Common Questions and Answers about Gum infection spread

infection

Avatar f tn Usually tooth infection takes a very long time and has to spread to neighboring gum area to spread to blood vessels and cause infection. However this can be painful, can cause exposed roots and cause persistent infection. Hence consult a dentist immediately. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn The longer you wait, the more risk you take with an abscess and the lower the success of your treatment as the infection will spread and cause further harm.
Avatar n tn In all probability he had a dental infection below the tooth that has the silver filling. This infection has spread to jaws and gum. Other than this he could also be having a gum infection, an infection of the skin of face, a boil or abscess or infection of the jaw bone. It is difficult to diagnose this on net. Please consult his pediatrician and his dentist as soon as possible (read immediately!). Meanwhile please give him acetaminophen to make the pain tolerable. Take care!

Avatar m tn So I guess - 5 weeks of these burning sensations and this week the rash developed - are these indicative of a fungal infection (this is quite common?) - and should I start believeing the things the GUM and Dr are telling me.
Avatar f tn These problems can cause openings in the tooth enamel, which allows bacteria to infect the center of the tooth (called the pulp). The infection may also spread from the root of the tooth to the bones supporting the tooth.
Avatar n tn recently I had an ulcer on the base of my gum and on the gum a little. I did have cold sore recently but I am very careful. So when I found this I freak out. Now when I use a flashlight to inspect my mouth I can see tiny, tiny pimples on the roof and the back of my throat. I on't if they are normal but I am really upset. Can they spread down my throat, can they spread inside of my mouth? I always heard that you can only get recurrent herpes on your lips not anywhere else.
Avatar n tn Also the sinus infection caused very watery orange discharge from the sinus cavities and flow when I bent my head down. I had a sinus infection and gum infection at the same time. I took Amoxicillin for a week and it all cleared up.
Avatar m tn It is probable that a gum infection may have spread to your throat and body. Gums usually swell when some foreign particle gets trapped inside.
Avatar f tn Its much better than leaving a possible infection and letting it spread further and causing more harm and injury.
Avatar m tn Theoreticlly, dental infection can spread to distant organ or tissue through hematogenous route. However, the incidence is rare.
Avatar m tn However, last week I went to the dentist who told me that I apparently have an infection in my first molar/gum area. I had my wisdom teeth removed four months ago and it looks like the gum and bone tissue have not fully filled in yet which I guess created a space for an infection to form. I am worried that I might have had this infection at the time of my incident, and if so, do you think this would warrant getting an HIV test? Did it make a big difference in terms of risk?
Avatar f tn If you wait, and it is an infection, eventually the fistula will get larger and the infection will spread to the periodontal ligament and bone. The ligament carries the bacteria to the next tooth and the infection slowly and ( this is the worst part) PAINLESSLY to the next tooth. This is periodontal disease. It is silent and painless. Eventually, the bone around the tooth dissolves and the tooth starts to wiggle.
Avatar n tn spread of the infection to sinus cavities, ears and other vital areas plus spread of the lymphatic system and septicaemia.
Avatar m tn Nobody seems to be acting like this is an emergency, but I keep feeling like he is going to have the infection spread to his bone and kill him. Is this totally irrational on my part? Does he need to get wisdom teeth removed ASAP to avoid death?
Avatar f tn Swelling gum means you have gum problem or what we call gingivitis... poor oral hygiene cause gingivitis, but in your case, if the crown was bad, like overhanged or undersized there would be a problem, cause this crown may harbor bacteria in the gingival line (gum line) which cause inflammation of the gingiva (gum). The treatment for your case may be replacement of the crown plus proper oral hygiene...
Avatar n tn I had a gum infection about a month ago and the dentist put me on antibiotics and i took the full course. I thought that had got rid of the infection because i didn't have the vile taste in my mouth that i had. I worrying today because i can taste the taste i had when i had the infection. The other day i kissed and was intimate with a man and i thought it had cleared so i didn't worry about the infection that day.

Avatar n tn Go to the doctor immediatley. Have them test for sepsis (blood poisoning). I would suspect, from the symptoms you've listed, that your gum infection has spread to your blood stream. I am having your symptoms, plus some...
Avatar f tn 7 months ago, i had unprotected receptive oral sex with my ex boyfriend who declares he is hiv negative. The concern is i do have gum disease. It has been treated. Behind my bottom front teeth my gums are permanent receded due to loss of bone. My tongue covers it though. I had no sores or cuts in my mouth. Should i take a hiv test? What are the chances I have hiv? I did wash out my mouth with listerine after wards.
Avatar n tn Just because the fistula/bump is gone doesn't mean the infection is gone. I'm not a dentist, but I'm a dental assistant (9 years) and I guarantee the bump will eventually come back, it's not good to have that infection in your body(pregnant or not). You need to do whatever dental work your dentist recommended, just let them know you are pregnant so they don't use nitrous. Just my opinion....good luck!!
