be become hashimo disease. according to my last test my T3=2.78 n.r 2.5-3.9 T4=0.79 n.r 0.61-1.12 TSH = 4.10 n.r 0.34-5.60 TgAB = 42.8 n.r 0.0-4.9 Tg =0.34 n.r 1.15-35 B12 = 674 n.r 134-590 WBC = 6.4 n.r 3.6-10 (n.r normal range) according to these results do you think I have hashima disease ?
Avatar m tn It take HUGE lifestyle changes to stop heart disease. You have to eat a very healthy diet, exercise regularly, not smoke, stay stress free (not easy in societies of today). I often wonder if the lifestyle changes make medication necessary if you can achieve them. I've not seen a study done on this, but it would be very interesting. Personally, I think a good healthy lifestyle would not require medication unless your heart has already become too bad.
