Common Questions and Answers about Gum infection in babies

infection

Avatar n tn I had a gum infection about a month ago and the dentist put me on antibiotics and i took the full course. I thought that had got rid of the infection because i didn't have the vile taste in my mouth that i had. I worrying today because i can taste the taste i had when i had the infection. The other day i kissed and was intimate with a man and i thought it had cleared so i didn't worry about the infection that day.
Avatar f tn I was put on Amoxicillin and a root canal was performed on June 23, two days later an incision was made in the gum to clean out some of the infection, the next day a small hole was made in the upper gum to try and drain some of the infection. On July 1st I was sent to an oral surgeon who did a panoramic of my face and there was infection the size of a walnut up into my sinus. He put me on Augmentin and on July 8th he pulled the tooth.
Avatar f tn I did call my dentist however his currently not in til next week, he told me to use mouth wash and take antibiotics which thankful i am already on as i have a vaginal infection. The gum is fully covering the back wisdom tooth its been like this for years neevr have gaven me this much trouble.
Avatar f tn I have shared drinks, gum and tasted candy and stuff with them. And now Im in tears thinking about how easily I could have spread this nastyness to my babies. How likely is it that I have already infected them?
Avatar f tn I had a root canal in one of my lower molars some years ago, and recently the gum around it became inflamed. I went for my normal check-up and the dentist said that it was infected and prescribed antibiotics (I finished the prescribed course). She also told me to brush three times a day. I went back the next week, as the filling fell out of it, and she said that it was looking better, re-filled the tooth and recommended Corsodyl for a couple of weeks.
Avatar m tn I have recently noticed a large knot in my lower gums below my teeth in the back part of my mouth. The knot is about the size of a large pearl... or a half of a grape.. What could this be??
Avatar n tn He consulted an oral surgeon to ask him what this glandular tissue that appeared under the gum was since he had a hard time pushing it back under the gum in order to re-suture the area. The oral surgeon told him it was something called a 'buccal fat pad' which is common to see during this type of surgery. The periodontist was able to push it underneath the gum and suture the gum closed. 10 days later, most of the swelling has gone down except for one hard spot in my cheek.
Avatar f tn Can I use goldenseal (herbal powdered root that is an anti-biotic) on some gauze and put it against the gum/cheek in my mouth a few times a day and see if this helps? 3. Is there anything else this could be other than a tooth/gum abscess (since there's no pain)? Thank you!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn She has x-rayed the tooth (it had a root canal years ago) and says that the root canal is intact, and that the infection is in a pocket between the tooth and the gum. She advised increased dental hygiene in order to shift the infection, and said that there was nothing else she could do beyond extracting the tooth. Since then I have been beyond meticulous in trying to keep my teeth clean.

Avatar m tn An abscess is basically a build up of pus and infection in the jaw bone area. I assume that since you've seen a dentist recently, it probably would've been spotted at your last checkup as they generally develop from large cavities. There are abscess that also develop from gum disease as well but assuming you had a cleaning and check up, thats also a little more unlikely. Best to get it checked out and taken care of.

Avatar f tn I recently notice my right side of my face around the gum area sowllen and I have a big red bumb were the tooth is .. What should I do?
Avatar n tn Hi megs222726, I just read your comments. First of all I wouldn't push on the outside of your gum. If you think there is a possible infection, I think I would get yourself an appointment with your dentist as soon as possible. Infections in the mouth can get quite serious. You should be seen by your dentist asap, i.e. some time within the next 2 - 3 days if not sooner. An acquaintance of our family passed away as a result of a tooth infection. He was faily elderly and had other issues.
Avatar m tn So I guess - 5 weeks of these burning sensations and this week the rash developed - are these indicative of a fungal infection (this is quite common?) - and should I start believeing the things the GUM and Dr are telling me.
Avatar f tn Thank you so much for this very useful advice and information. I should have said previously that I was diagnosed with vulvodynia last year, so is it possible that current symptoms could be linked in some way to that condition? Yes - I am in the UK and have been to my local National Health Service (NHS) GUM clinic.
Avatar n tn If the infection has not cleared up by now I would think that the crowns should be removed. I think you can place temporaries that are not irritating to the tissue. At times temporaries have to remain on for extended period of time and they do just fine. It depends how the temps are made, the corrrect contour and whether they are polished so they will not be an irritant to the gingiva. I think at this point you may need to bite(excuse the pun) the bullet and start over.
Avatar n tn Lymph nodes filter infection and swell when infection is normally present. They can take a long time to reduce in size once the infection is gone though. Was this node swollen before you saw your dentist? If so, it may just be residual. If not, a call to your dentist would be in order. Hope this helps. Try rinsing your mouth with warm salt water, too.
Avatar m tn Hi.I have just found out that my friend has been sleeping with prostitutes for 9 yrs, some black girls and mostly un protected!!!!!! He was apparently high risk for hiv. He has recently been tested at 3 months for HIV and sti's at the nhs GUM clinic and they were negative but is there any other diseases he could have caught such as hep b/c. I want to make sure he is in the clear before we have a child around him.
Avatar n tn Fillings that have gone bad can cause infection in the gum creating a great deal of pain. I'm wondering if the Dentist has discussed this with you? The x-rays will show the infection if one is present. I highly doubt that the shot of Novacaine caused the pain. In my opinion, the Dentist should have gone over the possibilities of infection and treated you with antibiotic...Generally all Dentists do. Make an appt. with the Dentist doing the work.
Avatar m tn I had a root canal done on the left upper second premolar a number of years ago After the procedure, I started having inflammation of the gum around the premolar I consulted another dentist and he took an x-ray. The x-ray showed that a piece of the root was still in the gum, and a cyst is formed around it.
