Avatar f tn You can try vagal maneuvers like coughing, gagging, or putting your face in ice-cold water, as this temporarily slows down the rhythm. Medications like verapamil and catheter ablation are needed for more symptomatic SVTs. Also, maintain a diary and note down your symptoms, to see what triggers your attacks. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn If it is related to the heart, the explanation could be the burden to the heart from a surge of oxygen demand due to the swimming exertion, possibly the cold water effect, and smoking inhibits good oxygen flow. "Cold stress acting over a period of half-an-hour to several hours causes the blood to become more concentrated and increases the risk of a heart attack," said Professor Keatinge. "Shorter exposures to cold may make people more resistant to it, but there are risks.
Avatar f tn Coughing, plunge face into cold water, drink a glass of ice cold water. My favorite is to hold my breath then bear down hard, like when you are trying to pop your ears. You have to do this as long as you can, then breath out slowly. Keep trying until it works. It's really amazing when it activates.
Avatar f tn Within few weeks started anxiety/panic attacks, more pronounced erratic heart beats, wee bit more tolerant of cold, little more emotional, same sleep issues I have had since being on levo. Had blood draw and after that whittled a bit off my tab (sounded like I was having too high a dosage) until I saw doc 10days later. Don't know why, but she only ordered TSH. Went up this year to 4.71 from 2.14 last yr.
Avatar f tn I used to get "mini panic attacks" all the time juss by doin' regular things that I used to do. Like one day after lunch comin' back to work, I went to go grab the Jewelry keys from the Csm's, walked to the Service Desk to get returns, then walked all the way back to Jewelry Counter with the returns and keys and my heart was beating so fast like I juss ran a marathon, then I was having trouble breathing so I had to go sit down In the break room and drink some cold water.
Avatar n tn I try and drink some cold cold water and find something to do that makes me happy. Getting a pedicure, talking to an old friend, playing with my 18 MO old. Just stay as busy as possible. Additionally, I believe in the law of attraction, you will attract the negative in your life if that's what you focus on. Try to avoid reading and listening to the bad things in the news it will only make you stress more. I avoid it at all cost. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn My friend has these panic attacks his face gets tingly and his hands to and we have to put them in warm water and he goes hot and cold. Also he thinks really negative when he gets these attacks. He has been drinking alot of water and going to the bathroom alot to. Are these symptoms of diabetes and how does he get diagnosed?
Avatar f tn Thank you. My SVT used to revert on it's own with in about 15 minutes or with cold water, neck massage etc. but last year it all changed and SVT attacks would come out of the blue and make me feel like I was either going to faint of die on the spot....I ended up getting adenosine 5 times...but I finally found out that I had SVT and about ablation. I read all about ablation. I was scared to get it and scared not to try.

1028452 tn?1537448484 It is nice to have a cup of cold drink after a meal. However, the cold water will solidify the oily stuff that you have just consumed . It will slow down the digestion. Once this 'sludge' reacts with the acid, it will break down and be absorbed by the intestine faster than the solid food. It will line the intestine. Very soon, this will turn into fats and lead to cancer.. It is best to drink hot soup or warm water after a meal.
1554262 tn?1374240001 I have these attacks freguently and cold water will immediately stop the pain. I can feel the water going down soothing the pain as it goes down. I have no idea what starts it. For the first time I had the pain last night in bed. It usually happens at work, especially when I'm bending down for something. I will run, knocking over anyone in my way, to get to cold water when these numbing attacks happen. Please if anyone finds out what causes this, post it right away.
Avatar f tn Hi - it happens to me too some nights. Just as you describe. I have a blood pressure monitor and if I check when this is happening my BP is way up, but that is just one of the symptoms, not the cause. I can't work it out and neither can the doctors. They have given up - I just take a valium which helps me keep a bit calmer (Im a stress head) and helps keep panic attacks I have when this happens at bay, or at least keeps them not too bad.
Avatar f tn I have had them for 20 years though they seem to finally be under control most of the time. I have found that cold water and putting a rubberband on my wrist and snapping it seems to break the fear and panic as our minds can only control the sensation on place at a time. If they sent you home I am sure all is well.
Avatar n tn Are you under a lot of stress right now. For me, when I was going through this, I would wake up in a cold sweat after having really bad dreams....nightmares can be quite common when we are under stress in my opinion.

Avatar n tn So I love being outdoors. Running, hiking, walking, tennis, etc. But lately, when I run, or do something active, my arms go numb veins bulge out. One time I was even hiking and my arms turned ice cold and I became extremely dizzy. (i had plenty of water so i wasnt dehydrated) I don't understand when this is happening. I've been told it could be from a heart disease? I'm only 22yrs old so this is nuts. Anyone know why this is happening?

Avatar f tn When my mother would get heart attacks her only symptoms was out of breath. Her brother had what he thought was a flu for a couple of weeks, and then had a sudden fatal heart attack at the age of 31. He died of severe coronary artery disease per autopsy. I, too, get chest pains and find now that if I take a 81mg low dose aspirin a day it really helps eliminate the chest pains. I have been getting chest pains for 9 years and have had the usual of heart tests and nothing was found.
Avatar n tn I work in a factory and out of no where i get cold sweats, pass out, and then wake up not knowing how long i was passed out. What causes this?
Avatar f tn Does anyone experience panic/ anxiety attacks? Last night I woke from sleeping and very suddenly I felt intensely cold and shivering. The temperature in the house was normal. I grabbed a blanket and tried to warm up to no avail. My teeth were chattering and my extremeties cold and rigid. I had difficulty catching my breath inbetween shivers. The symptoms lasted 30 minutes before I got warm. I'm 20 weeks and just starting to show. My stomach felt cold and hard too.
Avatar f tn “When I refer to cold water throughout this discerption I mean a 30-ounce Yeti tumbler filled with ice first then filled with cold water, then refilled with ice and water until the pain is extinguished. Plain water without ice is useless for me.” Other times the pain comes on fast and intense as hell. It’s pure evil!
Avatar f tn breathing exercises, visualization, hot baths to relax, splashing cold water on your face, using a cold pack on the back of your neck or in your hands... you can read more about techniques to reduce your anxiety on this website: http://www.calmclinic.com/anxiety/treatment/relaxation Just remember it's only anxiety.
