Common Questions and Answers about Gum infection wisdom

infection

Avatar m tn The abscess was caused by food that got into a pocket between his erupting wisdom tooth and gum (the gum got cleaned out). He was never unable to open his mouth or talk, so far no swollen lymph nodes or anything like that. His dentist originally said the infection was "minor" but I can't help but feel that it's a LOT more than minor if his cheek got irritated.
Avatar n tn My wisdom tooth has been coming out and recently the gum started to swell up and now it's over the only piece that had come out. It's a bump and has red dots. It started 3 days ago. and now my head hurts and my ear that is on the same side of my swollen gum hurts as well. is this normal for wisdom teeth? if not what could it be?
Avatar n tn Is it definately an infection? or could it just be irritated because the other wisdom tooth on the opposite side is now trying to make its way through my gum? as for sinus problems, how bad can they be? Your comment was really helpful, thank you.
Avatar m tn Wisdom tooth can cause some risky dental issues such as pericoronitis, tooth decay, gum disease, periapical infection, etc. Also it can damage the structure of the jawbone. So, don’t delay and contact dentist as soon as possible. Treatment: • Extraction of wisdom tooth. • Radiotherapy. • Reconstruction surgery for impacted jawbone. Sometimes, the wisdom tooth is deeply embedded in the jawbone and its roots are too close to main nerve.
Avatar m tn I have a wisdom tooth that is completely under the gum. It feels like it has either broken or maybe turned sideways. It has been bleeding a tiny bit but not a lot, can this lead to an infection......serious illness?
Avatar m tn Though my wisdom teeth have started growing, they have not yet grown past the gum (I am 20 years old). My right side is fine. Is this a result of my wisdom teeth growing even further? Or is it an infection? I cannot close my mouth without biting into it and I think the blood may have come from me biting down in my sleep. I can't even eat without tearing up. The adjacent molar also aches, and I am scared that if it was an infection that it may be spreading. Any insight would be appreciated!
Avatar n tn My new dentist informed that the all of my upper teeth had to be removed re infection, now all the teeth that had deep pockets on my lower right side have been all removed wisdom and 12 year old moler, my alarms really went off when it was Jan 9th and I would be finishing my Clarithromycin on the 12th and the closes date to pull that tooth was Jan 26th.
Avatar n tn I often have gum soreness around the teeth and sometimes bite the gums. Other than the gum problems, I have no pain or problems with the wisdom teeth. I broke one wisdom tooth several years ago and had it pulled. Of the 3 remaining teeth two have fillings, one of which is failing and needs replacing. Does it make sense to have them removed now, when I'm not having a problem with the teeth themselves?
Avatar f tn I also got my wisdom tooth pulled out because I was getting an infection, I was already 4 months but they said if I had an infection it could lead to premature birth and the infection could get to my baby so I got it pulled, I didn't need antibiotics or pain medication after, and I am glad I did it because it could've been worse
Avatar m tn hi, i had unprotected oral sex and then unprotected boob job with a sex worker before 3 and half months ago after that event say four days i had severe abdominal pain and it was so horrible i need to call the ambulance and the doctors had done ct scan and detected a kidney stone of mm and in the blood there was a infection the wbc count was 18.5(4.0-10.
Avatar f tn Okay so I have a gum infection around my wisdom tooth, pericoronitis. i've been on antibiotics, amoxicillin for 3 days now and not much has changed. my throat is starting to hurt so im scared the infection is spreading. i dont have dental insurance so i dont want to remove the tooth unless its the last resort. I want to get a operculectomy to remove the gums and hopefully it'll solve the infection. if it comes back, then i will really consider getting the tooth out.
Avatar f tn I've been on antibiotics 3 X, every time I'm done, infection comes back, even after tooth extraction. Please see details below, I need your opinion. Thank You... Started with Left sore throat, then Gum Pain & hard white painful bump near #17 wisdom tooth. Got severe, hard to swallow, chew, painful. My reg. Dentist Rx'd Amoxicillin - took 6 days to start working. After swelling went down, did x-ray, he could not find any problem -tooth not abcessed.
Avatar n tn My upper right wisdom tooth has broken off, almost completely to the gum line. It's slightly rough at the surface of the gum. No pain or infection. I've gotten two different opinions - one is to leave it alone (for now), the other is that it is better to extract it now. Is it a good idea to have it extracted when it is not causing any current probem? Gum sometimes gets slightly irritated if I chew on it a lot. Your opinions would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Avatar f tn My husband is 21 and the dentist says he needs his wisdom teeth taken out. They are not impacted but they are growing in crooked and will not grow out all the way and are causing a bacteria build up. If we wait until they all pierce through the skin can he simply get them pulled and not have oral surgery.
Avatar n tn I have 24 teeth total. There is no wisdom tooth showing or appearing to be coming in. I am almost 22 years old. I have never had a wisdom tooth come in. I'm worried what it may be because i don't see a tooth, i'm thinking the worst that there's a rotten tooth inside my gum. Please someone help.
Avatar m tn he suggest if i extract the tooth beside the wisdom tooth (which is like only half expose from the gum), that might give the wisdom tooth space to grow, thus relieving the pain...so i did... After a week or so, the wound is ok and the gum starts to grow back... just when it seems like everything is going fine....i felt pain again... the pain was not from the wound area..it seems to come from the 2-3 teeths beside the extracted tooth... the pain was like inside the gum...
Avatar f tn On my lower left jaw I see a hole in my gum where my wisdom tooth should be. It looks like there is black liquid in the hole. I'm extremely tired all the time. My left eye wants to stay shut. I'm having trouble walking. I can't lay on my back without having breathing problems. I'm having a high heart beat. And I'm just starting to droll a little bit. I can't eat solid food without nausea and throwing up. I have a mental fog. My eyesight in my left eye is getting worse.
Avatar n tn The dentist changed my antibiotic to something stronger and cleaned out the area a bit. On Saturday after Thanksgiving I was in the dental chair again. My gum around the area was so swollen and sore. Felt like infection was trying to get out somewhere. The dentist opened up the extraction site, cleaned it out, packed it and told me to continue with antibiotics. I was in excruciating pain after the numbing wore off but the next day was better and the swelling seemed to be gone.
Avatar f tn and infection, and I noticed I had a small sore were my wisdom tooth used to be. Over three days the infection has gotten much worse. It's a constant ache in my jaw, and is very painful to open my mouth or chew. the area is hot, very swollen, and tastes kinda like blood. It's getting a little hard to eat because everything on that side of my mouth hurts as well, tongue, throat ect.
Avatar f tn My wisdom tooth on my left side has started to hurt really bad it also bleeds alot now and on my Right it looks like my gum is starting to get infected it has this white bubble sitting on top of it I asked my mom and she said she wouldn't suggest getting them pulled after the baby is born is there any one who can help I need some opinions bought getting them pulled / or what you used to stop the pain Thank you in advance
Avatar f tn Four days after extraction I started feeling a salty taste in mouth. I went back to the dentist who diagnosed a gum infection to the side of the extraction site. Amoxicillin was prescribed as well as Peridex. The gum infection subsided and following a second visit, the dentist said the infection was now controlled. I have however, when I press the gum on the side of the extraction site a very bad pus smell coming up from the right nostril, other than that I do not have any other symptoms.
Avatar f tn I have an impacted wisdom tooth on lower right side and a slight gum infection according to my doctor. I recently noticed my cheek is swollen and my neck. My ear hurts occasionally and last week I actually got sick and my throat hurt very bad. I also noticed a lymph node on my trapezius muscle between my ear and my shoulder. Can my wisdom tooth be causing all this? Please help I am very stressed about this. I am a hypochondriac so that doesn't help. Going to dentist tomorrow to see.
Avatar n tn I have all four wisdom teeth and have never had a problem, there was enough room for them all to come in without bothering any other teeth. On the top two, they are both broken in half. Until now, neither has given me any problem. My husbands work insurance is coming in in a month so I will be getting my teeth taken care of but until then I have a problem. On my left upper side, it was excrutiatingly painful, the gum around the tooth was swelling, there was pus/blood, and excess saliva.
Avatar f tn I did call my dentist however his currently not in til next week, he told me to use mouth wash and take antibiotics which thankful i am already on as i have a vaginal infection. The gum is fully covering the back wisdom tooth its been like this for years neevr have gaven me this much trouble.
Avatar f tn I hade my lower wisdom teeth out due to an infection in the gums covering my wisdom teeth. I was given two different kinds of antibiotics before I got my wisdom teeth out. The antibiotics did not clear the infection up and the dentist that removed #17 and #34 stated he removed the gums with the infection on them and I wouldn't have to worry about it. lt has been four weeks and the rotten, bitter taste is back indicating my infection is back, or never really left.
Avatar m tn This would lead to infection because part of my lower wisdom teeth is covered by gum and/or has pockets behind them. I wanted the teeth removed because I didn't want them to move my teeth anymore. But I was quoted over a grand to remove all 4 teeth. Needless to say at this point in time I can't afford it. At the same time the teeth don't bother me (yet) and the damage is pretty much done in terms of movement/crowding.
