Avatar n tn However the 3rd day I went to the ER room to get some help because the pain was unbeleiveable. They did a CT scan and a MRI, MRE and a spinal tap to rule out Meningetis. all were clear. They sent me home with seizure medication and said to follow up with my doctor which I plan on doing. If I had throat cancer would it have shown on any of the test that were performed?
Avatar f tn The survival rate depends on what specific treatment was used in the clinical trial, and what organ the squamous cell carcinoma originated from (e.g. lung, head and neck, skin, unknown primary site, etc.). I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar m tn Headaches, weight loss, most joints pain, bruising at finger tips, bruising on her legs, lower back pain, pain in her neck, nausea, loss of appetite, loses feeling in her face, grey hairs on her head coming through, her face is starting to look very old. Avatar f tn I hope that in the meantime she has tests (MRI breast, PET CT, ER, PR, and other IHC stains on biopsy specimen, tumor markers, genetic tests, etc) to determine the primary site from where the cancer originated, and has started treatment for it. Many women with axilla adenocarcinoma and normal mammograms have breast cancer, which may be identified in some of them by breast MRI or on pathological examination of surgically removed breast.

Avatar m tn Despite what he says, the neck with the unknown location of the affected gland(s) - that might even not be in the neck in some percentage of the cases - is not an easy surgery. There is some risk of damaging the laryngeal nerve and I try to weight the risk of getting kidney stones and/or brittle bones later in life (that is not 100%) to the risk of complications of the surgery (that is not 0%). I am not in the U.S. and I have no idea what center has what complication rates.
Avatar m tn I am currently waiting on diagnosis of cervical cancer Sed Rate-High ANA-negative I will be having an EMG, Thoracic MRI and some X-rays (neurologist) next week Currently I am seeing specialist because for the last 3 years I have had 3 PCPs tell me that nothing is wrong with me except that I am stress out and that is why I am having muscle spasms and the neck pain. 2 weeks ago I got the cervical MRI and got some insight into my neck pain.
Avatar f tn Mostly they are on the top and sides of my head. Today I got one near my ear. They are definitely in different areas of my head. They last about 2-5 seconds, feel like a sharp lightning bolt shooting across the area of the pain and then it leaves that area of my head numb for 5-10 minutes. The lightning bolt pains are unbearable, but the numbness is bearable. I am able to function and do my normal everyday work. Is this something I should be worried about?
Avatar f tn My primary referred me to a neurologist but I can't get in until July 19th. I've been experiencing neck stiffness, headache like pain, dizziness and weakness. It's quite concerning. My primary checked my insulin so unsure of the results at the moment and I don't see my new endo until the 30th to discuss insulin issues, if any. What could cause the head pain, neck pain, dizziness and weakness?
Avatar f tn In february 2011 I had to have neck surgery from c-3 to c-7 fusion on each disk and a plate with 7 screws. There was pain after the surgery and nerve damage in the neck and both shoulders and arms. I have not been able to work since then nor have I been able to do any of the things that I did before the accident. I tried everything that I was asked to try, therapy, stimulator, hot pads, nothing worked. For the last 6 months my pain level has increased.
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?
Avatar m tn 3 more weeks -my scrotum turns red and irritated and starts to burn. burning continues and spreads in the folds of my skin (thighs). my entire scrotum and penis burn. 6 months later -arms, chest, back and face broken out in what appears to be folliculitis -very oily. bumps that crust over on my scalp. forehead-skin colored bumps. penis and scrotum skin are very thin. neck lymph nodes swollen. little energy.
661497 tn?1227724461 Cindy - I just prefer his staff in the Head and Neck Clinic. They seem much more friendly and understanding and caring there. I like his nurse much better there in the Head and Neck Clinic than in the Endo Clinic. I have had a few "run-ins" with her and have had to go thru Patient Advocacy to have them addressed and taken care of. Dr Clayman on the other is wonderful. I have no problems with him.
Avatar f tn I have pain all through the back of my head 24/7, but I have sharp pains through the left side of my heart by my temple and towards the back of my head. The sharp pains last about 30 seconds, sometimes more. After a while I get a earache in my left ear. I tried tylenol it doesn't work. The only thing that work is Excedrin PM and it only works to go to sleep not make the pain go away.
Avatar f tn I am an A student and cheerleader at my school and my grades are starting to slip because my head, neck, and back are killing me. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!
Avatar f tn The problem is that now the pain is down in my neck and I can hardly turn my head from side to side. The pain feels almost like a burning pain in my neck and major stiffness. I don't see how sinus problems could last for this many months. Can sinus issues also make your neck hurt and be stiff? I don't know where to turn next. The neck pain and the ear noise is definitely getting on my nerves. Does anyone know what could be going on?
Avatar n tn she has seen primary care, infectious disease control and allergy doctos and none of them can tell her what it is or what causes it. Biopsy says bacterial fungus, but steroids and antibiotics not helping.
Avatar f tn Hi. My primary doctor felt a nodule in my neck and sent me for an ultrasound. Ultrasounds show a 3.5 cm nodule, which looks like it is part liquid and part solid. He said the solid part is cause for some concern and referred me to a general surgeon. The surgeon wants to remove my thyroid and lymph nodes without doing any further testing. He said they have to assume the calcification is cancerous and to be safe, it all needs to be removed.
Avatar m tn Hi, It is good that the physical examination was normal, During warm up, stretching, and exercise, it is possible to pull almost any muscle in your body, including the muscles in the head and neck. Over stretching of the muscle fibers can lead to tearing especially if the muscle is subjected to a sudden force. Rest and ice packs may help provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.
914782 tn?1243435663 I recently had CT scan of head and neck that revealed I have 4 tumors. Three of the tumors are on my jugular (the largest measures 1cm) and one is on my thyroid(measures 1.5cm and is hypodense). This all by itself has made me a nervous wreck because the first thing that comes to my mind is the big scary "C" word. I've had a 'lump' on the left side of my neck just below my ear for approx. 8 years.
