Avatar n tn My husband (40 y/o,healthy)and I (40 y/o, healthy) are looking to get our health insurance coverage from next present. Right now we are on cobra GHI( extension from my previous work place) but they are asking me to change to EMPIRE PPO or EPO since they will not have GHI. I did not have dental and vision coverage previously but even if I want it they are saying they cannot add it. They are also asking for a one year committment.
Avatar m tn I make roughly 70k. So I hope I get the right health insurance that meets what I am looking for and that matches my income. Thanks in advance.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have individual health insurance (not with an employer) that covers ANY part of infertility? I mean meds, IUI or IVF. Thanks!
Avatar n tn Hi all! I am a little over 6 months pregnant and changing jobs (and therefore insurance). In any case, I have two selections available for me upon my hire: a PPO and an HMO. Does anyone have any idea which would be easier for out of pocket cost to continue my prenatal care? My doctor is covered under both. Thanks for your help!
Avatar f tn My husband had 2 retina detachment surgeries and 1 cataract surgery (as a result of the retina surgery), all within 5 weeks. He currently has silicone oil in his eye to hold the retina in place, and it's to be removed in 6 mos. He's being treated by an opthalmologist surgeon at our HMO insurance. Come this November, we have the option of switching to Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO.
Avatar f tn now all health plan has standardized coverage - so the same deductibles and co-pays. all health plans cover prenatal care. you have to look if it is a PPO, HMO or EPO PPO you do not need to see a primary care doctor before seeing a specialist - but you are charged extra if you see a doctor out if the network.
Avatar n tn As for more limitations on mental health coverage than physical health coverage as you may know the mental health parity law was passed recently and will go into effect in January 2010 so after that it will be specifically against the law. But if there are regulations on specific medications independent of mental health, within your healthcare plan I would appeal the denial and see if you could be granted an exemption.
Avatar n tn I would like to know if there's any other help insurance i'm currently with Scott and white health insurance PPO And they cover everything except for something to do with the eggs I'm not sure Lol I would like to have answers if there's any other insurance and hopefully I can find out what is the part that Scott and White don't cover but if it's cheap enough then I can handle it but if it's six or 7000 I don't think so life is so hard when you don't have
Avatar f tn MY ADVANTAGE HMO HEALTH INSURANCE DENYED ME OF DME - CPAPA MACHINE AND MASK FOR NO REASON AT ALL BECAUSE I HAVE A SLEEP STUDY REPORT THAT SAYS I HAVE SLEEP APNEA . Avatar m tn Medicare Advantage Plan (Part C) (like an HMO or PPO) or other Medicare health plan that offers Medicare prescription drug coverage. You get all of your Medicare Part A (Hospital Insurance) and Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) coverage, and prescription drug coverage (Part D), through these plans. Medicare Advantage Plans with prescription drug coverage are sometimes called “MA-PDs.” You must have Part A and Part B to join a Medicare Advantage Plan. Hope this helps.
763297 tn?1281379425 Hi everyone I just went to my doctor who referred me to a fertility specialist. I need to get insurance that will help me pay for some of this because it looks like it's going to be very expensive. Can someone please tell me what some good companies are that aren't too expensive.
1691275 tn?1322327507 I have been battling a slew of symptoms (fatigue, dizziness, vertigo, mental fogginess, depression, etc.) for over three months now, and after a head CT I was diagnosed with a severe maxillary sinus infection.
Avatar f tn I am a group benefits rep and work with alot of small companies for their health insurance and other benefits. What might be helpful is to get the name of the person who does that for your husband's company and call them next year and find out your options that way. I have spouses call me all the time for that reason. The husbands dont seem to want to give it very much attention. Good luck and keep pushing.
Avatar m tn I am not trying to start a political debate here on public vs. private health care... just noticed that some people have been frustrated by insurance companies that wont cover certain tests. I am simply curious. thoughts??
20620809 tn?1504362969 Our HMO gave it to us for free. Check with your health insurance provider.
667078 tn?1316000935 I basically since my diagnosis of MS have only one choice for health insurance through my husbands work. We used to have four plans to choose from. Now it is two a basic and standard PPO. Now they are doing mandatory weight and smoking checks and if one member of the family smokes or has a BMI of 40 or above you are forced to the basic plan. I do not have to worry but my husband is a big muscular guy.
419309 tn?1326503291 (1) Has anyone had to change health coverage/insurance carriers during treatment? Due to misinformation from my pharmacy and current HMO as well a low prescription maximum, my husband may have to change insurance carriers during treatment. Besides making sure all his doctors are still "in-network", is there anything I should be checking on before changing policies? (Thankfully, pre-existing conditions are not at issue, so we're ok there.
Avatar n tn I am a care manager at a Health Insurance Company. I expected to see the insurance company "ripping" members and providers off. But I was very surprised to find that things are done quite ethically. The best source of health insurance informaton on the web is ahip.org, the website of America's Health Insurance Plans. There is a section with consumer information and a health insurance guide on it.
Avatar m tn Problem – 01 Absolutely no Doctors are taking this insurance. I call the Health Insurance on my card and call the Doctors office and both are saying that I am screwed. I call BCBS and they say go online and check and also call in to see if Doctor is in Network. I go online see a Doctor call in and make sure with BCBS and call the Doctors office and low and behold the Doctor says they are not in network.
Avatar f tn I had a similar problem several years ago when our family needed to apply for health insurance. The insurance company would allow all of us to qualify EXCEPT my husband. I asked 3 separate times why he would not qualify, and they gave me 3 different answers. I think it may have been because I was ultra conscientious with all of the health questions, and I included a minor bout with Belle's palsy that my husband had (probably because it put him at greater risk for neurological problems).
Avatar n tn My question is how much do these procedures cost? I have health insurance, but I have a $5,000 deductible that has to be met first, and then anything above that is paid by my insurance at 100%. I am trying to figure out what my out of pocket expense would be for RAI vs surgery. Does anyone have any idea? I just want to have an idea, so I don't freak out if I get a bill for $5,000. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
142841 tn?1201975052 I have United Health (HMO not PPO) and am just starting to wait for approval, so this is good news. Thanks.
Avatar f tn regarding insurance coverage by BCBSL.As i reside in Peoria and work here in IL state ,i know its mandatory for coverage in IF. Right now i have PPO ,but planning to change it to HMO advantage BCBSL. PPO also covers IVF ,but i have to pay deductible to take this service ,but HMO coverage is also there for IVF and there is no deductible to take the service ,so we r planning to change it HMO advantageIL, kindly someone suggest me weather i am doing a right decision.
Avatar f tn It really depends on the company, each of their policies are different. Usually HMO vs. PPO has little to do with prescriptions, it has more to do with in-network issues. You may also have a secondary insurance policy for prescription drugs, which is very common (I have United HealthCare, but my prescriptions go through ExpressScripts). A lot of insurance policies will farm out things like prescriptions and mental health benefits to second companies.
661788 tn?1269014586 The next step up is Healthy Ny which you pay a premium and it is like an hmo. They also offer Child health Plus which is based on family income and it is based on income monthly premium is anywhere from 0 to 80.00 per month. No co pays no cost for prescriptions. It is our states way of making sure there is no child left without medical coverage. Of course they also have Medicaid which goes along with social services and welfare.
