Common Questions and Answers about Gum infection how to treat

infection

Avatar n tn Please let me know how you do. My perio wants me to have the gum surgery but I'm having the implants on the front teeth done first and because my pockets are a maximum of 5mm, I think I may just do the deep cleanings every three months instead. Having implants and then the surgery is more than this dental phobic can even think about right now. Loosing my front teeth has been stressful so I can relate to your intense desire to save your teeth. The implants are expensive.
Avatar f tn Gum disease is an infection that mainly affects the teeth. There are so many reasons of gum disease, but the most of the common reason is a bacterial infection that affects the gum and other tissues surrounding the teeth. You can easily treat this problem by improving your good oral habits such as flossing, brushing habits, dental hygiene.
Avatar f tn If you are able to contact this random guy, you should, to tell him to get checked out at the GUM clinic and not have any sex with any other person before he is found to be cleared. Make an urgent appointment to see your doctor or get checked out urgently at the GUM clinic. Wishing you a speeding recovery. Let me know how you get on.
Avatar f tn Interesting that you had a test for Ureaplasma; most STD experts recommend against such testing, since Ureaplasma is generally considered a normal bacteria in the genital tract and most experts are not certain it ever causes disease. We never test for it in my STD clinic. However, this is a somewhat controversial area. In any case, since your test became negative after treatment, I see no reason for continued concern about it.
Avatar m tn But again after 2 days Fever started coming in and now it is persistent. Doctors are saying PUS is still inside her body....Now how to treat the Infection...Fever is for almost 2 1/2 months now.
Avatar f tn You may have some difficult opening and closing due to the trauma of the extraction to your jaw/TMJ area. Try putting some heat packs on it and stretch it out gently and treat it like a muscle injury. Try to eat softer foods to alleviate the stress on the muscle as well. Take the pain medication. I would call your dentist and let them know. They may prescribe some anti-inflammatories to help with the swelling and pain.
Avatar n tn I had a gum infection about a month ago and the dentist put me on antibiotics and i took the full course. I thought that had got rid of the infection because i didn't have the vile taste in my mouth that i had. I worrying today because i can taste the taste i had when i had the infection. The other day i kissed and was intimate with a man and i thought it had cleared so i didn't worry about the infection that day.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you have a pocket of infection called a fistula. The dentist is trying to treat it with antibiotics first, which is not uncommon. The problem is that the tooth is probably either dead or in the process of dying which means you'll need a root canal if it hasn't been done already. Something similar happened to me a few years ago. In my 20's, one of my upper molars cracked. Had a crown put on and never thought about it again.

Avatar m tn How can a gum infection cause heart disease and why don't all older people die from it then?
Avatar f tn It would be too soon for a syphilis sore to show. You could have to wait for a test, but syphilis is rare in developed countries and rare in women, not a major concern for you.
4328950 tn?1352873336 According to me one should always prefer to rinse the mouth after having cough drops, chewable vitamin C tablets or even antacids which produce cavities if left inside for too long. And no matter what kind of floss you use, it is a good idea to floss once a day and do it properly without hurting your gums. If you do not know how to floss, it is better to leave it alone rather than incur more injury.
Avatar f tn I am just wondering how long it is safe to leave an infection like this, as I would like to continue trying to shift it myself (as it does seem to be getting a little better), but don't want to risk it spreading. Also, should I consider getting a second opinion on the tooth - admittedly the tooth in question has an extremely large filling and has had to be built up at the back (don't ever get your tongue pierced, by the way, that ruined my teeth!
Avatar f tn I am glad I had a chance to treat and was lucky to avoid the sx. I wonder how many of us are as lucky.
Avatar n tn Hi Ive been diagnose with anal warts, not sure how long ive had them as never have had anal sex and just noticed a few strange bumps while showering, thought Id get it checked and gum clinic said I had small number of warts, now they said due to small size could be missed espically if you werent actively looking for them, my question is what are the chances I could pass on these anal warts to my gf with unprotected vaginal sex, in sence that she wouldnt have any real contact with the anus area
Avatar m tn the gum inflamation peaked on 8/31 , on 9/2, I saw doctor she checked the surgical area by looking, and said there is no infection. She then gave me anti-biotics and ibuprofen to reduce the bacteria level and treat the inflamation. now it is 9/20, as my gum condition getting better, I noticed that the sensitivity to percussion reduced but my tooth is still a little bit loose. (it got a little bit tighter now).
Avatar f tn Sounds like a tooth abcess, I had one of this this spring. Got a bump on the gum above the tooth. It can make the tooth hurt, but it doesn't have to. You need to go see a dentist, not good to have infections in the teeth. You need antibiotics and then a root canal with a crown. Very expensive, but the only chance to save the tooth.
Avatar f tn And infection spreading to gum area .. Hope u see a dentist soon because it can even get infected n turn into a bigger swelling and lead to further discomfort n complications .
