Avatar n tn My husband developed squamous cell carcinoma 5 years ago. After 8 weeks of intensive radiation treatments, along with chemo, his behavior also changed. He doesn't remember things!! He also lost the use of his arms, his shoulder fell out of it's socket, he can not speak and can only eat thru a feeding tube. In the summer of 2009, after two years on home hospice, his tumors disappeared!!
1442059 tn?1340240952 I am on week one treating type A and feeling really bad side effects. I feel almost ready to do something drastic. I don;t know if I can even tolerate this.
Avatar f tn I am ovarian cancer stage 4. I have had 1 treatment of "AVASTIN" and getting ready to start my second treatment tomorrow. Can anyone else on the treatment tell my of any side effect they have had from this, and did you have success in reducing your CA125.
415684 tn?1257329318 PoLi is also showing promise in the treatment of other cancers, including head and neck. In addition, the company is developing an injectable gel-based formulation that could be administered directly to tumor sites without any surgery.
Avatar n tn There are many different tests available to try to identify cancer recurrences in the neck and elsewhere in the body such as lung or bone. One of the best and still least expensive tests is a careful physical examination by a practitioner skilled in thyroid disease. Because papillary thyroid cancer tends to spread to lymph nodes in the neck rather than other far away areas such as lung or bone, a careful physical examination can easily detect a recurrence in a neck lymph node(s).

Avatar f tn Hello, I was just reading about an older dog having a problem with urinary incontinence and the treatment she was given, particularly the possible side effects. My White Bearded Collie (13 years old) started being incontinent last year and my vet has prescribed INCURIN 1mg daily. This has been mostly effective (just the odd occurrence when she was asleep or distressed). I was just concerned that it may have some serious side effects such as those mentioned for the other treatment (PPA).
Avatar f tn I did not lose my eyebrows or eyelashes although they did become thinner. However, I did lose all of the hair on my head, under my arms and in my public area. I did not lose the hair on my legs or arms. All of the hair grew back except for the hair under my arms. I have not had to shave under my arms since I had chemo. : ) My chemo was AC and I didn't have radiation. I hope all goes well with your treatment.
Avatar n tn I just read your 11/13 comment and I have only one thing to say about Botox in the neck...NEVER AGAIN! I had 4 injections and not only did I have the worst head and neck ache but landed in the hospital from severe dehydration from "going from both ends". I hope I never get that sick again. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that it helped but I wasn't one of them. I sure hope you are feeling better by now.
1431734 tn?1421011671 s ahead with your HCV treatment. I think you will do well if you have the same frame of mind and keep on top of the side effects as they come. I worked throughout my 48 weeks of TX -- wasn't easy but it got done. Since you are already on the thin side, be sure to keep up your nutrition during treatment. You might have to work at that -- which is something I had to do too. Big hug to you for beating breast CA...now go beat that HCV!!
Avatar n tn Yeah, I've seen all that. Unfortunately I saw it after I got on it. I'm going to talk to the originating doc about getting off this medicine, because I really don't like it as much as I first thought. HOWEVER, it did do it's job. It's now after more than a year and a half that the "ugly" side of it is starting to show. I've found some ways to manage its side effects, and most days still like being on the drug (with the exception of the expense).
Avatar m tn I stopped the Zantac after about 12 days and on that day my neck started to ache like crazy. The day after I was in pain and had a bad sore throat, still dry coughing. Is this a side effect of the Zantac? Or is this a sign my throat is healing from never having taken this kind of medicine before?
Avatar m tn I finished the 48 tx in October and I found many remedies to many different side effects. I also found that they come and go and new ones come and go. Deal with each one individually.
Avatar n tn He nicely and kindly explained that if I had chemo it was because my cancer needed that treatment, but that I should have been told because there are ways to avoid such a loss of eyesight and the thickness of the cataracts. He also told me I could have the cataracts operated but not now, to let my whole body rest, recover and get strong again. He prescribed two different kinds of eye drops one for the day and another for the night. He gave me the prescription for my new glasses.
Avatar n tn Hello, Has anyone else experienced a sore, swollen tongue and swollen and painful salivary glands after receiving RAI treatment? My taste buds are really messed up as well. I told my Endochrinologist about this and she says she's never heard of a swollen tongue as a side effect and told me it is unrelated. I have never had a swollen tongue in my life. She's making me feel like a freak! Is there anyone out there who has experienced tongue problems? If so, how long does it last?
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for sharing that with me. It helped a lot. I am so happy you are doing so well and that the side effects were minor for you. My mom's nerves are a little high right now not really knowing what to expect but Im sure it will all turn out just fine. Thanks again!
Avatar n tn It is now 4 years since diagnosis, 2.5 years since my treatment finished and I know I have many side effects from chemo still and these are in the main permanent. My veins are ruined from my hand up to my neck noticeably (and probably all of my veins are affected). My thinking is foggy. My right eye still hurts, and has been ever since chemo. My feet ache severely (neuropathy or something like that). Gums greatly receded. I have a small percentage chance I'll get leukemia.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar n tn what side effects from thyrogen shots? I had pill uptake in Feb. my cancer is back, stage 3 pap. I got extremely sick from the pill, hopefully not so much from the injections. This discussion is related to Cancer's back, alternative treatment to going off synthroid?.
Avatar n tn I discontinued the med and the head posture returned to normal over three days. Gait took a day or so longer and pupils started to react after five days but remain sluggish. Drug induced myasthenia gravis is described rarely in the literature. My very experienced vet says he has never seen it. Has anyone else? We have restarted the med with 2 mg of prednisolone added qd and so far so good. Make any sense to you?
Avatar f tn Hi For about 3 months my neck hurts, especially when i try to tilt my head back or down to the left. The pain radiates to my ear and up the left side of my head. I cant sleep on my right side , the pain is so intense. Should i see someone for this?
425825 tn?1222629631 t get discurraged and think that treatment is NOT working just because your side effects are minimal. Be thankful and stay positive that you will reach SVR. The mind can do amazing things. I would wake up every morning with the thought of NO SIDE EFFECTS, going to be a great day and I will feel good and have energy to get me through the day and most of the time it worked! I think i took like 5 days off of work the entire 48 weeks. Keep us updated!
678069 tn?1254422777 Does anyone know what percentage of people on this treatment experience hair loss? Ive read a lot and hair loss seems to be a pretty common side effect. But just how common is what Im wondering. I believe I can handle the other stuff (Flu-like symptoms, depression, etc). Its the hair loss thing that really has me worried. Oddly enough, I have shaved my head since I was 12. BUT, there is an obvious difference between someone shaving their head and someone who is losing their hair.
Avatar f tn Turns our the lump (2.5 cm) is a lymph node on the right side of neck so the cancer has spread. I am having surgery Sept. 9th for a TT and neck dissection to remove some lymph nodes too. What are the chances of the cancer turning up somewhere else since we dont know how long it has been haning out in my lyphnatic system? It seems uncommon for it to spread to lungs, liver or bones but can it happen? planning on doing the radioactive iodine treatment 5-6 wks after surgery.
Avatar f tn I appreciate the help with the side effects, I was trying to figure out if I was having normal side effects and which would be from the Tylenol and which from the oxy. I am trying to make sure I take breaks when I can handle them from the meds, so I don't get dependant or addicted. But the pain gets so bad that I can't sleep for a few days, then I finally take something and wonder if I am in fact getting addicted? Scary, I have seen addiction in my family and it is not good.
