Avatar f tn I am a 47 year old female, family history of heart attack. I have been on bp meds for 5 years. I have not been feeling well for a few months. My BP fluctuates - it is better after taking my bp med Lysoprine. Last night I had a spell and my legs were shaky, clammy, sweaty, and nauseous. then I yawned uncontrollably for 10-15 minutes. My neck became sore and stiff. The feeling passed, but a Blood pressure check a couple of hours later revealed 180/109. I checked it 3 times.
Avatar m tn For example, a person coming to an emergency room with severe chest pain and a suspected heart attack is immediately given aspirin. This prevents some of the platelet clumping which can obstruct the blood flow to the heart. Aspirin is an effective medicine to prevent these clots, but it does not totally paralyze the platelet. Therefore many people take daily aspirin and have no problems with bleeding.
1481758 tn?1287638643 Every heart attack is different, so I believe. But it could be just different descriptions from people about the same symptom for all I know. Numb hands & feet, cold tingle, not sure about upset stomach, shacking, all don't sound like a heart attack and in fact the tight chest is the only one that is. I'd assume they drew blood which is probably where they got the ammonia idea.
Avatar f tn Nitro is not meant for the treatment of a heart attack and should never be taken for that without a doctors telling you to do so. Heart attacks are generally caused by either a plaque build up in the arteries or a clot and this means that the oxygen or blood flow is impeded. Lets just say for the sake of thought that you were having a heart attack and it was caused by a clot issue..
Avatar m tn Any jaw pain? Left arm pain ? Neck pain? Those are other signs for a heart attack... I know this sounds funny but it sounds like gastritis/indigestion:) He could try to take a prilosec ... or other heartburn indigestion medication :) good luck!
Avatar f tn Rheumatic heart disease. During a first rheumatic fever attack, about half of people develop heart inflammation, but this doesn't always result in permanent damage. Most people with rheumatic fever recover fully after six weeks. In some cases, however, one or more of the heart's valves may be scarred. Permanent heart damage due to rheumatic fever is known as rheumatic heart disease. In many cases, heart damage isn't discovered until years later.
Avatar f tn I am on Plavix for my Heart Attack and my husband is on Coumadin for a blood clot he had 3 years ago 1 month after he had broken his ankle and had to have surgery. I say he should be off the Coumadin already. He went back to work full time after the broken ankle and also lost 60 lbs. He says the Plavix is just as bad.
Avatar m tn Can you please explain, in layman term, what attack acardia is and what is the treatment? I have an artificial aortic heart valve. I am a non smoker and only have an occasional beer, so not a heavy drinker. I am 63 yrs old and overweight with a very sedentary lifestyle since I also have arthritis in both knees and left ankle.
Avatar m tn No, a panic attack is not dangerous when you have a high fever. It may make you feel worse, but it will not harm you.
976897 tn?1379167602 I am truly confused about the term 'heart attack'. The definition used in cardiology seems to be that it refers to heart muscle being zero supplied by oxygen and necrosis is a result. Yet, we hear so many times of people having a heart attack, going into the angio suite, having no procedure and being sent home with no damage. This cannot be a heart attack then? In march, my troponin was elevated and I was told by the cardiologist that I had a heart attack.
Avatar m tn Oh, I forgot to add, he prescribed Zoloft for anxiety. Just a few more questions.....Even though he basically diagnosed anxiety, could it still be a heart problem? The symptoms didn't just last about 30 min and came back. They never went away and are still here (total almost 6 straight days!). I didn't think my heart or any heart could take all that for so long!

Avatar f tn Your husband should be scheduled for an echocardiogram to determine if there was a heart attack!? If there were a heart attack, the results would be evident as there would be heart wall movement impairment. The impairment, if serious would reduce heart contractions and as a consequence a low cardiac output. The low cardiac output and if the underlying cause is not treated will eventually lead to heart failure (my experience).

Avatar f tn Hi. I am a 51 year old female who had a heart attack at age 48-100% blocked LAD, which was able to be stented. From what I am told, I am lucky to be alive. But, the doctors cannot figure out why I have heart disease. I have several other blockages, mostly between 10 to 15%, but one is at 65% and cannot be stented because of location. I also have heart failure. My heart rate is usually in the low 50's. Yesterday, I felt very sluggish and my blood pressure was 80/53 and pulse was 46.
Avatar m tn I went to the ED a while back for flu-like symptoms and fever after a surgery. They admitted me due to elevated troponin levels (243) and tachycardia at rest (118bpm). I had an EKG, echo, and chest xray, but was only told they looked "fine". I was eventually discharged with the one word diagnosis "pericarditis," no meds, and no explanation or plan other than to follow up with mt PCP.
Avatar m tn Someone who has had a heart attack needs close monitoring and treatment to prevent a second heart attack. Any new or worsening symptoms should be reported to the healthcare provider.
Avatar n tn You should have an evaluation of your cardivascular system to rule out any serious heart problem. There are treatment options available and timely therapy that sometimes can reverse a condition, stop progression, etc. Thanks for sharing, and if you have any further questions or comments you welcome to respond.
Avatar n tn Have you been diagnosed with a septal MI? This is a heart attack that causes damage to the wall separating the chambers of your heart and would present with all the classic symptoms and signs as any other heart attack, chest pain with exertion, shortness of breath, excessive sweating ect. The treatment would depend on the source, location and severity of the blockage causing the MI. Again, is this a speculation on your part or have you been diagnosed?
