Hi there, An impacted wisdom tooth can give rise to pain or tenderness of gums, jaw ache, redness and swelling of gums around the tooth, swollen lymph nodes and difficulty opening the mouth. The symptoms you have been having could possibly be due to any bacterial or viral illness.Tonsillitis, flu; otitis media all can give rise to these symptoms. I will advise you to seek the opinion of a doctor and get evaluated. You may need an ENT examination. Do keep me posted. Best wishes and regards!
When I looked at it, the tooth or gum (I can't tell what it is and I'm afraid to touch it) is a dark grey color. My gums around the area are extremely red and there is a dark spot which might be part of the tooth. My inner cheek has a white line around where the tooth is. I have been taking tramadol for pain and antibiotics incase there is an infection. I am wondering if anyone knows what is going on with this or has ever heard of anything like this.
It is almost a week now when the lower back part of my right gum started to get swollen. I saw a small teeth coming out from the end (probably the wisdom tooth) and the pain is turning from severe to fair. Right now, the gums are still swollen, and I'm beginning to have gum sores (which is treated using oral anti-septic), but the pain is bearable. As much as possible, I wouldn't want the tooth to be extracted, although it is unknown until when will the gums swell.
I suggest that you go to the dentist to check it out and more than likely he/she will also want to extract the tooth. Most people like myself once the wisdom teeth start breaking through the gums we get them extratced because they cause nothing but problems and get pulled out anyway. So please see the dentist because if you have an infection and it is not taken care of properly you can cause alot of probelms and especially with your sinuses.
However, my cheek (on my jawline) is still swollen and puffy (not hard, just puffy), as are the gums around the extraction site and the tooth adjacent to the extraction site. When I brush around the wound, the wound itself does not bleed, but the gums beside it do bleed (minimally) and I'm scared. I had my tooth pulled at a dental school and because the tooth was "hooked", it took 2 students and 1 OS resident over 2 hours to get the tooth out. Needless to say, it was a rough surgery.
a feww weeks ago my left side began to get sore again, well this time my upper gums around my wiisdom tooth and gums became very painful , and red and swollen. but agian the pain subsided. Then a few days ago it felt like there was food stuck between my gum and wisdom tooth i felt back there and i could feel like a mushy blister above my wisdom tooth. i looked at it and it was white and raised.
Yesterday I woke up with my bottom right wisdom tooth sore and the tissue around it swollen. My right ear and scalp are also very sensitive to the touch. If either are touched or move, they hurt a lot. I also get what feels like ear ache pain on the right side whenever I swallow. Is a nerve being compressed or does this sound like an infection?
I've had this for a week now where the gums around my wisdom tooth are swollen. so far, it doesnt hurt that much. i went to the dentist and he prescribe me some antibiotics such as amoxicillin and ibuprofen and help with the infection and pain. i've been taking it for 4 days now and the infection is still there. the ibuprofen does help with the pain. yesterday, my throat started to hurt pretty badly and i was scared that this meant the infection was spreading. but the pain come and goes.
The extraction site itself seems to healing fine, but the gums around the tooth next to it are swollen and very sore. The dentist put me on antibiotics (ees), but after 4 days, the swelling and pain are no better. The dentist said the swelling was just trauma from the extraction, and not to worry, just keep taking meds. I'm worried because, as I said, the pain and swelling are still present, and I would think that after 4 days, the swelling wouls start to go down.
We were taking pano on each other and I noticed that I had a radiolucent area around the apex of tooth #19. This tooth had root canal done 3 years ago and I got a nice crown on it too. I visited my dentist regurlaly. I had no pain or discomfort prior to the pano that we took on Nov 18. Since then, I visited my dentist and he told me it is an abscess. I started the Amoxicillin on monday, I also noticed that I had a throbbing pain since last sunday.Well...
Would this attract HIV like a genital with an STD? I have loose gums around my wisdom teeth and before I became aware that the teeth had become inflamed, I deeply kissed a guy of unknown status. He may not have had the best oral hygiene either.
Hi - I was at the doctor two weeks ago because I had an infection around my wisdom tooth (periodontist I believe it's called). I had this a few years ago so I knew what it was immediately. The doctor put me on amoxicillian and it feels all better. However, about a week ago I started getting a few small sores around the gums on the other side of my mouth. I thought maybe I was just getting canker sores (had these before too).
Im currently on the waiting list to have all 4 removed) Yesterday the gums around the tooth became very sore and I woke up last night to discover that the gum had swollen and there was alot of pain which is effecting all the gum up to the tonsil on the left side of my mouth. So I was just wondering if anyone could let me know if HIV ARS can effect already existing mouth problems? Is it possible for things already happening in the mouth to become worse as HIV ARS is starting to take effect?
It sounds like you have pericornitis, which is an inflammation of the gums around the impacted tooth. The impacted tooth makes cleaning difficult so food tends to get stuck in there and cause an infection. I would go to ER immediately since its spreading down into the neck region and impacting your ability to swallow. It can continue to spread and impact your ability to breathe also which is life threatening. You should be placed on antibiotics and get that tooth out as soon as possible.
I would say my first instinctive guess would be that its a bad wisdom tooth or an infection of the gums around the wisdom tooth that's causing his swelling. You should take your boyfriend to his dentist for an evaluation before it gets worse. Any type of swelling is always cause for concern. You don't want to swelling to get bigger or spread to other places.
It sounds like you have what we call pericornitis which is an infection of the gums around your wisdom tooth. A cleaning may remedy the situation temporarily but you may be prone to getting another infection in the future.
Update, I am still tinkering around with Heme in the 10.5, it rallied for a couple weeks 10.7 then a wopping 11. 15 week PCR is 5000, at 12 weeks I was 19000. Insurance company okayed another 8 months of tx. I see the Dr. on Tuesday we are going to talk about adding a drug to work on the NASH. I am not working now and hope to level off soon. I miss my job.. Spent last week chasing around for an oral surgeon. Started on Amoxioillin, it didn't touch the swelling.
I was eating strawberries the other day and I believe that a small seed got stuck in my gums behind my right wisdom tooth on the bottom. This has happened before with popcorn, but the offending particles easily came out and the swelling went down. Now, whatever is stuck there is pretty well stuck. My gum is swollen pretty badly and it's starting to get pretty painful.
My gums around my upper right wisdom tooth are swollen. It really doesn't hurt, just swelling that comes and goes. Is it normal for them to swell if say the tooth is just shifting it's position?
That is actually what I always wanted-- to experience NO Pain anymore. We are also the same that we have swollen gum around the back tooth. I am really suffering now. I wanted to ease the pain but I dont know how. Many people are trying to make me avoid tooth extraction..
Hello everyone. I had a tooth and wisdom tooth removed 4 days ago and my nerve was in the middle of the root of my wisdom tooth. Needless to say the nerve was stretched so i have numbness in my chin and lip on the left side along with my gum. The weird thing is the left corner of my mouth is not numb. The surgeon stated on time would tell. I was already taking B-12 so was happy to read that it might help. i do have the itching creep crawly, burning sensation.
I WAS HAVING SHARP PAINS EVERYTIME I TOUCHED THE LOWER BACK TOOTH. (NOT WISDOM TOOTH) DENTIST STARTED PULLING TOOTH AND I COULD FEEL IT SO SHE GAVE ME MORE SHOTS. IT WAS LIKE THE TOOTH WAS HARD TO COME OUT. I WAS SENT HOME WITH PAIN MEDS. SINCE THEN THE PLACE WHERE THE TOOTH WAS PULLED, IS HEALING BUT GUMS ARE STILL SWOLLEN AND JAWBONE HURTS. WHY AM I STILL HURTING?
With my tongue I can feel a fairly hard lump in the location where my wisdom tooth would have been. (Removed all four wisdom teeth 25 years ago....I'm 43 now). Please help!!! Any ideas?? I can't see the periodontist until next month. Oral cancer? HPV? Thank you for taking the time to read this.
It's been over 2 months so far with my tongue being swollen, I just had my bad tooth pulled out a little over a week ago. I am still waiting to see if my tongue comes down. Good luck to all. Anyone with info you can contact me at Lasin007 at hotmail.
I had a routine wisdom tooth extraction performed on Mon the 23rd for the lower left wisdom tooth. Dentist used a local, and the extraction took approximately 5 mnutes. The tooth presented through the gums and was relatively straight.( Removed due to crowding lower front teeth) Dentist commented that the root appeared ice cream cone shaped and anticipated an easy extraction.
it seems to be coming from inflammation in the back-bottom-right gum area (where the wisdom tooth used to be). It never got hugely inflamed, and there was never anything I’d describe as serious pain. But the inflammation tended to fluctuate, and it would usually be inflamed enough so it rubbed on the top of my mouth and on my tongue. Sometimes it almost felt like a blister that wouldn’t pop. Finally, around January or February 2009, I noticed two enlarged submandibular lymph nodes.
