Avatar f tn m just wondering if anybody has anything to share about there postpartum sex life. Did it hurt the first time u had sex after delivery? Did you wait the first 6 weeks? Is your sex life better than before the baby? Etc. I'm curious because during the last few weeks of my pregnancy my husband & I didn't get to make love often & now I'm really looking forward to making love again, I'm just afraid it might be painful or not as good. Any advice or experiences??

8762956 tn?1406304757 Anywhere from two to six weeks is considered normal postpartum bleeding. Sex can usually resume within four to six weeks depending on your provider and how you're feeling. Depends on whether or not your tear, if you delivered vaginally or via c section, etc.
Avatar f tn You're an adult, you're not going to get in trouble for having sex before the doctor gives you the all clear there are just a lot of con's to having sex before the 6 week check.
Avatar f tn I had sex 3 weeks after having my son it was a little uncomfortable so we took or slow but a week later it felt better than before I was pregnant all it took was tying a few times to get used to it
Avatar f tn Just curious when you have a Csection do you still have to wait six weeks before the ok to have sex? This will be my first Csection after three vaginal deliveries.
Avatar n tn m a FTM and these past few weeks have gone by so quickly having a newborn I want to return to work as soon as possible to help out with expenses. Hopefully the following week after my exam. Have anyone had to stay out of work longer? Also how soon can I expect to be able to have sex again after healing? 6 weeks doesn't seem to be long enough to me. All new to me anything helps as I am getting anxious.
Avatar n tn Are you asking how long you should wait before having sex after having stitches? Because sure stitches dissolve fairly quickly but the tissue damage will last longer than that. Six weeks minimum is your best bet, you should have a postpartum appointment with your provider about then and you can talk to them about how your healing is going and whether your body is prepared yet at that point.

9650087 tn?1409135110 I had sex before my 6 weeks more than once i feel very sick lately but wanna know if its possibly pregnancy symptoms or just hormones having mixed feelings
Avatar f tn agree with above statement. also you are typically told to hold off on sex for 4 to 6 weeks postpartum to allow everything to heal. you are likely to be bleeding for about that amount of time after delivery.
Avatar f tn If you feel up for it go for it. My baby is 5 weeks old now n I couldn't wait the whole "6weeks"... We had sex at 2 1/2 weeks postpartum. Everything went well, I did tear but only had one stich. I made sure I was healed up before we did it tho. Make sure u use protection tho, ur super fertile.
Avatar f tn Most doctors recommend no sex for six weeks. So you have probably tried too early. Especially for a cesarean.
Avatar f tn these are good questions for your dr. but the general rule is six weeks postpartum before any sex to heal ( you typically have a good amount of bleeding after delivery that can last 4 weeks) and your cervix needs to shrink again to protect and prevent infection. And im pretty sure you shouldn't be birth control if breastfeeding. im a ftm but im going off of what ive read, my midwife has said and information from friends.
Avatar f tn (my Dr does 3 and 6 week check ups) and she was OK with it as long as I was using protection. I would say you are safe to try it.. I have had three children and sex before 6 weeks with all of them and didn't get an infection.
Avatar f tn It takes six weeks for you to heal after having a baby but more like 12wks for your uterus to fully retutn to normal. It coulf be your uterus recovering. But if you're worried, wait a couple of weeks and do a test.
Avatar f tn Some women who are exclusively breastfeeding don't go back to a regular cycle for six months or more after childbirth, and some start up again as early as 4-6 weeks postpartum. Every woman's hormones will react differently after each birth. I personally didn't have a period for over two years after my son was born. - I had the Mirena IUD placed at my six-week postpartum appointment.
