Avatar n tn I am a strict vegetarian, although I go vegan as much as possible. I work two jobs and go to college, so I am on the move a good bit, but I try to exercise when I have spare time. If anyone has any dieting tips, recipes, excersise tips, or anything else, feel free to comment!
Avatar n tn Try Frances Moore Lappe's Diet for a Small Planet and Recipes for a Small Planet. She talks about balanced proteins and how to get them from plant-based diets. The idea is that one needs to have not just a legume, but a legume and a grain together in the dish, to give a balanced protein. If you are a vegetarian for animal-cruelty reasons, add eggs and cheese to your diet. I was a vegetarian for a long time but I ate fish and poultry when I was pregnant.

Avatar f tn Want to transition to a vegetarian diet! I am a type1 diabetic for 36yrs and this disease degenerates. What supplementation should I embark to maintain a balance nutritious way to eat?
Avatar n tn I have started a heart healthy diet. This means I eat nothing but organic vegetables. I am pretty much a vegetarian now. I do eat some fish and chicken breast on occasion though. There are recipes galore on the internet. I mainly stick to the heart healthy and liver healthy recipes. It is a bit more expensive, but I have lost almost 20 lbs. in less than 3 weeks. This is not water weight either! I have cut out all sugar, salt, dairy, wheat, cocoa, and caffeine out of my diet.
1201598 tn?1265473722 You are going to have to work a little harder to get that protein in but it can be done. Do your homework and study up on a vegetarian lifestyle. Some ways you can get protein is soy, nuts and beans. My teenage daughter wanted to be a vegetarian for a few years so I had to learn how to cook vegetarian. She's not doing it so much anymore but I still use soy, like the soy crumbles in soups or the firm tofu in veggie stir fries. She also likes the Boca burgers, which is a soy burger.

Avatar f tn I'm 15 and a little over weight. I'm not huge not overweight enough to be very unconfident and nervous around people. I'm vegetarian and I need some new low calorie recipes. Please help; exercises that work well would be nice too.
4628530 tn?1369109086 Hi! So I've done a lot of juicing and have changed my diet somewhat, and have been reading about anti-inflammatory foods. I learned that the paleo diet excludes many of these foods, but am not sure because of all the red meat. I'm all out of ideas, hungry, and breastfeeding. For those of you that have found some relief by changing your diet, what do your typical meals look like ( breakfast, lunch, dinner)? Any good recipes?
Avatar n tn You can specify vegan recipes. The majority of their recipes are vegetarian, but if you take it one step further and go for the vegan recipes, you'll be able to avoid the dairy and the eggs. Or, look at the vegetarian recipes that call for milk and substitute with the rice milk. I would suggest going easy on the eggs, eventhough they're not actually dairy. Your daughter isn't allergic to them, because eggs aren't from lactating mammals.
Avatar f tn I have been a vegetarian for 17 years and am happy with that. However, sometimes I feel low in energy, especially as I often stand/am constantly on my feet for long hours at work. What's the best way to give myself the energy I need for those 10-14 hour work days? I find it hard to get motivated in the morning so need something to energize me for breakfast and then continually throughout the day. I love cooking and smoothies and would rather eat real food over taking supplements.

You really can't just eat beans you should look up vegetarian recipes. Aslo supplement with collagen the ligaments in meat have collagen. Its been proven that vegetarians tear more during delivery because of low collagen intake.
1085545 tn?1284042254 I am also a vegetarian and found I had to make some drastic changes in my diet, but I am now able to eat a variety of foods and enjoy cooking again. What you need to reduce is your intake of carbs. If you are used to eating a large amount of rice (for me the problem was pasta) you will have to change that.
1051017 tn?1349636853 i am a vegetarian and im wondering if anyone out there can give me some good recipe ideas for when i do eventually get pregnant? im not vegan but i do struggle to eat well. any ideas?
Avatar f tn This pregnancy has got me hating meat, i've only had it a handful of times since even before i found out. I've been fixing separate vegetarian meals while i fix those with meat for my fiance and son. I'm still doing eggs and cheeses, no milk as I have never drabk milk. Only almond, rice and soy milk. My question is, is it dangerous in anyway to my baby to do such a drastic diet change such as completely cutting meat out during pregnancy? I'm 10 weeks 4 days, and 22 years old.

Avatar f tn About a year and a half ago I took a hormone called hcg sublingually for weight loss purposes. After wards I began to suffer terrible symptoms such as bone pain, pain everywhere, tingling, numbness, and loss if sensation through out my body. The diet also suggests that you eat less than 800 calories a day. I should also add that I was a vegetarian for 3 years before then, but began eating fish around the time of the diet.
Avatar f tn Hi I am currently 28 weeks pregnant and found out I have gallstones. They have told me to eat a fat free and dairy freediet for the next 12 weeks when iI will be checked again as surgery whilst I'm pregnant is risky. I am having a really hard time coming up with recipes and options to fill myself up, so far nothing I make had any flavour and it is putting me off eating. Does anyone have any recipes they could share?
Avatar n tn Very classy for her to call it a vegetarian diet. Actually it is a junk food diet. Who ever heard of a vegetarian diet that omitted fruit and vegetables! What you have is a very lazy sister. And she is going to have one unhealthy child.
915369 tn?1355314810 Hey everyone! I was diagnosed with Crohn's about a year ago, and have since then been on a few medications and have settled on Imuran. Now, I have no complaints about my doctor, he's actually fairly good at what he does and he goes out of his way to help me and all his other patients but I find he doesn't have the time to really go in depth with my questions.
