Avatar n tn ve made it this long so must not be cancer? Anyway, my internist wanted a throat scope and review of US he ordered so sent me to an ENT. That visit was 90 seconds. he didn't know who I was, why I was there, didn't have or review my US and didn't even feel my neck while swallowing which seems the normal thing they do. He said is acid reflex and no need for anything further, see internist in a year.
787406 tn?1339203183 Today, I went to see my ENT and she told me I have 4 large lumps or masses on my neck 2 on each side. Also, one in cheek near jaw joint. CT scan has been scheduled for Friday and possible biopsy after CT Scan. I had a total thyroidectomy in March of 2009 it was a microcarcinoma papillary cancer 0.5cm. Also enlarged parathyroid gland was taken out along with alot of nodules. If the cancer was encapsulated, why would it come back now 1 year and 6 months later?
Avatar f tn It is well known that high-doses of radiation is a risk factor for development of cancer. The dose of a CT head is ~1.5 mSV which is equivalent to 150 chest xrays. A review by Davis et al in Radiation Research evaluated their experience of cancer development following CT scans. What they found is that there may be an increased risk after three or more CT heads to the neck and head. This risk required there be a family history of cancer.
Avatar m tn lymphh nodes, i touch all of them almost every day and have been to the doctor and he touched them and said it was dandruff irritation they been here for 3 months now. I had a CBC and antinuclear test done, both were fine. I had a antistrepysolin 0 done and it was high this was about 2 months ago though. Avatar n tn I have a lot of confidence in New York Eye and Ear, I understand they get a high case load of thyroid cancer. Also, both their pathologist and head and neck surgeon are very dedicated and good people. If you need another opinion in the local area I recommend them. Hurtle cell carcinoma(bad) is difficult to distinguish from adenoma(not bad) by FNA from what I gather, however the “bad" is supposedly aggressive and worth the risk of taking out.
Avatar f tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities. Occipital neuralgia is caused by irritation or injury to two nerves that run from the upper neck to the back of the head.
Avatar f tn Started off as a knot on the back of my head right where necks start on the bottom of head.. then I noticed I had a tiny knot in my neck. Did some research and cancer started to pop up on the Internet.. I freaked out and anxiety went into overdrive.. doctor examined me and thought it was due to allergies.. got cat scan and the side with knot the lymph nodes and glands was bigger but they said they didn’t see anything wrong ..
Avatar m tn I probably have some vertigo going on, because when I tilt my head back to look up, I get dizzy and the fullness/buzzy/shaky feeling intensifies but these sensations occur with my head in a straight position. It does not interfere with my daily work, I just have to focus a little more and steady myself from time to time. Last Nov I had an MRI of my neck, showing some cervical stenosis, sometimes tingling down the left arm down into my ring finger.
621386 tn?1221532483 I wish you the best of luck and go get a head and neck cancer specialist to check you out completlyl! I would demand it we even had to travel out of our area to a cancer treatment center.
Avatar f tn The tumor board review of your case is a good idea, but likely the next step may be additional neck surgery followed by I-131.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn I went to the doctor that night at an urgent care center and asked me a few questions and palpated and checked my eyes and ears for bleeding. He told me I have a contusion (bruise). I did not even get an x-ray. I am currently a student in massage and understand that head injuries whether they are minor or not should be treated as serious just to rule out anything. I didn't have typical symptoms like nausea or dizziness or blackouts. Just tenderness in the spots hit.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Has anyone ever heard of breast cancer (IBC or other) spreading up the neck to cause neck, ear, and head pain on that side? I have a swollen axillary node and pain in my breast and up my neck to my ear and head and nobody can figure it out, even breast specialists. Does this sound famiiar to anyone? Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?

Avatar n tn Occipital neuralgia is a term used to describe pain originating from the base of skull to the front and side of the head. Other symptoms include tender hypersensitive scalp and pain and pressure behind the eyes and eyes are sensitive to light. This is definitely a possibility in your case however nothing can be said for sure without a clinical exam. Please schedule an appointment with a headache specialist and keep us posted.
