645800 tn?1466860955 Dennis--I know the VA fails its "customers" consistently. It needs to be fixed. You probably don't even have the energy for this, but your congresspeople need to know--from you and anyone else--how the VA is trying to jerk people around. Like I said, their faults are endemic. The things going down at Walter Reed were just awful. They need to take care of those who served, and they need to do it by doing the right thing.
Avatar m tn Dear grasshopper, I would normally encourage you to obtain some Individual health insurance coverage, but with your pre-existing condition, you may not qualify for an underwritten health insurance plan. However in your state (VA) Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shied may have some options for. You can contact Anthem VA at toll free 1-800-304-0372. Should you find yourself in need of medications before you obtain your converge, visit www.NeedyMeds.
147426 tn?1317265632 didn't know about that. i did apply. had a pysch consult. didn't need a consult for the neuro stuff - i guess the records from the va and other docs helped with that. no, they called and asked if i had any other paperwork due to what the va sent them was not helpful. gee, can't imagine that. so i sent them the va paperwork they didn't send and from non-va doctors. i was only able to wear my happy face for a few hours, then i kinda lost it.

1016618 tn?1420553262 Went and filed for VA Medical benefits today. They said I make to much money but they also said I could file for help cause I was a veteran of the Vietnam era. I was in the Marine Corps from 1972 to 1975. Anyone get any assistance from the VA that is under like circustance?
Avatar m tn The VA tends to dope people up to keep them complacent. So do emergency rooms and health plans. It's just easier and cheaper than really working on the problem. Read the newspaper series that have been done on vets coming home from Iraq and Afghan, and how doped up they are. When it comes to mental problems, all health plans bite; they were dragged kicking and screaming into covering these problems at all. It's not just the VA; it's all health plans.
306867 tn?1299249709 I had health insurance all my life until a few years ago. I have been screwed by insurance companies 3 times in my life and was left holding the bill. One of these occasions, the surgery was pre-authorized by the insurance co. It was for a laparoscopy. I had endometriosis surgery years prior. When they did the laparoscopy they found a fibroid tumor and NO endometriosis, but because the doctor put ....rule out endometriosis....it was stamped pre-exsisiting and they did not pay.
Avatar m tn The medications I do get outside of the VA are cheaper than getting them through the VA ($3 for Part D vs $8 for VA) Plus the 90 day scripts are even cheaper. The part D plan I selected has no deductible so I know what it will cost me up front for my RX but there are also plans that cost less monthly with a deductible.
Avatar m tn I worked for Tricare when it started the HMO for Military Families. It might be nice to think the VA should be an insurance program and Veterans can choose the providers. That seems cool but it is a low bid private insurance company running the show. We denied every claim three times hoping Military Families would give up. We had a rules manual the size of two Telephone books.
Avatar m tn "So I'm wondering.....why are they maintaining that there is "no way to tell".....? Does this strike anyone else as more ignorance on top of the injury? Am I missing something? " ---------------- It gets much worse. Let me show you.....
Avatar m tn the surgery was corrected with stints, does this mean I no longer have congestive heart failure? Shouldn't the VA be liable for the failed surgery since they bypassed the wrong artery, which their surgery notes stated they did the correct artery identified that later needed to have a stint placed within it?
Avatar f tn Army Vet, on baby number 2, and no I'm not getting help from the VA with my pregnancy. I have been through the VA myself and I haven't got many good experiences with them. My husband is also an Army Vet, he has a really good job and he got us all insurance, so it's treating us well, and I'm 6months now and only had to pay about 130 out of pocket. And the insurance company sent me a free electric double breasted breast pump. Love this insurance.
Avatar f tn Every vet who receives their medical coverage from the VA will now be able to get treatment so that is still very good news for those treated by the VA as they previously were like many medical insurances denying treatment except for those who were F3 to F4 Just not a way to do an end run around your insurance provider if you have insurance that won't cover. Still there is hope that all insurances will come around at some point.
Avatar f tn Like someone else said , the ONLY way to know how your insurance works and what is covered is to call your insurance and ask about your specific policy. I worked for a major health insurance company for years and the biggest mistake you can make is not calling them in advance. I also recommend finding out what options you have for permanent coverage for your baby.
Avatar f tn Call your health plan provider. It's different with each state, I believe.
Avatar n tn Hi, I just found out I do not have health insurance. We thought it would be until the end of the month but it's already done. I wad still under my moms plan and she was laid off last month. Well I had medical assistance through the state my last pregnancy but they dropped me when she was a month old because of my fiance's income. My daughter still has medical assistance.
Avatar f tn What health insurance coverage/plan do you have? How much do you pay deductible and premium? Im so confuse about that. I'm 35 and planning family soon, but I'm so confused about this. thank ;you Just trying to get an idea.
387294 tn?1207620185 My son and daughter may be looking for health insurance after they leave college and are no longer dependents. My daughter has been diagnosed with a bicuspid aortic heart valve. She has a healthy heart and it is working well. With this impact her chances to get health insurance on her own? Will it impact our ability to continue her insurance after the cobra period is over on our insurance?
Avatar f tn I am going to lose my health insurance soon. I was wondering if anyone knows of any government programs I can participate in in order to afford doctors appointments and delivery.
3180580 tn?1344745287 m super excited to meet my little girl and such. i am 17 and a senior in high school. what kind of health insurance would be options for me to get got my baby.
Avatar n tn m currently 20 weeks and not working at the moment but I do have money save up. Does anybody know any health insurance that will help??
Avatar m tn Hi, I was wondering if anybody could help me with a health insurance question? About a year ago Anthem Covered two separate visits to the doctors office that I had gone to. So initially they paid and I thought I was all set. Now, almost a year later, they retracted payment due to my coverage ending within days of the visits. I understand if I wasn't covered, but I am wondering how they can pay for it and then decide they were wrong and bill me a year later?

Avatar f tn Hi Frrecks, I'm sorry that I don't know anything about the insurance, since we still have private insurance. It has to be so difficult to set aside the financial worries and concentrate on feeling better. I do know a lot of the DMD companies have programs to assist anyone without insurance. As for my private insurance cost, my employer just finished the open enrollment for next year and here is what I will be paying for my health insurance - $238.00 a month for me and my spouse.
