Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar n tn This happens very infrequently, but if it does, there are many treatment options available. If a cancer recurrence is detected in your neck lymph nodes, the best course of action is usually an operation to remove the affected node or nodes, as described above. Other treatment options include radioiodine therapy. Radioactive iodine is given as a pill and this iodine is taken up by thyroid cancer metastases and the radioactivity destroys them (without harming other parts of your body).
587787 tn?1218804459 Keep in mind the MRI was early in the morning, laying flat on a table with a towel roll under my neck, and a head stabilizer strapped to the back board. So I still wonder that if the headaches are worse as the day progresses, the weakness is worse, the numbness of my face, tingling of my fingers and feet.
Avatar n tn Oral HPV has no preference oral or vaginal, its equally satisfied to live in either place, it loves mucosa. Testing every biopsy and reporting HPV positive or negative head and neck cancers is now standard requirement teachings hospitals, but its still relatively new. I work in a giant teaching hospital in pathology. 90% of all base of tongue and tonsil cancer are hpv. we are finding up to half of all oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, nasopharyngeal cancers are hpv related.

611254 tn?1223914841 I'm a 38 yr. old who is currently undergoing treatment for two neck issues and I don't know if they could be related. I have had a thyroid nodule for 7 yrs. now. After the initial check of the lump I was told to come back in 6 months. Well, 7 yrs. later I decided to see a Dr. to get it re-checked because I really don't feel good. After an MRI,US & FNA (showed atypical very hypocellular) I am currently awaiting my appt. for a surgeon to biopsy the nodule.
Avatar f tn I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar f tn In December, I started having terrible neck (like my head was too heavy for my body) and shoulder pain, along with headaches. Went to my chiropractor, who diagnosed me with Forward Head Posture. Had never heard of it, but it made sense after him explaining that my posture was so poor (from 30+ yrs working either at a microscope or computer desk) that my head is too far forward, causing many problems, including the neck and shoulder pain.
Avatar m tn com/id/50388546/ns/health-cancer/ Besides obesity, the report points to another potential growing cause of cancer – HPV. The report finds that two cancers on the rise, head and neck cancer and anal cancer, are caused by HPV. “HPV-associated cancers accounted for 3.3 percent of all cancer cases among women and 2 percent of the total cancer cases among men diagnosed in 2009,” the report reads. That adds up to 21,000 women and more than 13,000 men diagnosed with these cancers.
Avatar f tn With that said, you MUST visit either a neurologist or orthopedist ASAP to get a head scan... sometimes scans right after a head injury won't show much. It is after that if symptoms develop, that a head scan may show swelling or hematoma, so you gotta have that checked out.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn Unfortunately, there is no HPV-based screening test approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to identify men at risk of head and neck cancer, the same way a Pap smear identifies women at higher risk of cervical cancer, says the health letter. Thus, men should stay alert for early signs of disease and seek immediate evaluation, since with standard treatments, cure rates are 75 percent to 80 percent.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn Okay - now I'm totally confused. I know there are some strains of thyroid cancer that are "treatment resistant" meaning they won't absorb the iodine (and radiation). So . . . if you have resistant papillary *why* did they give you RAI? Usually it is medullary an anaplastic cancers that won't absorb I-131 or I-123 but there are some strains of papillary and follicular. Unfortunately I can see why they want the PET scan.
Avatar n tn Acne will have a white head on top of the pimples most times. Cysts are usually painful and can get larger, and as for cancer your doctor would have to take a biopsy of the spot and test it.
Avatar m tn but after and before and at bed time is the worst times for the pulse in my head. As for the lump on my neck the doc thought it was a lympnode its still not went down after the course of my antibiotics..its about the size of a penny and its soft but not circular its puffed out in the shape of a line i can feel it most when i turn my neck to the side. Ive also got pressure about my nose, but thanks doc if you could reply to this it would be so greatly appreciated thank you!
Avatar m tn The best advise that I can give would be to visit a doctor. These days lots of things are associated with cancer. If you have a bump on the back of your neck then you should not wait to see what happens. You should visit a doctor. The doctor maybe able to tell you whats wrong.
Avatar n tn If the FNA biopsies are benign and the nodules are not causing symptoms, then this can be monitored. Otherwise, surgery is usually indicated. In some cases I-131 therapy (radioactive iodine) may help to shrink benign nodular goiter. With the normal TSH, levothyroxine is not likely to help.
621386 tn?1221532483 I wish you the best of luck and go get a head and neck cancer specialist to check you out completlyl! I would demand it we even had to travel out of our area to a cancer treatment center.
1242672 tn?1268361461 Most likely, your symptoms may be due nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of injury or prolapse due to neck lump where contact between the edges of the vertebrae can cause neck pain. In few people, this pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head, shoulders, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) that you felt. Other symptoms are like neck pain and stiffness can be intermittent.
