Avatar n tn Hi Abe! Thank you for posting on our website! I am the Mom of a 17 year old who was diagnosed at the age of 21 months. I am not a medical professional, so any medical information that I pass on to you should be verified with your healthcare team. I think it's terrific that you are being proactive about warding off diabetes since it runs in your family. The type of diabetes that your parents are dealing with is type 2 (non-insulin dependent).
Avatar f tn Just want to say, if it only takes 10 minutes you're not cooking oats, you're cooking rolled oats, and probably quick oats at that, meaning they're already partially cooked and much of the fiber is gone. Whole oats take about an hour to cook. And if you have to add sugar or honey, you're not buying good quality oats -- oats are naturally sweet and don't really need any added sugar.
10275373 tn?1409333029 So I found this recipe and I plan on breast feeding and I thought this was useful cause I want to make a lot of milk for my baby so if u plan on breast feeding u may find this useful as well ... 1) Water OK, so water isn’t technically a food, but it is the most essential aspect of ensuring you’ll have an adequate milk supply. According to studies, 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
Avatar f tn I'd be glad to give you the recipe, but almost any recipe will work. The necessary ingrediet is the gluten-free oats. You can't trust products that are transported in containers that hold other grains since that can cause contamination, as can holding the oats in silos that could also hold other grains. Google 'gluten free oats' and you'll come up with a small farm that sells gluten-free oats.
Avatar f tn Sugar free peanut butter on brown/seeded bread toast; Wheetabix with milk with fruit if you wish Weetabix with natural yogurt and some soft fruit of your choice (blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, etc.) Shredded wheat with milk - add soft fruit if you wish Porridge cooked in the microwave for around 4 mins - cooked with milk, half milk and half water, or just water with soft fruit of your choice, or dried fruit, some cinnamon if you like it.
Avatar n tn Gotta give that a try (both trail mix and healthy cooking). Thanks.
Avatar f tn I need some easy and quick ideas for healthy meals I'm started to eat the same thing all the time
1202943 tn?1347840652 For recipe ideas, google Gluten Free Club. The lady has already tried and failed at various recipes before posting recipes that work. You can also just google Gluten Free Recipes. There are insane numbers of resources available now. You do need to understand about binders such as xanthan gum and guar gum that need to be used to make gluten free bread and pastry items work. I wasn't able to use the quinoa pasta, though, because I am also very intolerant to corn.
Avatar n tn I wonder if it is possible that my IBS problem involving gluten not only affects the gut, but also heartbeats? I have been eating quick oats for a while, in the belief that oats dont contain gluten, but maybe 15 mins after breakfast I start to get rapid heartbeat & a strange fluttering feeling in the stomach, + wanting to sleep. I have substituted puffed millet for 2 days & the symptoms dont happen, but flavoured gluten free rice biscuits bring it on at lunch time!
93532 tn?1349370450 When I want a recipe I see I just copy and paste to MicroOffice. I can pass the recipe on as an attachement. I store these in a recipe briefcase.

Avatar m tn I am currently adding uncooked steel cut oats to my morning shake. I am curious if I am still getting the same nutritional value from the uncooked oats as if I were cooking them?
193137 tn?1367880063 I just got this recipe from my vet as part of their Christmas card and thought I would share it with you in case you wanted to give your dog a homemade treat in his/her Christmas stocking. Pumpkin Puff Pet Treats 1 1/2 cups canned pumpkin 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract 3 1/2 cups oats 1/4 cup applesauce Directions: First, preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix all ingredients together thoroughly. Drop tablespoonfuls of the mixture onto an ungreased baking sheet and press flat with a fork.
973741 tn?1342342773 Overnight Oats seem quite the rage today. Is this because they are easy, healthy or both? Any variations you like that you would like to share?

Avatar f tn I'm 34, male, 6ft2, healthy weight etc. and no known conditions although I am taking mirtazipine for the last 2 months. I have a close direct relative, father, who has diabetes type 2 (diagnosed in mid 50s). The last 3 days I've woken up in the middle of the night and had this strange sensation that I needed to pee. However it definitely isn't a strong, intense urge but rather just a slight awareness if that makes sense.
Avatar f tn I know that this is a pretty good recipe for a healthy person to take Daily who is not on any meds; but I wanted to ask you if you could advise me whether or not it's also good for someone who is taking the above meds.
