Avatar f tn For instance, occluded vessels can interrupt a good flow of oxygenated blood and the heart cells functionality is compromised and heart wall movement is impaired, and occluded vessels will cause pain almost anywhere on the upper torso. But deep breathing that causes pain is usually not related to the heart. But there could be concomitant issues with a heart issue. Pain has so many causes that is difficult to have any decisive answer without tests.
Avatar f tn There are many causes for heart disease. There is a hereditary component, but many risk factors can be managed to reduce the risk such as proper diet, exercise, not smoking, moderate lifestyle, etc. What may be an issue with you as related to a heart risk could be your response to stressful situations that cause anxiety, etc. You are seeing a doctor and being treated so that may bode well for a reduction of any associated heart risk. Thanks for sharing, and take care.
Avatar n tn Physical Signs of Heart Disease Swelling of Your Feet and Lower Legs Retention of fluid in the feet and legs is known as peripheral edema. Edema may appear as "sock marks" at the end of the day. Mild peripheral edema is common. Your doctor may check for this sign by pressing a finger against your ankle or shin bone to see if a depression is left behind. This is called "pitting edema.
Avatar n tn This is because your heart is not getting enough blood under stress. Also, if your heart disease is more of a form of cardiomyopathy such as LVH or dilation of the heart, you may feel more rhythm issues. Everyone is different so everyone feels things differently. Unfortunately a heart attack is the first symptom 50% of those with heart disease experience so it is important to have this talk with your doctor.
Avatar n tn High blood pressure is a symptom of something that could be wrong with your heart. Not everyone has the symptom. Normal blood pressure is 120/72. If a person has heart disease, the doctors usually want the blood pressure lower than normal.
Avatar f tn Welcome...What I have found with Heart Disease, is it takes a while to get the medications adjusted just right......I personally would try just a combination of Enapril AND Lasix...The lasix are very important for fluid accumulation which causes the shortness of breath... I also agree LMB, If you haven't done this already, try some homecooked dishes or high quality canned food.....It is much more appealing..... I wish you luck....
Avatar n tn That's different from what I've heard. I had a friend years ago that was a "blue baby." I read that it's from a hole between the lower chambers of the heart which causes a mixing of the blood (oxygenated and used). I see it can also be from an aorta problem, the right ventricle being too muscular (hypertrophy) or pulmonary stenosis (the pulmonary valve being narrowed). Perhaps that what they meant by pulmonary problems.
Avatar f tn Tachycardia causes your heart to beat significantly faster due to its effects on the electrical signals that control your heart rate. Hope this helps.
Avatar m tn Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) is a progressive muscle disease of the heart and there is no cure for any muscle disease. There are drugs that you can take to help relax the heart muscle so that it will allow the heart chambers to fill better. A Myoectomy surgery can also be done if there is an obstuction to the outflow tracts (HOCM). There is nothing you can do to slow down or reverse this disease.
Avatar f tn There are so many causes behind congenital heart diseases. However ,if mother is having TORCH infection then she might be causing this disorder to the child. But solely she is not responsible for this.

Avatar f tn He died last September of heart disease that none of us knew he had. Do you always have heart disease if you have a heart attack? Were we just too dumb to know that?
Avatar n tn t reach that level through fatigue or discomfort, they resort to an injection which stresses the heart. If you have heart disease, it suddenly feels like someone is sitting on your chest and breathing is very hard. This lasts for about 2 mins tops. They then take the patient to the scan room where they have to lay on their back, keeping still, for about 30 mins. Slowly you watch the machine go around the front of the chest as it takes images.
Avatar f tn a diuretic to reduce fluids, (fluid retension causes the heart to work harder), medication to dilate vessels (relieves some work stress on the heart...reduces blood pressure) and medication to increase heart contractions enabling the heart to pump more blood into circulation with each heartbeat. This will give the heart time to recovery and the relief may reduce valve leakage.
86819 tn?1378947492 I recently ran across the University of Mn visual heart lab website, and see that they are using cameras to take videos of the inside of the heart. Just wondering about the state of the technology. Does anyone know if this is something in common use these days? Anyone know where to find out more about it? Seems like this would be a great way to guide testing from inside the heart.
