Avatar n tn Oral HPV has no preference oral or vaginal, its equally satisfied to live in either place, it loves mucosa. Testing every biopsy and reporting HPV positive or negative head and neck cancers is now standard requirement teachings hospitals, but its still relatively new. I work in a giant teaching hospital in pathology. 90% of all base of tongue and tonsil cancer are hpv. we are finding up to half of all oropharyngeal, hypopharyngeal, nasopharyngeal cancers are hpv related.
Avatar m tn Step 3 Examine the color of the skin above the lymph nodes in the neck for discoloration. A pink or red color indicates an infection that is not under control and should be reported to your doctor. Step 4 Look for other symptoms such as fever, weight loss, tiredness and night sweats accompanying painful lymph nodes. These can indicate very serious conditions such as lymphoma and cat-scratch fever, so you should immediately let your doctor know.
Avatar f tn if it turns from yellow red to you regular skin color quickly then your skin absorbed the iodine and you may need some of that in your body. If not MRI's allows you to see if you have cancerous material growing. If they did find cancer doctors can use radiation to kill the cells either way theres no need to fear since its close to the surface of your skin and easily treatable.
Avatar n tn My himalayan has the same growth and when it was smaller I asked my vet and she reassured me that it was probably nothing and to just watch it. It has grown a little in the past few years and she keeps telling me not to worry about it. It is shiny pink and the size of a BB pellet. It is also around her neck.

Avatar m tn Does this sound like anything to worry about? Obviously my biggest fear is some sort of head and neck cancer (I am a 21 year old male, never smoked a cigarette, barely drink alcohol, no history of oral cancer). I do have a plantar wart on my right foot, but I'm not sure if the HPV from that could spread to my throat. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Thanks!

Avatar m tn My daughter is 7 years old and tonight I noticed a knot-like-lump behind her ear on the bone. It looks like a knot you would get if you hit your head on something, but she says she didn't hit her head anytime today or yesterday. It looks normal color-wise and she says it is not sore at all. As a matter of fact, she didn't know it was even there until i pointed it out to her and asked her about it. How can I be sure this isn't a sign of Cancer.
Avatar n tn I have a hard, non-tender lump on the right side of the back of my head down towards my neck. I noticed it in undergrad (4 years ago) and they took blood work. The NP said that my white count (i think) was slightly elevated, and that i probably had a virus lingering around, which would explain the swollen lymph node on the back of my head. It has never gone away. It has been there at least 4 years now. I have lately been SUPER fatigued.
Avatar m tn Whereas in the past, the “face” of head and neck cancer was a man in his 60s with a history of heavy smoking and alcohol consumption, the men diagnosed with HPV oropharyngeal cancer do not smoke heavily and may still be in their 50s or younger, although older men are also affected. Dr. Wirth explains that HPV cancers show a specific pattern as to where they arise.

Avatar f tn Right now, I am emotionally scared that if ever it is cancerous might spread to the other organs like the neck, armpit, bone and the brain if I will wait that long to see Breast Clinic Doctor. I hope you can enlighten me on this matter. Once again, thank you a million times and more power.
Avatar n tn The general term used for babies who can not hold their head up well is head lag. At birth, all babies have head lag. Some control over head movement is reached by 8 weeks so that head lag lessens. By the age of 4-6 months, most babies should be able to hold their head up when pulled by their arms to a seated position. However, there is of course some variation between infants, and some may hold their head up earlier and some a little later.
Avatar f tn Hi all, Has anyone ever heard of breast cancer (IBC or other) spreading up the neck to cause neck, ear, and head pain on that side? I have a swollen axillary node and pain in my breast and up my neck to my ear and head and nobody can figure it out, even breast specialists. Does this sound famiiar to anyone? Thanks so much for any info.
Avatar f tn I have had head fullness, headaches above my forehead and neck stiffness. Now I have a mass on my left tonsil. I am due to see my ENT on Monday.. Its a hard mass by the back of my throat. It blends in with the rest of my throat. I am worried this could be some kind of cancer :-( I am a smoker.. I have been for 12 years. Not heavy, maybe .5 pack a day.
Avatar n tn my face is very fair and even have reddishness on cheeks and neck. But my hands are really dark, almost black in the shade. Am really worried about this skin discoloration.
Avatar f tn I was prescribed anti-depressents which calmed me but the headaches continued. I was then sent for a MRI head and neck scan without dye which came back clear. I have also had a ct scan of bowel and several other tests which again have been ok. I am now feeling sick but my GP will not send me for any more tests. I have a fear of cancer after being diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago which turned out to be a complete mistake.
Avatar n tn They said that it frequently is seen on the back of the neck, but not always. Some of the issues talked about in the web site I sent you about dermatology and diabetes may or may not explain it. Your son is lucky to have a Dad that notices little things and tries to find answers.
Avatar n tn I'm a 14 years old boy. My penis glans turn into black color after my penis neck was removed accidentally like the picture shown below. In my family two people died by cancer. So I'm scared I have cancer too.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes enlarge when there is an infection. The head and neck area have an extensive network of lymph nodes. These lymph nodes function like a filter, and thus increase in size in the presence of infection to filter out organisms. Even with treatment, some lymph nodes remain enlarged. A recurrent infection would further increase the size of the lymph node. However, there are other conditions that can present with lymph node enlargement. Head and neck malignancy is an example.
Avatar f tn You raise a great question, but the jury is still out on this issue. The effects of cellphone radiation on head and neck tumors has not been shown but also not been extensively studied." to my follow up question re 'can we test for this' and could there be a relation to the head jerking, he said: "There's no way to test for this, and I certainly don't think it has any relation to your head jerking." how would you feel?
Avatar m tn i am 26 and noticed inside my foreskin changed color, from dark brown to pink ( like the color of under eyelid). the outside of the foreskin is the same color. there is some hard white patch on the inside of the foreskin and on the frenelum. All of inside the foreskin is white except the rim which is still dark brown. the hypopigmentation is also on the back of the head of the penis, the tip of the penis head. there is also a small hole on the left side of the frenelum that wont close.
Avatar n tn About a week ago I noticed a small bump on my dog's neck, just below where her collar sits. It was just barley raised, but its gotten larger and is now about the size of a pencil eraser, perhaps a bit smaller. It's the same color as her skin and is a little darker around the edges. Seems to be filled with puss or something. She is a five year old Yorki poo and doesn't seem to be acting any different, and the bumps doesn't seem to bother her. And ideas as to what it could be?
