Avatar m tn Scientists say that 64 percent of cancers of the oral cavity, head, and neck in the U.S. are caused by human papillomavirus (HPV), which is commonly spread via oral sex, NPR reported. The more oral sex you have - and the more oral sex partners you have - the greater the risk of developing these potentially deadly cancers.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.

Avatar m tn s your risk of getting it in the neck is very small, let us then reverse it and say that there are very many who have it then means of course the risk that get it in the neck or getting cancer of the throat is very small in relation to how common HPV is, we have found that many people who get cancer of the throat has HPV, it's a big difference to come up with how many people have oral sex who gets cancer, as I said, oral cancers linked to oral sex, oral sex, but can hardly be said to be link

Avatar m tn Hi, How is your boy friend? Was there a previous trauma to his head or neck in the past? Pain at the back of head or neck may also be due to arthritis headaches. It intensifies on movement and is usually caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help but I recommend that further evaluation be done for proper management.

Avatar n tn I found what I believe is a lump on the top part of my breast. The only time that I feel it is when my arm is behind my head. It's sore when I push on it. It's not a round lump. I am thinking it's nothing because I can only feel it when my arm is behind my head. Could this be cancer and should I get it checked out?

Avatar n tn Oral HPV has no preference oral or vaginal, its equally satisfied to live in either place, it loves mucosa. Testing every biopsy and reporting HPV positive or negative head and neck cancers is now standard requirement teachings hospitals, but its still relatively new. I work in a giant teaching hospital in pathology. 90% of all base of tongue and tonsil cancer are hpv. we are finding up to half of all oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, nasopharyngeal cancers are hpv related.
Avatar f tn In December, I started having terrible neck (like my head was too heavy for my body) and shoulder pain, along with headaches. Went to my chiropractor, who diagnosed me with Forward Head Posture. Had never heard of it, but it made sense after him explaining that my posture was so poor (from 30+ yrs working either at a microscope or computer desk) that my head is too far forward, causing many problems, including the neck and shoulder pain.
Avatar n tn Because i had that skin biopsy result worry, are these 2 things related at all? should i forget about cancer and get it out of my head? i saw a general Dr (not a dermatologist) and they said it was an infection of some sort, they seemed to know nothing about what mucin meant, i dont trust what general family Dr's say about skin things because they are not familiar with skin biopsy results etc.

It was the prostate. This has rocked my foundation and I'm treated for depression but still it's a tough time . I allowed myself a one time experiment with m/m encounter as a bucket list experience .
