Avatar f tn I can answer your question better if you can give me more details regarding the patient being treated (age, sex, etc.), the type of cancer being treated (lung, head and neck, etc.), and the treatment being given. Hope to hear from you soon.
Avatar f tn Through donations on this web page and philanthropic foundations we have been able to expand our basic science efforts as well as initiated and run two clinical trials in Edmonton. In collaboration with the Cross Cancer Institute and the Alberta Cancer Board, we are running clinical trials in patients with solid tumours that have failed standard therapies as well as in patients with malignant brain tumours.
Avatar f tn am now experiencing joint pain, swollen glands, exhausted all the time. Also feeling a pressure in my head and lots of eye puffiness and edema elsewhere. Whatcha think it is? Have I gone on to liver cancer? My kids live across the country and am trying to decide if I should just go home to them and spend time with them while I still have a chance. If its cancer...the prognosis is 3-6 months without extreme measures...and like I said, no doc, no insurance...feeling kinda depressed bout it all..
Avatar f tn Started off as a knot on the back of my head right where necks start on the bottom of head.. then I noticed I had a tiny knot in my neck. Did some research and cancer started to pop up on the Internet.. I freaked out and anxiety went into overdrive.. doctor examined me and thought it was due to allergies.. got cat scan and the side with knot the lymph nodes and glands was bigger but they said they didn’t see anything wrong ..
Avatar m tn Could you possibly mean MORAb-300? There are some clinical trials out there, but I don't know what stage they are in. You might try the major cancer centers around the country to see what they have. Good luck to you.
621386 tn?1221532483 I wish you the best of luck and go get a head and neck cancer specialist to check you out completlyl! I would demand it we even had to travel out of our area to a cancer treatment center.
329994 tn?1301663248 t know if I can post this or not, so will not post the actual information yet, but I received a magazine from a very good hospital in my area and in it was information about the ovarian cancer clinical trials that they are doing and a number to call if someone is interested. I live in Central Florida. So, if it is ok to post that info, or if there is anyone on here that would like that info, you can always send me a message.
Avatar n tn No PSA tests have been done and as he is only 44, white and no history of prostate cancer in the family, risk factors were thought to be low. Following a recent biopsy he has been told that evidence of PIN has been found. He has now opted to undergo a second biopsy (which was very painful), inflamation apparently sitting on his seminal sacs. How worried should he be about the possibility of prostate cancer being detected and are there any treatments for PIN?

Avatar n tn Your doctor seems to be an advocate of trials so I would suggest that you ask him about looking into what is available out there, whether at MDA or elsewhere that he would think could benefit your mother. Trials come up often and close often...all trials will include some preapproved chemo, so she would be getting some standard of care chemo plus whatever trial drug. I am a very big advocate of trials....especially with ovca because after the standard fails...it's just a **** shoot.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn My onc. has suggested I look into clinical trials for my colon cancer. How do I go about this and where do I start. Please any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Has anyone ever heard of breast cancer (IBC or other) spreading up the neck to cause neck, ear, and head pain on that side? I have a swollen axillary node and pain in my breast and up my neck to my ear and head and nobody can figure it out, even breast specialists. Does this sound famiiar to anyone? Thanks so much for any info.
Avatar n tn I must say that there are so many conflicting reports about vitamin C and cancer - and even any other disease for this matter - that it makes me wonder how come the medical community can't agree, at least in part, on something that has been repeatedly studied and discussed since Dr. Linus Pauling in the 70s? There must have been a factual conclusion somewhere, sometime after all these years.
Avatar n tn They have given mum a hormone tablet called femara to take for the rest of her life which they have said is an anti cancer drug and will kill any cancer cells. Has anyone had this? I am pleased that the chemo has worked.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?
847512 tn?1272567062 But now all of a sudden the last 2 days I have gotten extreme muscle spasms especially in my neck and shoulders to the point where I cant look up or turn my head I can only look down and I have tension in my legs where they feel stiff when walking. Does anyone get that? I also get the spasms in my legs but not so much as in my shoulders and neck. this is getting out of hand.
Avatar n tn Check the internet for clinical trial updates; Aromasin is currently in clinical trials for ovarian cancer. Previously it was only used for breast cancer. It's known to cut estrogen production by up to 95%. I'm not waiting for the trials to conclude; I want to feel like I'm being proactive now. Best of luck to your mom. It sounds like great news!
Avatar f tn I realize how fortunate I have been. I have lost dear friends to this "stalker" cancer and it so unfair. I am still grieving the loss of my dear friend Kelly. I am so glad we went to Camp Mak-a-Dream together in Nov. Of course, I have no way of knowing, but I'm thinking the fact that I am BRCA2 positive has been to my advantage. I try to keep up with studies, etc. and they have found that BRCA positive women have better survival rates and time between occurrences.
Avatar m tn After reviewing various studies that have been done on oral HPV, there seems to be a clear link between HPV and head and neck cancer. I believe the American cancer society also supports this link. That being said, ~18 months ago, a female friend of mine performed oral sex on me twice within about a 3 week period. I learned 6 months later that she had an abnormal pap, and tested positive for high risk HPV (not sure which type). That brings me to the following questions: 1.
