Avatar f tn If drug treatment is covered by your health insurance- can it be denied as a "pre-existing condition" if you were getting treatment and paying out of pocket before you got the insurance??? Anybody know? Someone told my son that because of ADA it cannot be denied. Anybody know?
1365830 tn?1277997291 If your pregnant you are already covered with your health benefits, but some insurance companies refuse to cover you or charge you more just because you have pre-existing condition.
Avatar f tn You can not add anything to your husband's insurance that occurs BEFORE you are insured. If you had the baby aftet you got insured they can't refuse to cover it due to preexisting conditions but they won't go back and cover a birth that has already happened. You are talking about at least a 10,000 bill from the hospital if it is a normal vaginal delivery with a 2 day stay Plus the bills from your doctor. I would try to find something else or get a personal policy for a few months.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone! I am so sick of health insurance companies its ridiculous!! My only idea of what to do next is go to their office and stomp up and down and scream at them to kiss my A**! I am at wits end... so I was hoping if i posted my insurance dilemma here.. maybe someone else has some insurance knowledge that they could share with me and a more appropriate plan of action than my stomping and screaming approach :) lol Heres my issue....
Avatar f tn So the good news is no insurance company can deny you coverage because of your pregnancy. There is a bit of bad news, however. You are way past the enrollment period to get gov. Subsidized health insurance - insurance that you would have received a tax break on and the type that is heavily regulated in what they can and cannot do.
1180136 tn?1264810891 I've been told by my drs that in time - no one knows how much time - that I am going to need a transplant. I have ascities and obviously cirrhosis which means the liver is decompensated etc. I've had preexisting conditions for so long that having insurance hasn't been an option. I've checked and the cost of a transplant is around $520,000 and about $5000 a month for meds to keep the transplant. So far I haven't found any options that pay for it or help pay for it.

Avatar n tn Dear boater08, It is true that you have to requalify to switch back to medigap in future but the preexisting condition waiting period can only be imposed for a maximum of 6 months. So the possible risks can be something as simple of a 6 months waiting period on your pre-exisitng conditions (including your current conditions and anything that could develop between now & then), or as worst as not qualifying back for a medigap plan.
Avatar f tn Not sure if your husband has to stay at his present job but it may be beneficial to switch to a company that offers health insurance. Group insurance typically covers pre-exsiting conditions.
Avatar f tn If you Run a Small Business or work for one About 80 percent of American businesses employ fewer than 10 workers, and less than half of these firms offer health insurance. Among companies with between 25 and 100 workers, 85 percent offer no coverage, according to official reports. The new law helps these small businesses provide insurance for their employees—and enables workers to change their jobs, or even set up their own businesses, without fear of losing health coverage.
Avatar f tn Hey there... I have an appointment with Kaiser ob/gyn tomorrow morning, and hopefully I'll be able to make some progress on investigation and/or treatment of this complex cyst I have going on. I'm newly with Kaiser, and although I filled out all the health questions in good faith, I really thought they wouldn't accept my application because of a pre-existing condition.

Avatar n tn I've never heard of that but you boyfriend should call then and ask because I know done insurances can deny based on preexisting conditions. Generally though, you can get added onto a husband's insurance, as long as they allow it, some insurances through work don't, within a month of getting married.
Avatar f tn Once my husband and I got married we added me to his health insurance plan through work. I was on medicade which was a blessing and was relieved to switch since we had the financial means to. We finally got all my paperwork and new cards in the mail. I went to the doctor to find out the insurance is saying it's a pre-existing condition and not covered!
903660 tn?1252977130 I have a dumb question...I think I know the answer, but wanted some opinions. It's about the fun topic of insurance. My husband may be losing his job. I will have the option to pick up my employer's insurance if he does. I have already filled out the paper work to "deny" my company's insurance (as I am covered by my husbands).
Avatar m tn ok i understand but i am and adult i just got private health insurance. In the application i told that i have no preexisting condition.Would my insurance still pays for it.
Avatar f tn Here in the U.S. Health Insurance is very expensive. I spend $600 a month for insurance with a $10,000 deductable I have to pay every year. Then some insurances make you pay hundreds a month for MS drugs. I have Cancer and MS my medical bills are over $100,000 a month mostly picked up by the insurance. I am in a group plan if I had to buy my own insurance it would be over $1,000 a month in premiums alone.
Avatar f tn Good news! 699970 tn?1228235830 We haven't had insurance for about 3 years, so my I am very concerned about my husband who was diagnosed about 5 years ago with chronic hep b. He was supposed to be followed up with, I believe annually, with the specialist. He went 2 times and his liver enzymes, back then, came out unchanged, but that was about 2 1/2 years ago. Right now, as a contractor, he is in-between jobs and we don't qualify for state help (or self insurance as he has a preexisting condition).
