Avatar f tn Its not safe to shoot a gun with a lot of kick pregnant. My husband bought me a shot gun as a suprise and I haven't be able to shoot it!
Avatar n tn Well, it was kind of a "gun" that they shoot with a needle attached; I do not know what it is called exactly, but it really shoots the needle into you.
Avatar f tn I work in occupational safety and health field. There was a question about firing practice at gun ranges during pregnancy last week. I posted some recommendations to prevent lead exposure to pregnant mom's and fetus. Based on an article in Seattle Times, October 19, 2014 "Loaded With Lead" I personally will no longer be visiting a firing range during pregnancy, and hope other pregnant mom's will do the same. Children in general are more susceptible to lead posioning.
424839 tn?1268186246 I started teaching gun safety to my kids at a young age. I think it's very important. If every gun owner taught their children gun safety there wouldn't be nearly as many accidents. It seems that whenever you hear about a child accidentally discharging a gun and injury another child it is usually from some city folk that only has one gun and thought they had it hidden. You rarely here it being a child of a hunter who owns many guns.
Avatar m tn v=MeGD7r6s-zU This is a video we had the opportunity to watch at the last class I took. The class had a more to do with gun handling and safety than anything else, but it did also cover some tactical things... Any matter, here's it what complacency can get you. Now make sure you are listening to this guy. He is the authority on guns and gun handling. I'm pretty sure he states that right up front.
480448 tn?1426948538 I've posted a photo of the letter we received from the district outlining the changes to be put in place following the Sandy Hook tragedy. I apologize if it's hard to read, plus I edited out names for privacy purposes. I am actually shocked the district was so quick to implement these changes, and I'm pleased. I don't think the gun debate should have anything to do with what each school district decides to implement for their children's safety.
1530342 tn?1405016490 When my children were small, we had guns. My hubby had a gun cabinet for his collection with a lock on it and he kept the key hidden. I would say a small safe with a lock might be a good idea, but kept in the bedroom closet maybe? We always kept one behind a false wall in the bedroom master closet where we slept. No one was allowed in our room and it was an off limits area in general.
Avatar f tn A seven-year-old boy was shot to death when his father’s handgun went off in the parking lot of a western Pennsylvania gun store. The boy, Craig Loughrey, was settling into his safety seat in the back of his father’s car when the gun accidentally went off and pierced his chest, reports the Associated Press. The boy died at the scene. Joseph Loughrey, 44, had gone to the gun store to sell a rifle and his 9mm handgun but the owner wasn’t interested, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.
Avatar m tn Not to be left out, Ted Cruz joined the fear mongering with his statement to the NRA attendees that “if Hillary Clinton is going to join with Barack Obama and the gun grabbers and come after our guns, then what I say is come and take it.” Just the concept of “gun grabbing” makes me laugh. After all, Congress couldn’t even muster the votes needed in 2013 to pass universal background checks for gun purchasers and that had the support of 90 percent of Americans.
1530342 tn?1405016490 Tjq3o2Hf0UM Virginia Tech, site of a 2007 mass shooting, issued a campus lockdown Thursday after a man with a gun was possibly spotted on campus. NBC affiliate WSLS confirmed that the campus siren system had been activated and all people on campus had been asked to remain indoors. The university issued an alert on its website at 9:37 a.m. Thursday telling students and employees to stay inside and secure doors.
Avatar f tn The other day I asked him to draw a picture of the way he sees his dad and he drew a picture of his dad asleep and his thing out of his pants with a bullet hole in his chest his step moms picture had a gun and said I would never see you again with my son's name. She's saying die his father's name and divorce papers in her hand with a gun in the other hand **** in my ex husband.
4368956 tn?1357406071 I can say with absolute certainty that if you feel better with it, and it's in a locked gun safe, you should absolutely have it. We have several firearms in our gun safe.
Avatar f tn My uncle, who I'm not close with, got our daughter a gun. A pretty pink one. Honesty the same one my husband wanted to get her. (We are a family of hunters and sports men). My husband was pretty upset because he wanted to get her her first gun.
Avatar m tn NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. (AP) — Ernest Satterwhite was a laid-back former mechanic with a habit of ignoring police officers who tried to pull him over — an act of defiance that ultimately got him killed. The 68-year-old black great-grandfather was shot to death after a slow-speed chase as he parked in his own driveway, by a 25-year-old white police officer who repeatedly fired through the driver's side door.
Avatar f tn I was gonna say something along the lines of an alarm system that will automatically contact police when someone tries to enter the home.. jeez you guys are violent lol jk. But I wouldn't want a gun in the house with children, locked up or not they could get to it eventually and that freaks me out. A bat wouldnt be a bad idea though.
Avatar f tn I have researched and see that some pediatricians recommend Melatonin to help with sleeplessness in children with certain neurological disorders. That is fine and well, but I do not agree with giving my child a medication that I don't see he needs and his pediatrician has not ordered. So here's my question: is it unsafe for a child to *intermittently* take Melatonin? There are many drugs out there that are not OK to 'start and stop'. Is Melatonin one of them?
1530342 tn?1405016490 I think a lot of the other measures that are not directly associated with gun regulation, like tracking statistics, more work with children at risk, and more education are all great things. I DO totally get what brice and vance are saying in terms of not being able to prevent a mass shooting...and not being able to prevent criminals from obtaining guns...I DO get that...but I think it will help in some way...but sadly, there is no way to really know...
4182046 tn?1355820039 Tkenna that is hilarious....and yeah that is my problem. Never had been around them and it terrifies me to start now that I have kids. I don't know anything about the safety so I can imagine trying to teach my kids something I have no clue about. Yeah I believe guns don't kill people stupid people with them do...
3211536 tn?1359385569 The other accidental discharge came from a person hopping out of a car with a loaded hunting rifle. (Gun should not have been loaded, gun should have been on safety.) The safeguard that was in place is that the barrel was pointed down, away from anyone. The gun discharged when the person hopped out of the vehicle. No injuries.... more importantly, no death.
Avatar m tn Target practice, anyone? A responsible gun owner would know how to shoot properly.
Avatar f tn If you choose to own a gun, that is certainly your right, however with children in the house I personally feel they need to be locked up tight. Children think they are simply playing and something like this happens.
