Avatar m tn but you gotta keep track of the calories man. You should be under 1800 calories per day if ya wanna lose the poundage.
Avatar f tn Hi Marcy180, I read your journal entry. You said you are ready to start a new diet. As an aside, have you discussed the fact that you are starting a new diet with your family doctor. It's always advisable to discuss any new diet with your doctor. You say, how many calories am I supposed to eat in a day? I live in Canada. So I use the Canada food guide to plan most of my meals. That's why it's a good idea to consult your doctor.
1645905 tn?1301477821 You need to cut 500 calories a day to lose 1 pound a week. You can also exercise and burn 500 calories a day to lose 1 lb a week. For example my total calories burned a day is 1725. I can cut 500 calories (in which I would eat 1225 calories a day) and I'll burn 1 lb a week. It takes 3500 calories to lose 1 pound. You can split your calories up however you want depending how much you want to lose....
Avatar f tn d have to drop 500 calories from your BMR each day (1 lb is equal to 3500 calories, so 500 calories X 7 days = 3500 calories or 1 lb). OR you can drop 250 calories from your diet and increase .....
Avatar f tn Do not eat only 500 calories a day, that is extremley unhealthy. Look for a new diet. Do not starve yourself. Eating 1200 is what I would recomend. It's high enough that you can still eat three meals a day, but not low enough that you're starving yourself from nutrients that you need.
Avatar f tn Breastfeeding burns an extra 500 calories a day as it is. Dieting is not an option. Eating frequent HEALTHY small meals and snacks is honestly your best bet. If you look on the internet and type in something along the lines of "meal plans for breastfeeding moms" then a whole bunch of info should pop up for you. Example meal and snack menus will also pop up to give you an idea of what and how often you should be eating.
Avatar f tn Safe weight loss is, typically, 1-2 lbs/week. Plan to give yourself a deficit of 500 calories/day (eat 250 calories less and work off 250 calories more), you'll lose 1 pound a week (500 calories/day X 7 days = 3500 week - 1 pound). My Fitness Pal is a good app, however, we do have our own app, here on MedHelp to track your food, calories, exercise, etc so give it a try, also. Adult women should not go below 1200 calories/day.
Avatar f tn Why is it impossible for me to loose any weight eventho I watch closely my calories each day and use the exercise bike
Avatar m tn Lots of lean meat, poultry, tuna, low fat-no sugar dairy, veggies, fruits and raw nuts, cut down on pasta, rice, bananas, sugar, honey and potatoes. No alcohol, it helps, too. Good luck!
Avatar f tn You never should go under 1200 calories a day. Doing 500 calories a day is dangerous and will only tell your body to store fat in order for the body to survive. If you exercise moderately and more for several hours a days times 5 or 6 times a week...you need to eat healthy so that you won't have body injuries. My endocrinologist said no pills, no programs. Eat healthy and wise.
Avatar n tn The only thing you can do is eat more food. Count the amount of calories that you are eating per day and add 500 to that number. It has helped me gained a few pounds. If you find it hard to eat, try to divide your meals into 6 frequent ones throughout the day.
Avatar m tn congratulations on your new baby. now, losing weight after a pregnancy is never easy. remember to start off easy and slowly add-on tasks. watching what you eat and making sure you eat healthy meals/snacks is also very important, especially if you are breastfeeding. you want to make sure you're consuming enough calories and nutrients to keep your body going as well as to make sure your milk supply is good for your baby.
Avatar f tn Thanks so much that helped a lot :)
Avatar f tn If you go over your calorie limit does it give you less calories till you make up the calories you over ate because I had like 500 calories but I over ate a few times and now it says 300 something
Avatar f tn If your bmi is within normal range then the healthy amount of weight to gain is between 25 and 30 pound. Just continue to eat healthy keep up with walking etc, you only need an extra 500 calories a day when pregnant.

Avatar m tn Now, if you want to lose a pound a week, you’ll want to cut that total by 500 calories per day to hit that goal (3,500 calories equals a pound of fat) This discussion is related to Losing weight to fight diabetes.
Avatar m tn hi there! My suggestions are to make sure 1) you eat something for breakfast, 2) do not eat ANYTHING after 6 PM, 3) drink 8 glasses of water a day, and 4) eat food and not shakes (it will be more satisfying and also how many calories are in those shakes???) and 5) you need like 4-6 very small "meals" and not 1 at 500 calories. If you only have 1 real meal and it is 500 calories, that needs to be breakfast.
Avatar f tn Can you not just eat healthy balanced meals around 1000-1200 calories and do HCG and lose the weight? I have ben on every diet known to man and am 51 years old. I know I have damaged my metabolism. I don't believe in eating less than the calories I listed above. So would it be possible to eat healthy, no fried foods, white flour or white pastas, no sugars.
Avatar f tn I agree with TrudiC...500 calories a day is suicidal! If you are really wanting to lose weight the right way then i think you shud consider eating healthy and exercsing. Simply straving yourself is not the right thing to do and it could lead to seroius consequences....
Avatar f tn i am losing the battle against calorie intake. I know you're not supposed to go over 2,200 calories per day..... but how? Every once in a while I go over and I'll feel super guilty. I do protein shakes, protein bars, healthy snacks and no meals and extra water. I don't regularly give in to cravings either. It is hard when all I can think about is my next snack. What do you do to stay under 2,200? Any recommendations to ease the pain of the calorie count?

Avatar n tn they will say exercise and lower calories, increase water and eat 6 small meals instead of 3 large and load up on good calories like fruits n veggies,,,drink low fat milk , no sugar, low fat everything...
Avatar f tn But if you really want to lose weight cutting back on calories will really help. Try to eat 1500 calories a day but make sure you dont skip meals. Losing weight is easier if you have someone to support you so find a family member or close friend who will also try to lose weight with you. Fast food is packed with calories and fat (at least most of it is) so avoid it but if you're going to eat it then try to get the healthiest thing there and yes drinking water does help.
Avatar n tn Way more than 500 calories a day!! I believe you can look up the exact amount of calories, but I do know its way more than that. Your doctor can also explain to you the weight gain. Everyone gains differently. But congrats!!!!
